    • EVO Bug - Domination

Well, I was doing some testing for QSE and I came across a bug in EVO! First, I bought (well, ok, I had the price set to 0) a carrier ship and pooped out (yes, that's a technical term) all of its fighters. Then, I went and bought the ship again (as we all know, this causes your fighters to turn into escorts but reduces the resale value of your ship), pooped out all the fighters, etc etc until the "maximum number of ships in a system at one time" limit was reached. Then, I demanded a tribute from a planet. They send out 1 ship (technically, they shouldn't even be able to do that) and when it was destroyed, that's it! You've dominated the planet. This works for anything, no matter how big their fleet is supossed to be. Just thought I'd let you all know...

This isn't a bug so much as a cheat. I'm surprised the planet was able to send even one ship. If you max out the number of ships in a system and try to conquor a planet, you get it.

I discovered this in the process of making a plug in in which planets you've dominated offer to add ships to your fleet for 1 year as an additional tribute (it was a timed based mission where the ships offered to you were escorts which had the behavior of protecting you). It became clear very quickly that such a plug allowed the player to become WAYYYY too powerful. I was cruising around with a butt-load of ships and planets were just falling before me.

I suppose you could write an additional mission where other planets fear you because of your growing power and send fleets instead of Bounty Hunters after you, but I never bothered to continue developement. It was way too easy and was more of a cheat plug than anything fun.

    • Actually, this has been known for a long time. I'm surprised you (Meowx) hadn't heard about it long ago...

Anyway, yep, it's a bug/cheat/feature 😄 and I'm guessing it'll be at least minimized in EVN, probably by a larger ships-in-system limit.
