    • PICS 2 Sprites

Well, time for me to post another (yes, another sigh) question for all you good folks out there. I already posted this on the Help is on the Way board, but not too many people seem to look at that one and i'm not even sure if the mods there know the problem. So, i present you with: my graphics problem #3. Or maybe 4 or 5. I've lost count. anyway...

So, i'm making my own graphics for an EVO plug with Strata3D Plus version 3.5. For evey one, I make an animation with 36 frames, the ship/weap turning 10 degrees per frame, and save it as a series of PICT files with 256 colors. Then, i go into Graphic Converter and batch process all 36 of the PICT files to make them all into one 8 bit PICS sequence. After doing this, i open the 8 bit PICS file with PICS 2 Sprites, and enter in the values. However, once i click "ok", the program cranks for a quick moment, then dings and quits and turns my whole screen white. When try to paste the graphic it created into apple works, graphic converter, or straight into ResEdit, i get a block of solid white that's about 1.5 by 1.5 inches, regardless of the size of the PICS (which i have varied from 30 by 30 pixles to 360 by 360 pixles). Does anybody have any clue what's going on here? thanks for your time and sorry that i'm so bad with this stuff.

    • Hm. I don't use p2s, I use m2s, but I suggest you check the technicalities of this. I.e., exact amount of frames, size, et cetera. I had quite a few crashes before learning that the sizes had to be multiples of 8...

    • Pictures 2 Sprite will automatically convert to 8bit.
You may need to up the memory. It didn't work for me so i up'd it to 80 megs of memory then it worked fine.
The Sprite size must be a multiple of 8 and 6. (that took me a while to figure out!)

    • ok thanks for the advice! i've gotten a few of them to work, one was 48 by 48, another was 168 by 168, but anything bigger than that doesn't seem to work, like 216 by 216. i've bumped the memory up to 18 megs to 80 megs and run it with no other aps on. all of them are multiples of 6 and 8 (24, 48, 72 ect), but with the bigger ones, it always turns my screen white and gives me a white square instead of the picture. ahhhg annoyance!

      BTW what ~is~ m2s

ah, movies 2 sprites. hmm. makes sence. thanks
