    • Strata 3D-Rendering

Hey, everyone! I was making a Romulan Warbird (from Startrek). I was thinking of making it a new ship, and when I went to render to see how it would do, I thought, "Why don't I make it a 3D sprite?" The answer was, "Because I don't know how!" So, that's why I'm here. Does anyone know how to make Mewox-style sprites in Strata 3D? (The kind where the look like (url="http://"http://www.SaberStudios.evula.net")Saber Studios(/url) graphics)
      Thanks for the help.

I'm assuming you mean a sprite rendered in perspective, rather than bird's-eye view. The simplest way would be to switch to isometric view and group the ship so you can manipulate it as one object. Then render a frame, rotate the ship 10ş, and render the next frame, etc. until you have 36 frames. Or you could render an animation of the ship rotating 360ş in 36 frames, to produce the desired sprite.

Would you take the object, and manipulate it to where it is viewed from the top during isometric? I tried to do that before, and it didn't work the best. If you want to play with it, you can download it(url="http://"http://www.geocities.com/madman801/Warbird.sit")here(/url) . Thanks for the help.

    • Right, here's what to do :

      1. Group the whole ship as 1 object
      2. Select the top down view
3)Rotate the abject either 45 or -45 degrees (I cant remember which so play around until it has the correct angled view)
      3. Rotate the object through the y-axis with respect to the the "object" (select the "object" radio button instead of the "world" button). Do this by hitting -90 against on the 10th frame, 19th frame and 28th frame (each time rotate by -90 with respect to the object) and -80 against the 36th frame.
      4. Use the preview "play" button in the project window to check that it spins correctly.

I hope this makes sense to you. If you find it hard to understand please feel free to email me at ewanc@mac.com and I will be able to help you more directly.
