    • .wav file translator?

Anyone know of a program (preferably freeware) that will convert .wav files to snd files usable in plugs? I'd like to stuff a wav I have into a small plug I'm making to use as a weapon sound, but haven't found a way to convert it.

    • Try SoundApp. It converts almost any format to any other format in a few seconds. I think it's shareware, but I'm nit sure.

QuickTime 4.0 can handle both formats. MoviePlayer -- freeware player for QuickTime files -- can Save As (I just tried it to make sure.) Don't use the player bundled with QT 4.0, tho; it offers no useful functionality.

    • Ok, I've converted it to an snd file with SoundApp. Is there any special trick I don't know about for importing sounds into a plug? The sound plays fine when by itself, but after opening the sound file in ResEdit and copying and pasting it into the plug, the sound is broken. I've doubled checked the link in the wëap resource to the ID number, and that's fine. Any ideas?

Can't answer what happened to you, but I know this works; save the file as a System 7 sound file. Open in ResEdit, select only the .snd resource and paste that to the Overide Sounds plug. Change the ID#.

That's how I changed (and added to) the Escort voices just last week.
