    • [ANN] Add-On Files script up!

The new EV/EVO Add-On Files scripts are finally up and running -- thanks for your patience. Check 'em out at:

      EV Override: (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/games/evo/addons.html")http://www.AmbrosiaS...evo/addons.html(/url)

      Escape Velocity: (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/games/ev/addons.html")http://www.AmbrosiaS.../ev/addons.html(/url)

One thing you'll notice is that there are no descriptions for any of the files listed there; this isn't a limitation of the script, your web site admins are hard at work filling in the descriptions of the plugins. You can help out, too, by mailing descriptions of your own plugin to the admins (their eMail addresses are available on the main EV/EVO pages at (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/games/evo/")http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/games/evo/(/url) and (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/games/ev/")http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/games/ev/(/url) ).

Note that the new script has some cool features, such as the ability to rate a file, the ability to view file listings by name, date, downloads, etc. Explore, and let us know if you find any problems by eMailing them to:

      contact@sine.com

Please ONLY mail problems you encounter with the Add-On Files scripts to that address.

    • My first impressions I got from the addons page was good, it looked good, had lists of the most popular items in different categories, but later when I went to look for a few things, such as a link to resedit and the EV bible, to give to someone, I had to go through multitudes of pages, first, click on view more for utilities, and find its not there, then I go back and scroll down to the bottom, and hit, view more, this brings me to a page of all EV files listed by date, so I have to sort them by name, then I have to scroll to the bottom again and guess what number "R" is under and after 3 tries find it, and then theres two resedits, one, a graphic left over from the original system, the other the file. So finally I find it. Then I have to repeat the guessing game with the EV bible guessing where "E" is and am presented with the graphic problem, granted you can tell which is the graphic by its size, its still annoying, and non intuitive, kind of like windows.

The entire addons page needs to be reorganized, with first on the main page there needs to be an easy way to get to what you want. Heres a way you could do it. Have two popup menu's one with "All files" "Plugs" "Editors" etc... and the other with "A-C" "D-F" etc... and then you can click go and get the page, making it easy to find a file you know the name of. Also a search feature could help. The problem with the graphics being listed in the script confuses some people, while it may be easy to see which is real just by mousing over the link, it would be better if the script was set to ignore pictures as files, and instead loaded them next to there respective file. This would also help plug designers as they could design an attractive LITTLE icon. As a picture is worth a thousand words.

The problem of no descriptions I won't complain about to you Ambrosia, but to the Admin's who should have done more files by now. 2 files just isn't enough.

So Andrew, want to make it something we would really like, as you promised?

    • I actually prefer going to ftp.ambrosiasw.com/pub. It's faster loading for me, easy to read, and just something I'm used to.
