      about EVO in general

      1. a) I never seem to run across Disco Bison. Where can he be found, and what are the probabilities that I'll see him there?
      B) What government is the Disco Bison associated with, if any?
      c) What ship does he fly?
      2. Is the Council Station defense fleet infinite, or just really large in number?
      3. Where can I find a tool to make plug-ins for EVO?

    • As far as I know, the Disco Bison can be found anywhere. He is a trader, I believe, and flies an Emalghan warship.
Council Station has 1500 crescent warships, I think.
      Here.

The game is full of special ships like the Disco Bison. You can't find then specifically, they just show up here and there and everywhere.

I'd say there are... gobs. shrugs Don't know, sorry. If you had ResEdit you could open the game up and find out. I have ResEdit, but I'm feeling too lazy to check for you. Besides, you could do a search on this website and find many topics regarding this very question.

      3. Where can I find a tool to make plug-ins for EVO?

In the EVO tool shed. It's right over there. points See it? Just kidding. The question has been asked a bazillion times. You'll probably need the EVOBible, ResEdit, MissionComputer, and... um... I can't remember the other utilities. Head down to the Developers Corner, they can help you. Or.... do a search.

      Good luck!

Yeah, I already know about the add-ons page for EVO, but it's easier to make a plug-in for personal use for every little whim I have rather than going through pages of plug-ins to see if it's already been done.

      MissionComputer

Mission Computer is made by David Arthur, right? And I thought it was only a tool for making plug-ins for Nova.
      Is ResEdit free?

I was only curious about the Council station because I attacked it for 2 hours running once when I was bored. I had an Azdara that was near invincible on it's own, and 6 Igazra Escorts, but I didn't seem to even make a dent in their defense.

I know that about pers's, I was just wondering if Disco Bison was prone to appear in certain systems more than others.

    • Two things. First, defense fleets remember how many of their ships you've killed. You can land to recharge and rearm and then resume where you were. Second, an Azdara, an Enhanced Arada, or a Dreadnought, especially with Dreadnought escorts, can crush the Council Station fleet. It just takes time. Even with seven Dreadnoughts. Third, if you don't like the idea of capturing mission ships, or if you've missed the chance to get Dreadnoughts, Voinian Cruisers are almost as good. Nearly invincible in the Crescent.

EV Nova gets talked about the most for obvious reasons, but MissionComputer supports all three games (and, in fact, the first few versions supported only EV Override ).

Yes. There's a link to it on EV-Nova.net.

    • Qaanol - do EVO stellars remember how much of their fleet you've nuked, or is that strictly an EVN feature? I mean sure, most people will be playing EVO only through the EVN plugin, but you never know...

Also, if I recall correctly, Council station is distinctly not worth conquering unless you're an obsessive completionist.

EVO stellars DO remember how many of their fleet you've destroyed. I've tested it out on Freeport and North Tip Station.
And I am, in fact, an "obsessive completionist." One red circle in the middle of all that green just has to go. 😛

    • I was sure it was a Nova feature.

    • It works on both engines. As I;ve said, I've tested it out. I dominated North Tip station in one run and counted the number of Aradas and Crescent Fighters that came out (I forget the number). Then I reloaded the pilot and destroyed half the fleet, jumped out, and jumped back in.

    • I never see the dico bison either

I've destroyed the Bison. It's hard - probably the hardest pers that hasn't just killed me outright... but it can be done. Some folks have captured him! Not much point, since the ship reverts to being a bog-standard Emalgha warship... but it can be done, for fun. Killing Disco Bison is best contemplated when you have a good set of escorts... and you don't mind losing a few.

    • The Disco Bison is easy. Just wait til it uses up all the SAEs then move in behind and hammer it with as many primary weapons as you can. As long as you keep behind it it can't hurt you. Just like the Alien Cruiser from EV but without the pesky fighters.

    • hehehe
      I dominated Council station!

    • Congrats. Without cheating?

    • yup. well, sort of. I captured a dreadnought, aborted about 100 times, captured 6 escorts, and killed them all. I had to jump out the system a couple of times though. 😄
