    • Cult Resource

Hey, everyone. I was programming my plug (back on project! Finally...) and created the splash screen. Anyway, I was trying to make it look good. The colors clased with the normal EVO cult colors, so I tried to make another one. Only, I think I can spend all of the time fiquring out all of the colors needed. Is there any way to save a list of the colors used in a picture file? If so, what program? Thanks in advance.

    • Cluts, not cults.

Photoshop can do this; there's probably somewhere around you can get access to it. You might be able to send the image to someone who does have it and they could produce a clut for you.

Sorry, I don't know the exact process, but I do know that a lot of people (who make their own splash screens) use (url="http://"http://www.lemkesoft.de/us_gcabout.html")Graphic Converter(/url) to create their cluts.

      Anyone know how?

    • Thanks, everyone. I fixed it.
What I did was go to the link that DaAdBoY posted above. I read through it, and discovered that you could use GraphicConverter, which I have on my machine, to make the image. I then went to the Prefs, under the 'Save' title.
Then, you check 'Add Resoucre Fork' under the Icon/Preview heading. Then, under the 'Color Table' subheading, you check 'Add clut resource' Then, save the image. It will have a list of the 256 colors used in the image. But, you have to make sure the image is in 256 colors....I don't know how to get that to work, unless you use 'New Image From Clipboard' (aka (Apple+J)). That creates a custom pallate for that image, in 256 colors (if selected).

GraphicConverter is availble (url="http://"http://www.lemkesoft.com")here(/url). It is very useful, but is $35. I don't know about PhotoShop...I hear it's good.

Regarding above posts: It is the clut resource, not cult...

      Thanks for your help, everyone.

    • Here are my instructions.

You will need GraphicsConverter to do this
In the prefrences, go to the vertical tab of Save
Chech the box under Color Table that says clut Resource
Open the picture you want to make a clut of
In the menu of ŇPictureÓ go to color and ŇChange bit dynamicallyÓ
Make sure that there are 256 colors and dithering is checked
Save your image as a PICT
Open it in ResEdit and copy your clut (you will need to change the ID#)

I don't care if you have already finished.

Well, if you didn't know, the 'clut' resource number is 1000...I had to look that up. 🙂
Also, I didn't select 'Change Bit Depth Dynamicaly'...it worked in creating the standard clut...all 256 colors, standard pallate. If anyone wants to download them, go (url="http://"http://www.geocities.com/madman801/clut.sit")here(/url).

      Happy Thanksgiving!!

    • There is a free app that does exactly what you want.
Search for "Pict 2 CLUT 1.0". If all else fails, e-mail me and I'll send it to you.

    • An unfortunate typo in the Topic header led me to believe this thread would be a bit more interesting that it actually was...
