      I have a couple questions...

What program was used in creating the ships...

I have lightwave. if that is used, then how do you save as PICT animations?

Nova's ships were made with Lightwave.

Export the movies as you normally would and use R&R;'s movie->sprites tool to create the required EV sprites.

      From the FAQ:

R&R; software stands for Ralph (Sutherland) and Rodger (Sutherland), a father and son pairing who are most noted in the EV community for their editors for plugin design for Escape Velocity: Override. When it became clear that making plugins for Nova would be inherently more difficult than for any of the previous incarnations of Nova, they were brought on board to develop a set of editors that would make the job easier.
The result is the first set of fully functional editors that allow any would-be plugin designer to quickly and easily learn the ins and outs of manipulating the many resources required.

Whether or not these editors will be packaged and released at the same time as Nova is still undecided. But regardless, they will be worth it.

      🙂

    • Your link doesn't work.

So go on the internet game sites and bash all the PC users!

    • Sigh... Geocities, Tripod, and a host of other free hosting services ( 🙂 ) no longer allow external links to their images. If you want to display an image that's hosted on one of them, you have to put it on a Geocities or Tripod web page, and give us the URL for that. It's a pain, but that's what they've chosen to inflict upon us.

    • Just go to (url="http://"http://www.geocities.com")www.geocities.com(/url) and then go to (url="http://"http://www.geocities.com/zombadda/AC_Prev.jpg")http://www.geocities...dda/AC_Prev.jpg(/url). They just check the referrer to see if it's geocities.com or not, prevents you from using it as a graphic storage place for a web site somewhere else without giving them credit, seeing their ads, et cetera.

Nice ship, you might consider posting it to EV Images once you get it textured.

    • Thanks, and by the way, whats EV images?

I have another Question, tho, Does anyone know the angle of pitch that the ships are rendered at? Im doing it at 60degrees centering the camera on the ship. I have tried 70, too. I would compare with the movie clips, but i only have a 28.8 K modem speed, because that is all my town internet cable can handle...so, mabye later.

    • first off, shouldn't that be on the image gallery?
second of all, when the link doesn't work, you just click at the end of the address and hit return (you know, so it goes there) and then it will show up. this is NOT HARD people!
And, I like your ship, but it needs texture.
      I wish I had lightwave.

Advertisment: I'm about to post a new image in the gallery, check it out!

Yep. There are also now 16 bit versions, but the 8 bit ones you already have access to will let you try out basic ships in EVO for now. There is a little bit more involved with Nova sprites, but in the end I aim to make it so the plugin developers won't have to do much more than drag and drop the output of their 3D apps, so it'll seem the same.

I personally prefer storing my 3D output as lossless millions of colours movies with exactly 36 frames and use m2s to make sprites.

      NovaTools are coming.

    • Are you saying we'll be able to just drop a 3d image into your editor and it will convert it to all the needed sprites?!?! That would be ~awesome~!!! If you can, will it take outputs form Windows programs like 3d Studio? I have access to that free in my drafting class at school, and could make ships there.

    • The ship looks cool. Good job. It seems you can just copy the URL and paste it on the location line and press return and then Poof! you're there. What is EV images? Im confused!!

And Still, what is the Angle that the Ships are rendered at? Normally, in EVO your looking straight down from the top, a 90 degree pitch...but EVN is at something like a 70 or 60 Degree pitch....I dunno.

and by the way....IM GONNA TEXTURE IT

It's the EV Image Gallery, a forum where people who have made images for EV/O(/N soon) can post them. They have to have their own webhost that allows external image linking to post and you must create a seperate 160x160 image 'thumbnail' that is displayed with your post.

      The gallery is here: (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/cgi-bin/ubb/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&number;=56")http://www.AmbrosiaS...opics&number=56(/url)

Another tip to prevent those pesky referer checks: in iCab you can set it so 'referer' is only used within the same domain. It's in the security prefs.
