    • survey: how much of a coward are you?

Kinda misleading subject, but I'm trying to make a formula/criteria for determining a pers coward rating.

Sooo, at what point do you run away from a fight in EVx, and what factors do you think about. Shield mods, armor, ship speed?

    • I only run away when the enemies ship is a lot bigger than mine and/or I am severely(sp?) outnumbered.

    • Depends on the rate that I am taking damage. If I expect to be killed within about 5-10 seconds at the current damage rate, then I withdraw. In small ships, this occurs around 30% shields. In big ships, I wait til I am down to armor before even considering retreating.

      ------------------

    • I never retreat unless I have something to loose, say having blown up the Alien crusier in my Defender, and haven't landed yet. Otherwise, FIGHT TO THE DEATH!

    • run away? What is that- never heard that term while I play 😛

Silent Night, a plug-in for Nova, will feature a small, unique galaxy. With only three races, I will be able to change the galaxy to my hearts desire. To help me finish it faster, I will not be slowed down by making ship graphic- I will use the ones from Nova.

    • I don't care much about dying usually, since I almost never play strict mode. However, as Anatole said, I will of course run away if I just completed a special mission and haven't landed yet, or just pirated 150,000 credits from a pirate Kestrel and haven't landed yet, etc.

    • Unusual as it m ay seem, I try not go into combat. Unless I have to I just peacefully jump out of the system. Of course doing the whole UE string in a scoutship makes you a little paranoid.

I just jump into my Aurora, ready the thrusters, and see how many I can kill with a
single Fireball,")http://www.ambrosias...ea.hqx)Fireball,(/URL)(/url) and then I'm done!!!

    • The factors to consider should be:

      total shield
      remaining shiels
      sheild regeneration rate
      armor
      shield + armor of emeny.
rate that your ship can do damage
rate that enemy can do damage
plus many more! (got that idea from commericals for music!)

if you could make a simple formula out of all that works in ev- wow.

    • Past experience - if a particular mission combination or ship creamed me before, then I always run away until I get a bigger, badder ship.

    • I always have a 'lazy bastard' pilotfile squirreled away somewhere...so, take for example New Horizons. I start the game with 2.4 B credits. I buy myself an old, outdated rebel destroyer, and equipp it with my preferenced equipment. In this case:

      3 Energy Lances.
      4 Atomic Blasters.
      35 C-Missiles with two launchers.
      Engine upgrades.
      Missile Jammer.

NOTE: This is all civilian stuff. Available at the beginning.

With that equipment, I always win, even against a ship 20 times my size with 40 fighters. Hell, I even modified the dreadnought to have 10k shields and 10k life and 14 proton turrets, and it still dies 1:1. The TNY carriers are even easier. Aliens? Bah. They Ph33r me. 😄

    • Well, It depends what strategy I'm using.

If I'm using the 'press autopilot and both fire keys at the same time while accelerating ' tactic, i'll go away when my shields reach about 30%, but if i'm doing a tactic like an MP where I can avoid most enemy fire, i'll take my chances until my armor gets down to about 20%.

So as the computer uses the first tactic all the time, 20-30% would be a good figure.

    • I never go away. The problem is that I loose many ships

    • Often a reason I run away is because I'm so imersed in the mission, I don't have time to fight. Yes, as said before, also if I have just done something really hard and have low shields. Besides that, going up against better odds is something that makes EV and EVO so fun. I always welcome the challenge of taking out a Confed Cruiser with a shuttlecraft, or an Igazra with an Azdara(which is actually easy once you decide that Azdaras are invincible 🙂 ). Of course, when I wasn't registered, I always ran from Captain Hector in a bad mood.....
