Ok, here's the hypothetical situation:
1.) The player launches a carried ship (CS#1)
2.) CS#1 has a fighter bay--let's say it carries UE. Fighters. We'll assume CS#1 carries only one UE Fighter and we'll call it CS#2
3.) (I don't remember if this falg is correct) When CS#1 launches CS#2, CS#1 is automatically destroyed.
The big question is, what is the behavior of CS#2, now that the ship which carried it is destroyed? In my example, CS#2 is a UE craft, but does CS#2 act as though it is UE (i.e. will attack all enemies of the UE), or is it agnostic (i.e. has no govt behavior and attacks only things that attack it)?
I ask this because the idea of a fleet beacon was discussed on the EVN board. My first thought was that the player could carry a "fleet beacon," which is actually a carried ship. This ship wouild behave essentially like a escape pod, but would be equipped with a couple different ship bays.
The player launches the "beacon" which shoots off into nowhere. It, in turn, launches all it's ships at the same time (fire multiple of this weapon simultaneously), but at really high speed so it looks like they are jumping into the system. At the same time, using the bays cause the "beacon" to be destroyed, making it so the ships that "jumped in" don't head back to it after a given target is destroyed.
That's the idea, anyway. Has this been tried?
