Heh, I just implemented a really cool (at least I think so) feature that would allow plug-in makers to specify the density and distribution of star layers :). Also, Blackhole has contacted me and has expressed interest in working with me to finish this faster.
If anything, even if we don't finish this (trust me, I'm going to try my hardest). Maybe Ambrosia will see just how much interest our work generates, and will pick up where we leave off...

The poll is in my opinion made to see if Ambrosia should consider making it. That's what I got from it.
KBurg: Maybe not only let them pickup where you left off but maybe (just maybe) they pickup and work with you. Just my thoughts.
P.S.
I don't think it's really worth much writing for 68k machines (like the one I'm writing from right now) but it would be nice if the game could run on it. At least on a One on one game. Just a thought

and fill out the form and see if Ambrosia will take up your product, that way they can help you with stuff, and you will be able to sell it.
Ambrosia knows everyone wants a Multiplayer EV game, however according to Andrew himself, a game like that would cost half a million to develop, because it would need extensive testing. But if someone comes up with an idea and actually has the skills to follow through, such as Kberg might (I haven't seen his work), then Ambrosia may be interested in helping the Author develop it.
The polls are set up by the moderators, I think we might set up a page with a list of all the old polls, then we will start changing them. I hope.

I don't know what Ambrosia's doing, seeing as I have no contact with'em at all, being a lowly gamer and nothing else, but I think that Escape Velocity Overide Multiplayer would be well worth the effort.
It would cut down on the costs if Ambrosia made the game, and then got a server running and let a bunch of gamers test it. You can be pretty sure that a bunch of gamers can test pretty much everything. EVOMP fanatics (like me) would figuratively kill to get on EVOMP (Note, I said figuratively, I won't actually kill anyone 
), so you wouldn't have to pay us as testers or nothing. (just giving us the game, or just making the thing would be pay enough)

By the way, about the polls, it was up two months ago, it's down now. I got stoned ( )for thinking it was ambrosia that put up polls, take it from someone who's been there, it's the moderators. Well, assorted things people have said here seem wrong:
(1) It's the EV site admins that put up the polls. I'm a moderator but all my powers extend to is deleting the crap you guys put in the Developer's Corner :). I'm not a site admin, just one of those lower forms of life that gets poked around, then has two other moderators added to his board without even being told. </moan>
2. A petition would make no difference IMO. Ambrosia know that nearly everyone would pay large sums of money for a multiplayer EV, but they still insist they won't do it for some rather unspecified reason. Our best hopes lie with the independent people doing it.
