      Someone mentioned Adobe PageMill in a topic. They asked what it was, and what it does.
      So, I installed it. It is like Netscape Composer, but with more tools. It also expects you to have a constant connection to the internet. It also offers features like Radio Buttons, Frames, password protection, and menus. It is a very powerful tool, and comes standard with Apple iMacs (or did when we got ours 2 years ago).
      Someone also said it was a HTML perfection program. That's one of it's features, but not all of them. It offers more tools than Netscpae Composer (which is what I use), and is just as easy to use.

      Bleh. You'd be far better off with something like Visual Page (free). I can't stand PageMill. I consider Netscape Composer to be superior when compared to the subject program...

    • No offense to whomever, but I hate pagemill. It's incredibly hard to use. I also hate dreamweaver. I recommend ClarisHomePage if it still exists- for people who want to be able to do stuff in HTML and point-and-click... I use it and it's incredibly simple and easy.

      And where can I get this free one you speak of? 😛

      Skyblade digs through the download.com pages

      Bleh, downloads.com has it listed as "demo." Kinda odd, considering I got Visual Page years ago free on some Mac Warehouse CD. Even if it does cost money to buy the full version, I'm sure it would be under forty / 30 dollars.

    • hehehe. The only piece of software I have for webdesign is Adobe Sitemill 1.0. It's a piece of crap, in case anyone wants to know. I hope that Adobe improved it a lot...

    • In my humble opinion, you're much better off simply learning HTML. I've used PageMill and a couple like it to save time before, and they invariably load your pages up with extraneous code. I prefer the minimalist appraoch.

      Well, I do know decent HTML. It's very easy. I just use Composer for the easy stuff that takes too long to write by hand. Now, on the other hand, frames, which are very hard...I have to do those in SimpleText.

      I also have OS X on my machine. Does Netscape read TextEdit files as HTML? I usally work under 9, as I havne't checked to see if ResEdit works natively under OS X.

      Surprised no-one has mentioned "half-and-halfs." I usually start my pages in PageSpinner. Even tho I'm writing much of the code by hand, the color coding and utilities help me remember what I am doing. Plus one-button preview, of course.

      On the other hand, I go for a clean design; maximum functionality, minimal bells and whistles, slim enough so my friends with 22.6 modems can still access. If I was stacking frames and javascripting menus...:}
