    • Of Beams and Missiles


      I constructed a beam: nothing out of the ordinary. Just a beam, that does zero damage. I selected the option "decoy". This should work, but I am having technical difficulties. Is it or is it not possible to have a beam serve as a missile decoy? If so, I would create a spinning beam that would serve as a force field against missiles. Someone help me out here.

    • Truthfully, I have never designed a full-complement beam in EV, but I can give you my advice from being an EV-plugin developer for 2/3/4 years.

      My suggestion: I say that it can't be used as a decoy. Although for something as heat-seeking missiles this would be useful, it's not an incredibly practical idea. I don't think you can...

    • from a programming point of view i'd say no: it'd be kinda awkward to have a line (as opposed to a point) act as a decoy. it is, however, possible to have several point sources, which is what i usually do (make a high rate of fire gun with 180 inaccuracy. unfurtunately, this means the field is centered on the nose. the same would hold true for a beam, though. the only fix is to make a turret, but then you need to have someone targeted for it to work)
