    • Graphics Program

I'm new to graphic design for Plugs. What is the best all around program for doing 3D graphics. Mind you I'm 13 years old and are a little constrained money wise (have about $200).

    • There are many very good and free graphics programs. Generally, it seems, people stick with whatever they try first, or learn to use first. I suggest StrataVision, which has an easy-to-learn/use interface, has quite a good capability, and is overall quite good for a free program. It can be acquired from people such as myself, or from a MacAddict CD of which I cannot remember the number. It also has a rather good tutorial that can be acquired from people who have gotten StrataVision from the MacAddict CD. If you want to get the installer/tutorial, I'll be putting it up on my server soon.

    • If you are prepared to spend money on it then i would suggest Strata 3D plus which you can find at (url="http://"http://www.strata.com")www.strata.com(/url)

If you dont, there is also a free version of Strata 3D but the new version is really rubish so do a search on ww.download.com for Strata 3D 3.0.2

Strata3d 3.0.2 itself is only good for special features, such as metaballs and glowing stuff. The modeler itself is quite bad. StrataVision has a much better modeler, and StrataVision files can be opened in Strata3d. However, StrataVision does not support some features, like metaballs and glowing stuff, that Strata3d does. It would be a better idea to have both, as alone, neither is very powerful, but together, they're extremely powerful. They both also have quite fast renderers.

    • Where can you get StrataVision? I have Amapi and it seems to have some pretty good features (at least I think so, I also havent used Strata).

IMHO Strata3d has better modelling than StrataVision, except that it doesn't include skinning. However, a lot of the features (like advanced lathing) are buried fairly deep if you don't have the manual. The speed increase is worth it. If you want to supplement Strata's not brilliant modelling, try Pixels, Amapi, or the free Clayscape by Jarfish.
