    • What If Preview Pictures!

OK, I know that the What If team (all 2 of us) have been keeping silent for a long while now, but here are some images for you to admire 😉

      A small fighting ship:

      And a basic gun:

      Finally, a space station

OK, that's it for now. If you think you can add to the plug, or were on the team before I lost all the email addresses, email me at (url="http://"mailto:sitharus@ureach.com")mailto:sitharus@ureach.com(/url)sitharus@ureach.com

    • Spiffy.

What'd you use to make 'em?

Opinions: they lack a bit of detail, but maybe they're supposed to...but to me it looks like something's missing detail-wise. The purple/lavender parts on the basic cannon look a bit fuzzy...again, maybe they're supposed to.

      I love dark things. 😄

    • I didnt make the station and ship - that was my (younger) brother ;), he has spent much more time messing around in it than I have, though I am better than him now, his were done about 6 months ago, my gun one was modeled in about 5 mins and took another 1/2 hour for me to find our outdated and somewhat lacking collection of textures.

As for the program, Cinema 4D R6 GO, kinda weird in its methods, eg to lathe you create a lathe object and drag the spline on that, but it has its advantages, like live spline editing even when you've extruded etc and it's lightning fast rendering engine, I preview my models using 3x3 oversampling :).

As for your comments, they are lacking in detail - I need new textures. I'm gonna make some and get some from the texture depot (credit will be given of course).

The cannon looks fuzzy because the glow didnt survive my downsampling and JPEG encoding ;(. Anyway, I hope to release some more soon.

And detail really matters a lot in 256 colours.

    • heh, What If is a plugin by myself and my brother (Halabut - he doesnt come here much). It focuses on and alternate universe where history ran differently - I may have more details of this bit soon. It was originally for EV, but due to the new features in EV:O 1.0.2 we decided to move. We do have plans to port to EV:3, but the EV:O version will be completed before we move.

Basically in the What If universe armour plays a larger part than sheilding, and we have several alien races around.

      Currently we have:
Humans (obviously - it's based around out history)
      Vich'a'pu'be (try pronouncing it 😉 )
      The Outsiders (Name changing soon)
      A mysterious race from Andromeda
      and a couple of others.

And, of course, there are factions, not just in the human side but in the aliens too.

There will be several different main plotlines, some will interlink and some will be mutually exclusive. Also - there are some other minor plotlines in the factions.

Watch out for a beta version with the whole universe in place for EV:O.
