I can remember someone asking how to make a clut awhile ago and they didn't want to do it the long boring way of color by color. I have found the easy way! Here are the simplish steps:

You will need GraphicsConverter to do this

In the prefrences, go to the vertical tab of Save

Chech the box under Color Table that says clut Resource

Open the picture you want to make a clut of

In the menu of ŇPictureÓ go to color and ŇChange bit dynamicallyÓ

Make sure that there are 256 colors and dithering is checked

Save your image as a PICT

Open it in ResEdit and copy your clut (you will need to change the ID#)

clut=color look-up table. it's a saved color palette so you don't have to use the system colors in your graphics. for someone like me who can't do graphics anyway, it doesn't matter, but for someone who knows what they're doing that's a really good thing

They can be used to make an image in 256 look as if it was in 1000s of colors.
