    • Hoes anyone have any ideas why this is happening?...

So I'm making this plug-in ("all further information on your level is restricted") and I pop a few replacements for Blaze Cannons, Rockets and str# resources in (hint: total conversion plug) and suddenly whenever I hyper into a system there's a short delay after the flash where everything stops. This is one of those things that has the potential to get REAL annoying.

      Ideas anyone?

This is one those plugs that I vow to finish no matter how long it takes! (And it looks to take a long time...) Hopefully I'll be able to get another member of CTE to replace the galaxy for me from the map I'm drawing...

Just to start a few rumours, well, there aren't any humans in this galaxy... 😉

    • Oops! Having typos in the title really makes you look bad! 🙂

    • Two things come to mind.

      1. If you were trying to replace the warp sound, I think that might be prolonging the warp period. Sounds that are too long don't seem as good as shorter ones.

      2. If you're running on a slower computer (i.e. something other than a powerpc) that would definetly play a part in its short blip.

Of course, you might already have guessed this. But, with just a short pause, I wouldn't be concerned with it if I were you. 🙂
Some people won't know the difference (as they already do have the problem).

      Sincerely,
      Zeta

Sleep?! Oh yah... I did that last week!

    • I have a PowerMac, a slower one though but EVO always works fine, just a little sluggish. Funny how after playing EVO EV seemed like it was running so insanely fast that I buggged Ambrosia's tech support about it. In my case turning up the game speed fixes the problem of EVO being sluggish.

I recently reorganized the fuction of all my little custom plug-ins and suddenly I get the short pause after I exit hyperspace. It must have something to do with resources being replaced... Maybe it'll go away after I've replaced everything, after all the Frozen Heart and Femme Fatale don't have this problem.

    • Are you trying to modify the warp sound or not? Knowing this would let me help you more easily.

    • No I'm not. I'm not an idiot... I can't get SoundEffects to do more than add buzzes or wierd echo effects to things, hardly enough to make sound effects for EV with.

    • Check the resources for the system. Try verifying that all the dude resources used in the system, and the ships used in each dude have no empty fields. I've found that if you don't specify all 100% of the dudes that appear across all four fields, then EVO will create strange effects, ghost ships, pauses, and crashes among them. Even if you use only one dude type to appear in a system, spread the same dude number across all four fields with 25% given to each one. Same goes for ships in the dudes.

    • Well I haven't even touched the dude resources yet and I know all that from experience... 😉
