I tried contacting Ambrosia about this but they said they can't help. Does anyone know how the DefCount field in the spob resource actually works? Here is my email to Ambrosia, please email me if you have any help with this...
I have been going nuts trying to figure out how the DefCount in the spob
resource works. Contrary to what the EVO bible says, 1082 does not
produce 4 waves of 2 ships for a total of 8. It produces 2 ships at a
time and I stoped counting after killing 20 ships. A value of 1063
produced 4 ships at a time and I again stoped counting at 20 killed. A
value of 3 or 33 produced a swarm of at least 30 ships, I couldn't see if
more appeared as they were destroyed as I didn't last long. So, my
question is how does this thing work so I can accurately set up a planet's
defenses? I also noticed that some numbers seemed to mess up the spin
correlation to the ship resource, when I started up I'd be in the right
ship but it had the wrong sprite... Your help is appreciated, I could
find nothing on the website about this. Oh, and it is the latest version
of EVO, 1.02 running on a G3 with OS 9.1, and I used res-edit with the EVO
templates.
