I downloaded a ship for my plug-in from an online shipyard. I have just one little problem, the target pic is a color picture of the ship facing left and dosn't match the other target pics. Can anyone here convert this into a EV-stlye green and black outline?

the tuff do what?
The easiest way would probably be to ask the author to do it. If he still has the the ship in an unrendered form, he should be able to do it fairly easily. Or you could just download EVTG that makes all the target pics colored. But Jol'Jvik did have a good suggestion which I should have thought of myself; ask the author, if you haven't already. I will need to do this myself for ships that I downloaded from eeun's shipyard. Is this where you got the ships you're talking about? Great vessels, very stylish, but those darned colored targets...!
Anyway: it can't hurt to ask.

The only problem is that Caernarvon Station (were I downloaded it from) has no e-mail link. Also, I have another question. Would anyone really care if the ship had a target graphic or not? The target pics have to come from some pre-established knowledge, and since the ship in question is a prototype whose only purpose in life is to be destroyed by the player and never be seen again, having no target pic might make sense. Answer PLEASE.

You should always include a target pic for your ship, but you could make the pic a strange image that makes no sense and says something like "Image Distorted" or "Insufficient Data". I have seen and made several plugins that do this. It adds the effect that you don't know anything about the ship you are targeting. Or as I said in the "Cloaking" post

you could simply make a pic that says "No Target" and shows no image. This would add the illusion that the ship is cloaked.

Well I had a good idea. Make the guy that gives you the mission say something like-"this ship's IFF has been modified to provide us only with a visual scan of the ship". It's a minor fix, but a good ide

I have absolutely no graphical talent. I don't think that I could make a straight line using even $2,000 graphic design software. Can someone design a taget pic that says "Unknown Target" or "Insufficent Data" or something like that? Your help would be appreciated.

Hey, that's about my level of graphic design.
Of course, I recently made a full set of target pics using the sprites of ships. (I think i already mentioned this.) Just get a normal PICT editor and cut and paste.
I'd love to send you my 'Unknown Target' and 'Image Too Large' pics, but my Quadra doesn't have net access. Sorry. :
