    • Two questions for you gurus.

Question One: I'm too lazy to learn Res-Edit, and yet EV-Edit is shamefully buggy. Is there another program/s I might use to edit all the junk that one program can do? After having my lovely plug-in effectively corrupted by EV-Edit, and thus rendering all my work unsaved and unuseable, you can understand I'm a bit bitter.

Question Two: I would like to some day work up a plug-in for EV (I'm not a huge fan of EV:O), but quite frankly, I'm not exactly DaVinci when it comes to drawing. Heck, I'm not even Picasso. Is there a resource available that basically has ship designs and masks that I could tie some stats to? I've seen some great ship artwork from some of you guys out there, but I wouldn't be so callous as to just steal a design from another plug and socket it in mine.

      Thanks in advance.

    • Ok...

LEARN RES-EDIT!!! There are other tools that will help you out w/ missions and ships and such, but other than that...learn to love Res Edit...

    • There's some stuff up under 'What editors are available' on the EV Developer's FAQ.

Schmelta V is good for missions — which is EV-Edit's buggiest part.
You should also look at Plug Checker, for getting rid of the EV-Edit bugs.
EV-Developer's map is good for maps, etc.
You could probably use Mission Edit, Shipwrite and the other stuff from Ralph and Rodger, which are very plug-friendly, although you would have to change the file types afterwards to make them EV compliant.

    • Thanks for the suggestions. I do use Schmelta-V from time to time, and I had just downloaded the Developer's Map the other day. I was just wondering if there was an all-inclusive plug design program, similar to EV-Edit, which it seems there is not. But I'll check out that Evula website asap, thanks.

And a special shout-out to Goomeister, who apparently has nothing better to do with his empty life than type in all caps at a newbie to a board. Did it ever occur to you that I did in fact search around before I asked that question? And that I already know a ship designer who was busy working on his own plug last time I checked? And that, Heaven forbid, I was asking other people for their advice, because my search was obviously not sufficiently conclusive? Perhaps I checked the wrong avenues, but hey, jackass, have a little more freakin' courtesy, would you? Remember, there was once a time when you were clueless (probably still are), and I'll bet you were really thankful for the people who chose to HELP you rather than merely display their silly agitation by yelling at you. But hey, it's alright. I understand that you get easily annoyed by having someone ask the same question eighty times. I used to be that way on Battle.net (a horrible, horrible place, if you've never been there). But then, I grew up.

But I'll tell you what! You get to be a düde in my plug, if I ever make it. Lucky you!
