      (url="http://"http://www.ewanc.f2s.com/evg/preview.html")Here(/url) are some preview pics from the forthcoming plug-in EV-Gladiator that I am producing and releasing under the Corsair Developers. Also here is ome backgroound info on the plug-in.

      The featured ship is a combat shuttle.

      EV-Gladiator is a whole new way to look at EV. I originally came up with the concept completely by accident, while trying to make a mission in which a ship hypers into the system, and the player has to destroy it for cash. It then occurred to make a whole TC that was based on this principal. The player has a ship which he or she fights in (all the ships are war based so no trading in this plug!!!), and fights for money to upgrade his ship to defeat harder oponents. Simple.

    • Actually, I think it's already been done. It was an EV plugin named something like Arena.

    • I hope you are planning that plug for EVN because the EV3 engine will give you much more possibilities !

    • Yeah, there is a plug called Arena where you are a gladiator fighting other people to earn cash for more outfits and ships. The concept is great, however, it is so hard that it is almost impossible. The money it takes to fight one battle is pretty much what you get paid. Making a profit is so hard that it is pointless to play. I would love to see this plugin redone in a form that I can actually play.

      Yeah I was going to make the plug-in for EV firstly, then port to EVO (adding the new features for 1.0.2 would be easier than taking them away for a port from EVO to EV). And once I get proficient enough at both the graphics and programming I will port it to the EV3 engine.

    • I was wondering what you all think of the combat shuttle? Its a pity it is only a shuttle as it has cool rocket pods on either side of the fuselage that you cant see in the spin. You can just see the two main guns at the front. In the game you can have a max. of 3 in the combat shuttle.

      You may have noticed that all the sprites are angles. This helps to fix that horrible problem caused by using angled ship sprites and flat weapons sprites. There will be no beam weapons in the EV or EVO versions for this reason but there will be one in the EV3 release.

      The next ship I am doing is the scorpion. The reasons for that name will become apparent once it is complete. Something about a sting in its tail is all I am saying...

    • Well, if you want to show off the shuttle model (which does look like a good shuttle), the design is such that if you add some plating and change the window into a small jutting bridge (stick a cube there), you could call it a light corvette. 😉

      Scorpion, eh? Brings new meaning to the "monty python"? I made a ship once kind of like that, it was a freighter that could shoot a fiery blast from its engines.

      Just to note, a gladiator plugin with specific, new weapons and ships would be, in my opinion, better that one just using those from EV or EVO. Neat!

      By the way, I got your e-mail about the graphic request. However, I couldn't reply to it because of my screwed up G3 keyboard. As for this graphic you're wanting, do you want a replacement for the old side status bars of Escape Velocity (target, cargo, radar etc.)?

      You got it in one. If you could manage it, it would be great. Kind of like the one in Magma as it looks really cool but more greay and with traces of red if possible. I say red as I have already made the new "status bar" for the shields and fuel which is red and kind of 3D.

      Thanks from the way I see things at the moment it will be visually quite cool and the high amounts of action involved will make up for the whole stortline generally based alond the lines of "blow **** up".

      As for the corvet I already have sketches on paper of how that will look. All I have to do is model them now.
