      I just got the COOLEST idea for a plug! I'll make it when I finish The Dark Beyond. Ok, it's called Rift.

      Humans are split into 5 independant factions, some at peace, and some at war. After ages of two factions battling, they have another battle near the edge of unexplored space. They all disappear. For months both factions have tried to figure out why, until a scientist proposed a theory. Parallel Universes exist. During the battle, all ships crossed the Rift into another universe. You are a pilot from one of the warring factions, recently expelled from the navy. This universe doesn't seem so friendly anymore. There is only one answer. Cross the Rift.

      So in this plug you can play in your universe, or about 8-12 others that are kinda like it but still different, getting to them by crossing the Rift. A very interesting twist.

      Sounds cool, its longevity would be astounding. although it would take a LOT of work and time (as menchend above by Arada Pilot), and there are other problems like the placing of the universe/how you cross the rift. (i might have some ideas on that) if i weren't so damn busy i'd offer to help, but lemme know if you ever get it flying.

      have a plugin for each rift... and hafta put in a new plug after completing the stuff in the first, etc etc...

      I think you may have missed the point.

      However that would work, but then the player would have to do something, and if they screwed up it might make then just trash the plugin and forget about it. there are other ways around that (more complicated for the plugin designer, but easier for the player)

      Actually, I was thinking about making the Rift a nëbu resource and make everything on the other side use visbits so they wouldn't appear until you did something. Or You could still use the Rift as a Nëbu and that would be in the center of the jump, and the sytems of each universe could just be spaced really far away.

      Couldn't you just make a one-way hyperlink to the new universe, and then whn it's time for the player to go back set ONE visbit for a planet with a one-way link back? That would be much easier than visbitting the whole universe.

      And the idea definately has potential. I can imagine missions that gave to be completed accross more than one universe, complicated by the fact that when you go through the rift it isn't so easy to get back.

      The thing about having them spaced apart is:
      1: if you're going to make the rift a nebula, you can only have four universes.
      2: if you forgot to move one planet it'd be really annoying.
      3: there's the problem that the other universes are still visible on the map even though you're supposed to be in the same place.

      IMHO, making it this way is better: first you make all the systems/planets in your "base" universe, with a visbit of 1000 for each system (using something like EVO Dev.s map) then you duplicate them all in resedit. set all the visbits up 1. then duplicate those and set all the visbits up 1, etc.

      the advantage to doing it this way, is that you can have an almost infinite number of universes, and you could make missions appear on different planets with a random appearance % of say 25. they could be something like "<name of a character> wants you to take him across the rift" then you'd land on a planet or something in the rift and it'd set the mission bit to 100X (x being equal to the universe you want to travel to (e.g. 1001 for universe #2)) this is more complicated for the designer, but much prettier, which is what you want for a plugin like this.

      another thing i was thinking is that this might be better for EVN because then you could take advantage of all the engine upgrades, like the cron resource, and the new mission scripting.

      Yes, both are better ideas. Also, I want to do this for EVO, not EV, so does that mean that I have to buy EVO first?(I haven't bought it cuz I never play it, but I do own EV). Also, I am still looking for someone to help me make it...
      If you would like to "apply" please say what programs(graphics, R&R;, Resedit, ect.) that you are familiar with, say what other plugs (if any) that you have made(I want someone with experience), and also if you are a good graphics artist. Someone pleeeease work with me on this. Thats all. See ya.

      well you don't HAVE to, but it might clear up your conscience (sp?) and its not technically legal. so if i were you i'd buy it. (see if any of those MR/EVO CDs are left, two games for the price of one after all!)

      I can't work during the days on weekdays cuz I have school, or on Tuesday nights or thursday afternoons or various times saturday or sunday morning. If you mean when can I start it, then the answer is anytime. I am still working on The Dark Beyond, but I could work on 2 things at once.

      actually i was kinda refering to me. i'm busy with a few other plugs right now, but they'll be done with in a month (at the most) so i guess... i'll help.
