    • New oütf and gövt resource editor plugins for ResEdit

      Hi everyone!

As a bit of relief from the mission control saga this evening, I just wrote a new gövt editor for ResEdit! (and updated the oütf editor)

The gövt editor brings up a custom dialog for gövt resources in ResEdit, including check boxes for all those endless flag and jamming options! (No more hex calculations! Yay!)

These editors are each about 11kb in size. You just paste the contents of the resource files into your ResEdit 2.1.3 preferences file and then you can start editing outfs and govts just like builtin ResEdit resources. They will work on any system that ResEdit can run on.

There are instructions with each editor and you are expected to read them carefully!

      Get them from;

      as ususal.

      Cheers
      Ralph 🙂

    • Wow! :eek:Those are some great programs!
You really should put them all on the addons page. They're wonderful! 😄

    • YES! THIS IS SO COOL!

You shall always have ops on my metaphorical IRC channel, Ralph.

Please finish Mission Control. Do your Nova stuff later.

I'd really, Really, REALLY like to learn how to do similar things. Can you post information or pointers to information? Where can I learn?

    • Now do an editor for every other resource!

Please! Finish this before you work on your Nova editors!

There are others. I found the best search returns came from using RSSC and resource

    • Riddle:

You know what's better than ResEdit or an editor for creating plugins?

An easy-to-use editing interface IN ResEdit! 😄

I actually like the way ResEdit lets you see resource IDs and the like directly and edit them...very controllable. A nice easy way to input info in that environment would be great! I second that ye make some for all the other resources.

You know, I'd found, a LONG time ago, an alternate set of EV templates. I'd started converting them to EVO, since I'm completely used to them, and they're really easy to use - a toggle for each option. I found them in a plugin called UgLyPlUg, by UgLyJaY. The plug was indeed ugly, but I've used those TMPLs ever since. I'll send them to anyone, if you want (and if I can find them. 😛 Oh, and don't ask for the EVO ones - they're incomplete)

Ah, heck. Just reply here, and if I get 5 or so I'll upload 'em. 😉

Can you send them to me. I think you got my e-mail adress by now 'cause I sent you a messege 10 min ago.

    • Could you make shďp and mďsn editors this way too? i tend to make resources as i go, and your application-based editors don't seem to like files that are in use. also, could you make editors for the rest of the resources? and an EV version and an installer file.. probably made with updaterVISE, because that also finds the file for you. i think that's it.

Do it! Wait, I'm not making a plug! But I can always dream... 😉

(I really would like to see those templates, in case that's not clear. I remember that uglyplug, but I don't think I ever downloaded it; and if I did, it's long gone now!)

Well... I do have a full time job as an astrophysicist and there are only so many hours in the day. 🙂

      but,

I will add to the collection of editors as I go along, some as ResEdit plugins, some as apps, depending on what I
feel is appropriate or possible. Anyone else is of course free to make their own editors too and I'm sure others
will (and do) come up with alternative solutions.

I like working on one thing at a time, so ShipWrite and Mission Control reflect that, and if other people find them useful too
      then that is great.

      (Philosophy on)

I don't think I'll ever make an installer, developers or users of any kind should know how things work well enough to install things themselves. I find installers hide a lot of information and encourage dependence, I prefer more independent resourceful users.

      (Philosophy off)

But thanks for the encouragement, I appreciate it.

      Cheers
      Ralph

    • Could you please just make weapon smith for evo? For old times sake?

Don't worry, Weapon Smith (for EVO and EVN) is high on my list of things I want to do. I am just working on them as I can.
