Oh, come on Weepul. Post one of your spiffy Infini-D ships and you wan't need Bryce to crash LW guys and take it all again.
And still Admiral I think there should be the voting system and clearly decided categories for the images. But it's your party, you got your supporters (by the way, perfect logic Wyvern  ).
And if you wonna use the gallery for your contest you gonna find a bunch of guys (not me, no) who gonna tell you that the gallery is not about competition and voting. I said it there once and got a couple stones thrown at me and my Karma slashed. So it would be really nice if you could provide a web-page for this contest.

Cool, Necro. What is this EV-Dev.net? I've been spending almoust all the time in the gallery, so never heard this news.

      ------------------

    • hmm, a graphics contest, good idea.

One prob though - it seems that you are expecting people to post their word in this thread. Problem is that moderators have been instructed to place a break (that is, close the topic and make a new 'topic continued' thread) after 200 posts have been reached.

Keep going, but dont be surprised if a break gets made.

Lastly - if you have a large image, LINK to it, dont post the image straight here. Put a thumbnail here if you want to though.

Have a look at this thread for some more info about it:

    • Can there please be a beginner category? The last two graphics contests that I've seen both had one, and that would be the only one that I could post in, considering not how much time I've had StrataVision since I've been using it first, but how much time I've used it. 🙂 Anyways, please tell me if there is a beginner category, as I have something that I would like to submit.

    • Hmm...the moderators back me up! I feel recharged. And I think that it is a good idea to have a beginners category...so, here goes

three major categorys, beginner, intermediate, and advanced.

each will have a sub-category defined by the program it was used to create it.
      (For instance, Intermediate: lightwave.)

I dont think that is too overly complex, is it?

      ------------------
      Whats small and green
      and grows in towers
      if you want it big
      it takes more than hours

    • Great. Now all we need is a place for the contest to be hosted (personally I don't think a webboard topic is the right place) and a few other things, like deadlines or other requirements (max image size, either pixels or file size?).

      ------------------

    • hmm...well, I dont personally have a website to host it, but the EV-something.net sounds like a good idea. I also think that the limit size will be 800x600...thats pretty fair, eh? I guess for now it will be on this site... so, post a link to the picture like the moderators said.

      ------------------
      Whats small and green
      and grows in towers
      if you want it big
      it takes more than hours

    • What about the description to the picture? Is there need for one or you just go "I made this ship in...".
Shoud the images have background or not? I mean is the whole image is been judged or just the ship.
      Deadline? Results announcement date?

      ------------------

    • A note on the judging: whoever gives out the prizes (what are they?) can choose the judges. If you are paying for it, then it is right that you judge.

I hope to win the Advance Mechanisto catagory! Where do we post the images? Just provide a link on this forum or what?

nah don't worry. I'm REAL busy this month (in the process of moving ) might not submit anything at all. If I do it would be something "more simple".

      ------------------

    • Ok, I finished that graphic I was working on, and posted it in the image gallery as well. I'm submitting this for the beginner/StrataVision/Fighter category (or something like that; I'm not so sure about the categories now ;)) It's URL is:

    • those of you who have bryce 4, I just discovered something very cool. Go to the right side of the screen where all those tiny buttons are. Hold down on the box. You can choose different things other than wireframe! I didn't know that.... as for the image contest, will lightwave and bryce be in the same catigory, cause I don't think that's quite fair 🙂 Also, pyro, please don't enter the contest!

    • Capt'n Hector, I already knew about that and find it...almost completely not useful. 😛

I am going to wait for an official site to be set up before I consider creating/submitting something.

Erm, what happens if I've got an image that fits into all the above (bar the landing pics/planets)?

    • Okay, well here's how it works...

Say, for example; I've got an image. It's a scene that contains vessels that are modelled in Infini-D and textured and rendered using Bryce. It's then been heavily worked and composed in Photoshop, including a space-scape that's been modelled in Bryce.

In to which category should I place it? Group 1, because it's been complied and worked in Photoshop, Group 2 because the core of the modelling was done in Infini-D, or Group 3 because all the rendering was done in Bryce?

      Do you see my problem?

That's a good idea, but surly the judge should just categorise the entries (re. beginner, intermediate etc.) I'm sure that there's allot of people out there who think that they’re pretty damn advanced, but when measured against others, they tern out to be moderately intermediate. Do you see what I'm getting at?

I think if anything, those classifications would be best used as descriptions of the winners.

But hay, if I’m talking through the hole in my but, just ignore me ;).
