      Last year, when I was away at college, I met this guy that was designing a massive plug-in for EV or EVO. It had a bunch of cool ships, and would have been really cool, if he could ever finished it (he said it was something close to the maximum for the game.) I am guessing it was for EVO (seems more people develop for it for the features not in EV)

      Anyway, there was one weapon that he designed that I was intrigued by. This weapon was a gun of some sort, that when shot, will:

      a) circle around the ship you are piloting in an infinate loop, like a bubble (fired out the front, splits path, circles around, and does a figure 8 around the ship until it dies)

      🆒 it acted like a force field/sheild to projectile weapons and ships. If a missle was comming in from an enemy ship, it would be destroyed before getting close to the ship. Beam weapons and laser-type guns that had the range could still hit you though.

      The graphics used were that of the Mass Driver, graphics could easilt be modified. I know it can be done, but there is no way for me to contact him (couldn't find out his e-mail address in the short time I talked with him), and I have no idea what his online aliases are.

      Does anyone know how to create this type of a weapon, or something similar?

    • From what I know, this weapon would have to be a homing weapon, acting as a missile decoy - which would be no problem, but I can't imagine just how he planned to make it target the player ship Say, did you see this weapon actually work?

    • Yes, it did work. It was activated by the secondary weapon function. He gave a demo to me and my other friend of his plug-in, and he was attacking some Pirate ship, started running this weapon, and ran toward it. In the end, he was near undamager, and the pirate was destroyed.

    • Maybe if you gave it 100% inaccuracy it might do that but I'm not sure.
      (edit) How did he manage to get it to shoot down missiles? You need point defense weapons to do that and that feature is only in Nova.(/edit)

    • I'm guessing that he got it to shoot down missles by using the Missle Decoy flag.

      I just tested out your idea of 100% inaccuaracy (360°). The result is a weapon that just off the front of the ship detonates and fires bolts in all directions around you for the set distance. I tried shooting ships with it, but no damage was done, and when the UE fighters cam in to stop me, the missles never got close, due to the number of on screen shots (30 shots a second, 15 guns all firing at once.)

    • Another possibility would be to first launch some kind of fighter that would always stay below your own ship, to target it then, and to then fire your homing missile decoy - it would orbit your fighter, and thus your own ship
      It's a little complicated though.
