A couple of days ago, I made a plug for EVO. It added some ships and outfits. I'm working on the second version of it now, but I've come across a problem. I want the new ships only to appear after you've done a certain mission, but they appear before the mission is finished, not in the shipyard, but in the systems. I read the EVO Bible, and found some insight to this, but I don't have the right field for doing what I want. I have Res-Edit 2.1.3, EVO 1.0.2, and the EV/O templates. Perphas the templates aren't u to date! Help me please! For anyone who wants to know, it is the UE Phase II plug-in, which in on the add-ons page.

      That's very simple...

You probably made a dude of that particular mission ship and placed that dude in the system, thus explains why it shows up. If you didn't make a dude, then the ship's ID number is somewhere in one of the dudes resources in the system or systems...

If you want those ships to appear ONLY AFTER a particular mission is complete, then you'll have to make a or a set of duplicate systems with the corresponding dude (the one with the mission ship) in it. After that, set your mission bits and visbits and you're set...

I don't think so! but that explains it. But It seems complicated, espcially since I have 5 different ships that shouldn't appear until 4 different mission bits are set.

Here is a question to Matt Burch (or somebody who would know): How did you get the UE Crusier to appear only after you do the Anna Balashova missions?

UE Cruisers didn't appear at all in systems after the missions (UE Cruiser ones at least)...but either way, the only way to do it is as I described it...with multiple systems and visbits and dudes.

      Attempt at Clearification:
NOTE: IDs are for explaination only...any legal ID number will do...

Say you want to put that special mission ships in systems 200-208, but only after mission 150 is complete.
Make duplicates of systems 200-208 and rename them 209-217 or something else.
Make a dude containing new set of ships (ships built during a mission or something). We'll call this, dude 165.

Say mission 150 sets bit 20...
Give systems 200-208 a visbit of 1020 to clear them from the map after mission 150 is completed. Give systems 209-217 visbits of 20 to make them appear when mission 150 is completed. Systems 209-217 will inturn replace systems 200-208. Same feature is used to do the Parren Station missions. In systems 209-217 (systems replaceing original) put dude 165 (or whatever dude set you want to appear in system...) in the system. That'll make it so the special mission ships appear in systems after a mission is complete...ie: Voinian Dreadnoughts will patrol Voinian space now...since the missions introducing it are complete.

If that don't work...well...It has to...cause it's the only way...

      PEACE YO!

Actully, I've seen a few after I completed the Anna Balashova series. Other people have seen them, too. That was without a plug-in.

You know, I do get how to do it, its just a lot of work . I have to make Unique ID numbers for each of the systems, doing each system 3 times and I have to edit the original! Then I have create a new düde, and much more :frown:.

    • OK, I think what you mean is this:

You have created new ships/outfits for the player to buy, and you want them to appear after a certain mission, right? This is very easy.

Firstly, find a free mission bit (there are a few utils to help you in the EV/O downloads area). In the missions compbitset put this ID. In the ship/outfit's availbitset field, also put this ID. This means that the outfit/ship will not be shown until that mission is set. You can do the same with dudes I think, but it would be hard to make them appear in a specific system.

Actully I made the name up myself. It came to me in a dream

And, Blackhole, its not buying it that the problem is, it's the düde that I made shows that ship before I want it to show it. But I just figured out that I can't do what I want by Editing the syst. I would need 2 places for Visbit, but there is only 1 :frown:
