    • Anyone know where I might find... (also suggestions)...

Alrighty, I was thinking it might be interesting to have an Emalgha space station in my plug-in, but serious questions arose, including WHERE might I find one?

Anyone know where I might find a good 'primative' station?

      Reason:
Emalgha, Renegades (some), human independents and 'freed' (or rebel) Voinian planets have joined together for protection under the temporary government, "Confederacy" ... after developing my plot I realized how history DOES repeat.. even in plugs... 😉

Now, at first the Emalgha are alone in the west and I wondered if I should have a station for them, I considered making one... or using pre-made graphics, or just let the UE build one for them as a good relation thingie....

      1. Should Emalghion or Kelmoan have a space station?
        if yes then
        what kind? UE or Emalgha?
Do you know where I might find one on the www?
        if no then
Do you have some kinda bias against them just cuz they're primative? =P
        end ask
    • If there are rebel, liberated or captured Voinian planets in the Confederacy, why not a Voinian station? Probably the Emalgha would ally with the Hinwar - similar pasts and everything - so they could enlist Hinwari aid.

An evil alternative: the Emalgha use the hull of a captured Voinian Dreadnaught for their station. Create a mission string where, for whatever reason, the player has to dock at the now-hostile station to land Marines, rescue another Voinian defector (which the Emalgha don't want the UE to have) etc. "Don't worry, we've given you a master set of Emalgha docking codes, you should have no trouble once you've got past their picket ships". Riiiight. Player kites into the system, approaches the "station" and suddenly finds him/herself under Dreadnaught-style neutron and rocket attack :D.

    • Actually, having read Mazca's post on planetary weapons I'm wondering if the Dreadnaught idea would work. Oh well, it passed an idle 5 minutes...

    • Good Idea!!!
Perhaps the concept of a voinian station would be better than the dreadnought idea as, if you think about it, how the hell would the emalgha survive an attack on a dreadnought. I mean it took me three tries to do that and I had an ultimate combat rating (achieved, I'll thank you to note completely without cheating in any fashion whatsoever as I have no access to any editors for EVO.) so, perhaps the concept of a captured cruiser is slightly more realistic but you could perhaps manage to say that the hinwar and the emalgha have become allies and that they have seriously upgraded the cruiser making it into a sort of orbital battle platform. Of course, It couldn't move if they did this so I would suggest that you should set It up as a station graphic. You could have the game re-written to allow the player to start as a hinwari fighter pilot who graduates up to becoming a frigate captain and so on.
Possible mission plots could be defense of systems aginst voinians.(set after fall of voinian empire begins.) you could also have traitor UE captains who might try to dominate the worlds which the player defends. feel free to ignore these ideas after all, it's your plug. 🙂

    • Yea, go ahead... I didn't have any ideas like that.

In a 3D version of EV (more like game like EV...) I have been experiment ideas with, I decided that unlike EV, you are already IN the Navy. Thus start out in a wimpy fighter ship...
I also considered that for GWII, however, that does not go with the theme of EVO.

Especially that Hinwar idea... in GWII the Hinwar are right between the Aliens and the Voinians, which basically means if the fight the Voinians, the Aliens will take them, if they fight the Aliens, the Voinians get them.... no idependence for the captured Voinian races in GWII.... atleast not until the Aliens AND Voinians are weak enough...

Thanks Mikee. If there are no objections from Mr. Browning I'll go ahead and do this - at least it'll need a minimum of new graphics, so it should make quite a quick first plug (famous last words). I'll put a note in the credits to the effect that it's "based on an idea by" yourself.

By the way, which 3D game was this?

    • I'll make the station if you want. Just tell me how you want it. Wooden (hmm, probably bad idea), bulky Voinianish, slim UEish, or other. I already have a design in my head: it would be kind of like a hexagon or octagon extruded along a straght line (could bulge in the center, or even come to a point at the ends) and have thin projections either at every edge or face that widens into a large flat area. Of course it's just an idea and if you'd like something else, I could still do it.

      Respond if you're interested.

    • Yea, that'd be great but...
What I want in my plug-in is stuff that looks very EVO, basically looks like it came from the exact same author. If you could do a good job, I'd love it.

First though, do you have some graphics that might show you could do this well, I am semi-picky and I just want to make sure I like your 'style'. I don't want you to go to all the trouble...

If you have a site that might show stuff, give the url. Or just email me what you have at mikewayne@ou.edu
Oh, also what program do you use, if its a 3D like with Infini-D maybe you could send that (the 3D object file)... once we decide to do this or not....

      THANKS!!!!

    • As for a description, just use the words to describe Emalgha ships and outfits.

      Wooden and metal
      Primative
      'Emalgha looking'

As for the wooden part of the station...
What I see is something thats mostly metal, but perhaps with a lot of wood used it in. As that is what the Emalgha are infamous for...

Maybe, (just quick idea), having a wooden 'donut' with lots of metal coming off of it, or metal rings ON it, like for reinforcement or whatever...

I just see wood+metal on something primative and poorily built....

      Anyone else wanna add???

I was going to add more metal, but I kinda forgot.
But hey, if you like it, you can tell me where to add the extra metal. 🙂

    • I like it so far, its real creative.

I tried making one with Infini-D, but like you said, wood looks kinda bad.

I like the little plates, hmm perhaps you could stretch them a little, so it give coverage on the top and bottom near the outter part as well... like having them shaped a little more C-like.

Or better yet, make little metal strips going around the station, like where the panels meet...
So its like the panels are connecting at the metal 'circular' strips. That gives it a less 'boxy' look

Yea, try adding metal to where the panels meet, which will dull out that pointy angle look, and just bend the panels into more C-like, more like having half the height added, and bent at a 45 degree angle on both ends? The only thing I dont like very much is that thingie in the center. I like the little panels connecting to it though, maybe you can just have the panels coming together or something.

REAL GOOD JOB! Just perhaps experiment a little more, oh and look at the ships sometime, perhaps take some ideas of that? Look at the pointy spikes coming out, might be neat having spikes on the station? And that nice black glass dome is neat, maybe you could have something black glassy somewhere near the center.

Just more ideas from me, just try to think of what it will look like at 60x60 or 50 or whatever and at 271x333.
      Keep it up!
Hey, I may draw on the pic and send it back to you will some of my ideas, do you want it sent to your email listed, thats where I will send it first... NICE!!!!!!!!

    • Oh I got it...

Look at an Emalgha fighter sometime. See how its cockpit is a black dome with metal around it with spikes. If there was a way to mix that, like if that dome cockpit was a station, with what you have, that'd be awesome.

See, I don't believe the Emalgha would use all the glass and metal, they would incooperate alot of wood into the design.

I think somewhere between that dome and what you have lies the perfect Emalgha station, what do you think?
