    • To post it, or not to, is that the question?

I have been thinking lately (suprise). Some friends and I have been making a plug for EV, we are doing well, got new graphics and some great ideas, etc. I was thinking if we should post it for dowload before it is completed or wait until we are completely finished. If we were to post it before it was complete it wouldn't have all the stuff, but it would get our name out there and let people know what we are doing and who we are. Plus, we might get extra feedback on what to improve and what to keep. Any thoughts on wether it is better release a plug premature, or release it when its completely finished?

    • Wait until it's completely finished. If you want your plugin to gain some popularity before hand, make a website... and keep people updated via some type of newswire.

    • Definitely wait until it has been completed. Since I've owned EV and EVO, I've downloaded many, many plugins--but not one that wasn't completed. I don't screw around with incomplete plugs or "teaser" plugs--I always wait for a completed version.

Having said that, make sure you take the time to make a good plug that is as bug-free as you can get it. Don't rush to finish it, and consequently leave a lot of mistakes and bugs in the plug.

      Good luck!

    • I would wait until it was ready for beta and release it to intrested members of this board. Releasing an unfinished plug-in to the public wouldnt work. You could release a few screenshots and teasers but no more than that at the moment.

    • You say you want publicity before you put it out, which is perfectly fine. It sometimes can be important. I agree with the making a website idea, but sometimes it may be going a little too far. The releasing screenshots idea is good, especially if you want to realease them in the forums, if the Ambrosia dudes would allow. The problem with releasing an unfinished version before it is done is that people KNOW about it, but by the time it's actually finished, they may be bored with it already. Sure, they haven't seen the ending, but some will give up on waiting for the finished product if they've seen the beginning and don't like it. When waiting for the whole thing when you have nothing, you will get impatient and want it done NOW!! Just look at people waiting for upcoming Ambrosia stuff... But when waiting for the end when you already have half, the programmer will either have to lose some fans, or will have to realease a little at a time to keep the interest of them. SOOOO, you should wait until it's done. It will be better for all of us.

If at first you don't succeed, deny you ever tried.

    • I'm interested, already. I would very much like to see what you have come up with so far, but that is up to you.

Try to organize a small team of beta-testers to give you the feedback you want and to warn you about the bugs. If you're not too keen on this idea, just go ahead and post a copy for download and I'm sure that there would be a bunch of guys on these boards who would be very helpful with feedback and such.

Yes, a webpage is a fine idea. If you need any help with that, I'd be willing to give you a hand on this.

What is the best free site to build a webpage on? Me and my friend working on it, dashriprock, have experience with html, but we are not experts. Your feedback has helped a lot, thanks.
