    • How to Make Sprites-- From Scratch!

First you need to make and animate your ship. This can been seen how to animate the ship here: (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/cgi-bin/ubb/postdisplay.cgi?forum=Forum9&topic;=001287")http://www.AmbrosiaS...m9&topic=001287(/url)

Next, we need to figure out an easy way to make the sprites. Well, unfortunately, my way is a little... unique... but it may be adaptable to other methods, so don't give up!

      here is the link:
      (url="http://"http://homepage.mac.com/meebo/sprites/sprites101.htm")http://homepage.mac..../sprites101.htm(/url)

There is about 1 meg of total images to download, and I have 1 broken link that if you really need to see, isn't all that hard to figure out.

Maybe I'll purchase SnapzPro and do it all through QuickTime... Hmmmm...

    • Hehe, Metzen the tutorial man! hehe damn I think it's great that you go through all this trouble to post these tutorials... Grr... too bad that program for the sprites isn't available... Oh well, I'll figure out some way.. hehe

    • I was inspired my Metzen's effort to create my own sprite tutorial, available (url="http://"http://home.earthlink.net/~squibix/art/sprites.html")here(/url). My methods are nowhere near as sophisticated and adaptable as Metzen's, but maybe they'll prove useful for other unsophisicates like myself. 😉 Specifically, I provide one explanation of making sprites using Mechanisto (that traditional program of unsophisticates), Claris Works, and Graphic Converter.

    • hm, maybe you both should team up and make a "How to completely make a ship in EV /EVO"
One version which you can do without spending money, the other version where you have to invest some money.

Nahhh, spending money on a tutorial somehow seems wrong. I'd much rather all tutorials got posted in this thread. I'd like to congratulate Squibix for his efforts and time in putting a tutorial together. He claims that it is not as sophisticated or adaptable as mine but he is saying that because he is just being modest. And, mechanisto is one of the most sophisticated programs to get used to initially. And so he is being a hypocrite in his own right 😉

      Good job Squibix!

I didn't mean it in that way! I meant that in one tutorial the programs that you have to USE cost something, and in the other tutorial you use programs which are for free!

Why thank you! But don't say Mechanisto is hard to get started on! It's easy, easy, I tell you!! 😉

Actually what I meant was that my sprite creation method isn't as adaptable as yours, Metzen, once the ship has already been created. I can do some adujusting for color in Graphic Converter, but I can't mess around with placing the ship in the frame and stuff like that: I have to set all that up before I render.

And Black Beard: if I can ever conquer my laziness I hope to make a few more turorials pertaining to ship creation with Mechanisto. So watch this space!
