    • New Plug-in Idea...


      Hey all you ladies and gentlemen out there, I have a new plug-in going that adds a new race, two new goverments, a mass of new ships and continues the wars between UE and the Voinians.
      Ok, so this new race has been hiding and has recently announced itself an it's advanced amphibious ship technology to the galaxy. They want to carve out their own little niche in space, but they are just a little too close to the Voinians for their own good. The UE and Miranu come and ally with this race and try to save them from the Voinians. This also has you and D'Erlon making lots of stealth missions behind enemy lines. It will focus more on plot than combat, but there WILL be some real HARD battles in it. I will add some freeware planet graphics I got from the net, and add "dropships" to the UE arsenal which carry space marines. Yup. Also, the Zachit will play a role. AND THE COUNCIL IS NOT INVOLVED thank you very much... Criticisms and suggestions?

      Sounds good. How much have you done so far? What's the release date?

    • Hmm, dropships? How would this function? Would the marines be able to shoot or something, or would it be totally unarmed (except for maybe light defensive stuff like a couple blaze turrets) and only serve a plot role? I, too, have considered making near-unarmed ships for plot purposes. Can't say exactly what, because I want it to be a surprise when the plug comes out, but it involves some cool visbit effects and a ship with heavy bombing capabilites (and I mean BIG guns, not a ship loaded with rockets).
      Anyway, it would be cool if you could take over a planet for your government by landing a dropship on it in a special mission. (Which would be a nice use of it) But how do you figure in if the player has already dominated the planet? "Ok mr cool mercenary pilot dude who's helping us kick butt, bring these troops to your planet so we can take it over". Possibly you could give it a mega tough defense fleet, but the player could of course use the Monty Python. Or just put in VAST numbers so it would take hours to take the planet (Still haven't taken over Earth or Stardock Alpha in my game on a mega powerful cheat plug...). But then there's filling the system with fighters.
      Anyway I'm just ranting about possibilites here, you asked for suggestions and criticism, so I'll cut to the point.

      Criticism: I could probably think of some if I sat and pondered everything for an hour, but I don't have an hour to waste thinking of things to criticise people with.

    • Yeah, I'm working on a mission where you escort ten dropsihps to a Voinian planet and take it over. The space marines are outfitted with three blaze cannons. I HAVE made another dinky ship for plot purposes, what I call simply, The Colony Ship. It is huge and can carry 600 tons of cargo. As for a release date, well, I hope to have it done around 2001, but it all depends on how much homework I get. 🙂
      Should I make my new race, the Dilanu, weak or really strong? They're amphibious by the way.

    • This is for EVO if you didn't guess that already. I have the ship graphics and one of the systems done... right now I'm working on the missions. Should I make the Emalgha play a role in this?
