Does anyone know how to change the background of the game from the normal stars to something else? It kind of limits the possibilities of the game so if anyone knows, please respond!

Wait for Nova. You will be able to block out stars and change the system background color.

Macavenger is right. With Escape Velocity and Override, those stars in the background are there to stay.

That easy? Is this something you could do inside the editor being created for Nova, or could it also be performed in ResEdit?

No,no,no. I don't want to simply remove the stars, I want to replace it with something else! Say for instance we replce it with water. Design some ship graphics and turn the planets into islands and, poof, you have an ancient sea game! Or you could make it ground and do something with that. Thanks for all the help though, and tell me if you know how to do this.

I'll bet this is an idea for the World War II plug I've heard about? It's an excellent and interesting idea, but you really need to wait for Nova till you try that. Even then, you might run into problems with the background and sprites...

Impossible, asked many times though. You can change the colour of the stars, but not the background colour or shape. Wait for nova, I think you could make it have a blue background and no starfield to get that effect...

Oh so in NOVA you can change the colors.....but to what? In space you have the stars, but can you say change the background to other patterns like a repeating tile pattern (like a .jpg repeating image) of a gasous nebula if the system is in a nubula? Or some other pattern....... that you can make in Photoshop.

Here's a hint: Look in the ppat resource. It lets you edit the star colors, nothing else. :frown: If you want to have real control, wait for nova.

Oh yeah... I mean I agree that the R&R; editors would be the best, I'm just saying that it's easy to do, even in a TMPL format.
