    • Questions about SoundEffects

I am not sure if this topic belongs here, but as it relates to music for plugins...
I downloaded SoundEffects to work on intro music for my plug-in. I never realized this until now, but whenever I record something the start of the song has a sort of accented loud part for whatever tiny fraction of a second. The speed and loudness is good after that, but when the music first starts it is... very loud. This makes for a slightly annoying listening environment for EV... Anyone know how to fix it?

    • That's... really weird. It may have something to do with the vox paramaters, I generally have them all turned off.

Do what most recordists do; push "record" a few seconds before you start the source playing. When done, open up the file and eidt out the silence.

    • My guess is that it has something to do with gain. Auto gain would do that: it increases the sensitivity with the silence at the beginning, then gets blasted when sound starts and quickly backs off. Auto gain isn't perfect, y'know.

That's my best guess, anyway. I haven't fiddled around much with SoundEdit's gain controls, it just works the way it's set currently for me.

    • Ahh..... Thanks. I'll have to mess around with this a bit... what fun :cackles gleefully:
