    • EV Data glitch?

While working on a plug-in of mine, I sent an unfinished version out for bug testing. The plug-in connected a system to Sol, and thus had to include Sol in the resources. The tester, using Plug Checker, found that the dude appearance percentages for Sol add up to not 100, but 110. Is this only in my Data file, or are all of them like this?

    • stop using EV-edit and this won't happen 😃

    • No, he's right on the money. It's that way in mine, just from a ResEdit peek. I discovered that when making a scanner spreadsheet/calculator for the old EV RPG that Captain Scurvy started. I don't know why EV doesn't bitch at that...

    • I think you should look again, or something, mine adds up to 100, 15 + 30 +30 +25.

      Weird!
Mine is 120  60-40-10-10 That is really strange. Wonder why EV doesn't puke?

    • Upon reinstalling the EV Data file, I found that mine, too, adds up to 120% (60 + 40 + 10 + 10).
      What's up with this thing?

    • 15, 30, 30, 25 - is from Override, not EV, and is flawless, of course (self-disparaging smilie of some kind).

EV does indeed seem to be 60, 40, 10, 10. I assume that EV doesn't 'puke' because, when generating the random number for the dude (or whatever) it never finds out there are more possibilities - that is, certainly bad things will happen if you go below 100, but above 100 it will probably never find out. Anyone want to mess about with the dude resource and see how much you can mess it about and yet have it still working?

Yeah I realized that it was refering to EV after I posted, but didn't want to waste space reposting, anyway yeah I found mine had 60 40 10 10 too. Maybe you can set them all up to 100%, so that you get that type of ship all the time, and still get others.

Are there any other systems that do this? Just wondering.

A list of systems I found with the 60-40-10-10 dude percentage:

      Centauri
      Tau ceti
      Eridani
      Barnard
      Vega
      Sirius
      Rigel
      Anrates
      Pollux
      Regulus
      Polaris
      Diphida

At this point I got tired of it and quit. There are probably more, but someone else will have to find them 🙂
