    • Düde, What's Up With This?

I never liked making düdes in EV/O because of the repetiveness of having to do something to every field. I love it that EVN now allows me to leave all the unused fields alone. Unfortunately, some of this isn't working. I've made two new düdes: "Civvie Lamina", ID 268; and "Civvie Viper", ID 269. I've set them up in a mďsn resource as ships to come in. The Laminas come in and defend me, while the Vipers are the auxships. The düde sets them up to be xenophobic pirates. When I accept the mission and enter the correct system, the Laminas hyper in and protect me, but the Vipers are nowhere to be found. The Vipers used to be ID 267, but when they hypered in they were instead Auroran ships, Firebirds and Phoenixes and the like. Can anyone help me out with this?

      Answers to obvious questions:
      Yes, I am registered.
The Viper düde points to Fed Vipers right now - it had the same strange behavior when it pointed to Civilian Vipers.
The AuxShip Syst ID is set to the same system as the main ships, though right now I will try to have them follow me.
NovaTools recognizes both düdes (it tells me the correct name of the resource).

    • I think you have to start a new pilot file in order to use the new resources. What EVN does is it locks down which resources are active at creation of a pilot, and new ones can't be added until a new pilot is formed. This happens in the përs resource as well.

Well, I was thinking this too, but my new ship works, my new wëaps work, my new oütf works, and one of my düdes works. I've found that they both work, but not in my mďsn. The AuxShips become an Auroran fleet, but the main ships for the mission work perfectly. I dunno, maybe I'll do some more snooping in the data files to check this out.

If EVN did that, it would be a horrible thing. It would basically mean that all plugins except for total conversions would be mostly useless. I certainly hope Burch wouldn't do something like that.

Note: I can't test this becuase I haven't registered. ( I'll wait until Ambrosia isn't swamped and I can get the code a day after ordering it)

I don't think that is the case, as I just popped in AAC's paint plugin and used my much older pilot with it just fine.

    • If I recall correctly, it's only chär resources that don't show up unless you start a new pilot. So while this may disapoint developers who want to include themselves and all their friends in their plugs, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Of course, I could also be completely wrong.

    • The only resources you need to start a new pilot to see are përs. This has always been the case. At the creation of a pilot, the engine flags any unused përs resources as "Dead", so they won't ever show up even if you add them later.

chärs, for the record, don't seem to get patched at all. In any case, they're only relevant for the creation of a new pilot anyway.

D'oh, that's what I meant! Characters, persons... it's all the same! Oh well, that's what I get for posting before I'm quite awake.
