I was wondering something: is it possible to download Infini-D? I know it's been discontinued and that's why I'd think it would be possible. If so, does anybody have a copy that I could d/load? I would really like to use it, and I don't have the $899 for Carrara. If this is the wrong forum, please lock/delete it mods. Otherwise responses would be appreciated.

I actually owned the full version of Infini-D 4.0, only to find it that it ISN'T freeware! Some other company now has rights to the program, which is why I trashed my copy after finding out I was using it illegally. :frown:

For cheap commercial programs I recomend - Animation Master (Meowx uses this) ($200), Real 3D (I think this is the name of the cheaper version of Lightwave) ($300 or so), Mechanisto (free), Strata 3D (cheap), some other ones, but I think the 1st 2 are the best for the money.
Its too bad they ditched Infini-D, I think it had one of teh most intuitive modeling methods and interfaces around :(.

strata 3d is free and sweet, i use a full outdated version (wich is approx. the same) and lightwawe lite (so to say) is called inspire3d, or was the last time i checked.

Yup, Carrara is $899. A little pricey. A real pity about Infini-D. It seems like since it's discontinued, it should be free. :frown: I mean Carrara is different enough and has enough different features that you'd think... Plus it isn't supported by any corp. right now. Oh well, if someone wants to give it to me, I would still like it ;).

Real 3D!!! I had that on the Amiga, and I thought it was dead! It had good results, but was kinda difficult to use because all objects were spline based.
Anyway, I use Cinema4D GO. Its about Ł150 but is really easy to use!
I would really like to get a copy of infini-D, but only to convert those EVO models into a useable file format :frown:

Oops . . . Inspire 3D, thats what I mean, Real 3D, where did I get that name? Anyway last time I checked Carrara is being produced by the same guys who make anmapi, evolvia of something like that. I wish they would at least make an older version free. They can't make any money off it, I guess then think that people will take the free one and not use the newest offering. :mad:
