Has anyone ever experimented with NON-SPACE EV/EVO designs? I was experimenting the other day and a thought came to me about planets shaped like islands and water rather than space. There would be sea vessels, rafts, gallies, submarines, destroyers, also there could be planes, zeppelins. This is just my idea, but has anyone ever tried this before?

I have had these ideas before but I came to a few conclusions:
1. you would have to refit EV to make things turn only if going forward and such, due to boats and cars actual turning.
2. you would have to change the background from black to whatever color. Obviously change asteroids into like tumbleweeds or birds or something.
3. besides all that it would make for a great plugin, oh yeah change the jump sound to some type of rocket booster or something.

If you can do the background pattern and the turning deal, then go ahead and it should be great.

Impossible.

You cannot change the background in EVO, it will always remain black. You can get rid of the stars, but that's as far as you can go.

Nova will let you change the background color, however. So your idea will be quite plasuible in the near future. Be patient.

I'm working on a sea plug just like that, set in World War II. There's a topic on it here actually... yes, it's ambitious, but we're working on the background issue.

Well if it's possible to make huge blue stars then it's set, otherwise, well it will still work, just it'll be not quite as realistic (I'm working on that problem at the moment!).

I'm involved in the WWII plug-in II (bad pun). I believe giant blue stars is the way to go, but if Nova comes out before we finish, maybe we should port it.

The last time I was on this board, the price of dumb questions was really high.
Ask me what I'm doing.

The main problem with a different setting would be that it would end up unrealistic.

Things like the drifting would look silly, as would turning - to get turning accurate
you'd have to slow it down dramatically.

I SUPPOSE you could do it, but you'd have to make a lot more changes than just the
regular ones that come to mind, as, for example, the menu and bar at the right would
need to be changed to look right.

Plus, the graphics would be so similar they'd be boring.
