      Hope everyone's ready!

As Borb walked through the hallway, he was worried... The young ensign he talked to earlier wasn't worthy of a badge, but he was still right...
The Emalgha weren't as submissive as everyone had hoped.. They were wasting resorces, and the time and money spent conquering them wasn't paying off, although the women were still quite attractive.. The exotic look made them into excellent... servants.. for male commanders...

Fear is always a good incentive to behave.. We have to get them back to work on their homeworld.... The planet Emalgha has a moon that's underproducing anyway... Might as well teach the fools what happens when they don't do as they say..." Borb wrote, as he replied to the ensign's message...

He then wrote a petition to the Stellena House for a fleet of his own... He promised them that he would make sure the Emalgha stayed in line from here on out, and being the lead admiral, the house wouldn't turn him down.

Also, since his last flagship was destroyed by an Emalgha Rebellion, He wrote in for a new flagship...Except this one will have all reincorcements and armor as pure bronev, instead of the 80% Bronev Alloy that's used in all the others.

The president of the Earth Republic sat in his chair, he grinned, because everything was perfect. 4 more planets had been claimed in the name of humanity, and 2 had already begun conolisation.. Alpha Centauri was well off, and had doubled the food supply. With an infinate number of planets at the human's disposal, the former problem of overpopulation was no longer an issue.

He was guaranteed to win the election, since everyone believed he was responsible for the colonisation effort... The civilians don't know that an ancient US President, Bush, had ordered that all the figures be calculated and the ships pre-constructed in a air base in arizona.

What the civilians didn't know won't hurt them.. Then again, they are all desperate to know if there are other races, but the shuttles and freightors don't have the range to really explore...
The president began typing a memo to the R&D; Department, for them to design a ship with a longer range.

    • Hey, rechigh, I'm gonna post this...anything you think I need to change, or something I'm not doing right, please tell me and i'll fix it...

As the President of the Earth Republic had called for increased ship production and colonization, many companies rose to the task. Old and established companies in the aerospace market were the first. However, there were many who knew this would be a highly lucrative market so they started new companies, and began looking at new designs.
Hank Zorin, CEO of Profit EnterprisesŠ, was contemplating something the president of the company had just told him. All the presidents of companies currently building or making plans to build spacecraft had been called to a conference hosted by the government. In that conference, they had been informed that while the government was encouraging production, new rules and regulations would be put in place for safety purposes. “This will slow our production for sure...” he mused. Although the company was set up like most of that size, Profit Enterprises was not a public company, and Zorin, had considerably more power and influence than most CEOs. “The government is a goddamn bother,” he fumed. We can’t always have them regulating us like this...the times will have to change...”

    • Asa'nori survayed the lush green planet below for a suitable landing spot for the fleet with his particularly brilliant tactician Captain Falcanad . But that was not what kept him occupied...His thoughts were on thier beloved homeworld Gazdiar and its untimely fate. They had been the earlies of the three factions that escaped from the chaos. Only to be presued up until the galactic barrier, and then left for dead. It had not been easy, but a cruel life was eeked from what remained until they found this lush world, a perverbial diamond in the rough. Soon they would be colonizing this newfound home of thier's, and possibly three of its 14 moons, but it would never compare to the splendor that had once been on Gazdiar. Better then anyone Asa'nori knew they were all the same, that the traits of thier factions were not genetic but of social upbringing. For Asa'nori was himself 1/20 Igazra in heritage, but it did not make him paranoid or cruel, nor did his other lineage make him violent or eccentric. He was a logical man of simple values and advanced tactics, nothing more.

As the colony was being established the question came to what they should call thier new home. It was eventually agreed to call it Azdgari, hope amoung ashes

    • OOC: I'll attempt construction numbers at the present level, but maybe we should slow production speed. Are present vessel numbers and systems all right? How about the time to finish colonizing a habitable system? I'll correct anything someone has difficulty with. I'm also using the "old" version of the courier as my freighter, if that's all right.

The city was a beautiful example of harmony, the cityscape was as dotted with trees as it was with buildings. There was no violence, there was no hatred, there was not poverty. There was only perfection. The sun was rising and the city efficiently bustled with scheduled transport as thousands rushed about, bettering society and themselves through efficient work.

The light shined through an office window and a ragged individual looked up and sighed at the sun. He hit a button his computer and the door opened, admitting the first supplicant.

"Bir* be praised, we greet you with the day."

"Forget the ritual, you know I don't follow that ignorant superstition. Get to the point."

"Sad that one with so much power doesn't believe the truth, and to think we used to support the monarchy."

"You got what you wanted, a perfect world. Through my mothers hard work. Now I have to continue the tradition without the escapist belief that I will be blessed for eternity."

"Let us focus on the work before us, Shirat**. You know why we have come."

"Do you have to talk in the plural?" The man standing in the doorway starts to speak but is cut off. "Forget it, rhetorical question. You want a planet where the non-reformist Ulo(†) can go and live free from my interference, and I'd really like to get rid of you. However the terms are the issue, have you decided to accept the ones I sent to you?"

"Did you expect us to?" He looks towards the haggard monarch, who doesn't attempt to say anything. "I'll take that as a no, we cannot really be expected to fund the venture ourselves and then pay all excess crops to the government for those limited resources. If you want us to leave so much fund our venture and let us be truly free."

"For what? Mob rule? You Ulo propose breaking the natural order and invite a return to the dark ages. People should be free, but they need a leader."

      "They can lead themselves."

"There is no way I will give you my funds in order to create a war between our nations."

"At least provide transportation, you own all the vessels that travel here, how can we leave without them?"

"I hear a concession, good for you, if you will pay all expenses I will provide twelve Puero(††) and you will take this planet." He turns his display to the supplicant.

"What? That system is unbearably far away, you expect us to pay for the fuel. With only Puero it would take more then twelve trips to transport all the colonists and equipment waiting. You're talking about an expensive expedition."

"I'm willing to compromise, I'll pay for fuel."

"How can we pay the required tribute if we're that far away?"

"I'll send a few convoys every year to inspect your colony and rate your progress, they'll take away your excess and give you improved technology based on your progress."

      "We will consider it."

"Oh yes, you're going to come to a communal consensus. Like that's likely."

The religious man turns to leave and glances at the monarch with mild irritation. "Good day Shirat."

The monarch replies, with more then a touch of scorn. "Good day Cempus."***

    • The repairs were complete and colinization was well underway. Two shuttles werre canniblized to activate the ACS Twilight colony ship and deploy its equiptment: Two small mechanical factories, a landing strip, and various agroculural equipments. Only one was activated because the technology involved in creating them was lost in the final catastrophy at Gazdair.

Asa'nori realized that they would have to develop more fomidable defencive systems in order to protect themselves if they were again hunted, so he ordered Captian Falcanad to assemble a team of engineers and attempt to soup-up one of thier primitive Crecent Fighters-(Remember That They Are They Same Fighter As The Miranu's Miro Fighter But Under Another Name)-and perhaps find a way to put thier weapons on swivel mounts without tripling the weeapon's mass. • The docks of Kirakka were overflowing, the influx of Puero for the exodus was just beginning, but millions of devoted Ulo were waiting in preparation. They had gathered every resource they had and sold it to the Cempus and private companies who provided them with transportation and supplies. The capitalists had paid much more then the Cempus was willing to offer, but She had provided hassle-free exchange that could be done in massive quantities without influence by the laws of supply and demand, giving Her a major advantage. The nearly bareback travelers had come from all over Mirava to board a tiny vessel for a week of travel, followed by decades of back-breaking labor, for either adventure, or religion.

In her apartment office the Cempus curses gently while typing and then speaks toward her computer. "Provide them housing. Bir is confounding my efforts again."

A small text box appears in the lower right quadrant of the screen.

      Message acknowledged. What district?

She continues typing on another subject while speaking softly. "What district has enough openings?"

You know that none do. We could split them between Yirat and Clie and house the rest in the shuttles.

"It'll have to do, how long until they will all be able to leave?"

It will be weeks, vital supplies are being transmitted now, and some Puero have yet to arrive.

"Do it." The bottom right quadrant blinks out then reappears with the designs of a potential weaponry system and the woman continues to work, bedraggled and exhausted, but with dogged determination.

    • OOC: Good job people, but colonisation takes 8 days... For decent shipyards to be built, it will take 10 more days. Not every planet has a shipyard, like the game. Shipyard will increase your production rate. Also, Switchblade, Don't get too mad at the government yet. You'll know it when it gets bad... right now, it's completely normal.. Nothing worth venturing out into unknown space for a new home. 😉

      ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As Borb looked over the alert he had gotten, telling him his fleet was completed, he grinned from ear to ear. Now he was ready to teach those pesky Emalgha a lesson about following directions.

He moved his fleet to Emalgha and landed on one of the moons. He then got on the air, and made a broadcast to all inhabitants.

"This is Borb, High Commander of the Voinian War effort. I have heard the Emalgha's cries, and I have decided if they do not want to work, they don't have to. Emalghions on this planet will never again have to feel the pain of the menial tasks, or hear the voices of their owners. All voinians are hereby ordered to leave this planet at once. You have 8 hours to leave. No Emalghion slaves are allowed to leave this planet. That is all."

Borb calmly walked back to his cruiser, which soon achieved orbit and sat there, in low Emalghion orbit.
Ten minutes later, a small gray voinian ship took off and left the system. It was followed by another.. and another.. until swarms of voinian ships were evacuating the planet.

Within 6 hours, the flow of ships had slowed to a trickle. Soon the voinian ships were out of sight, and only borb's ship was in low orbit of this particular moon. Borb flicked the switch, and held his finger over a flashing red button on his console.
He opened the Comm to all frequencies, even the ones the planets below could pick up.
"All ships, begin the bombardment. Fire at will, and let no ship leave the surface."
Seconds later, the sky was filled with bright red as the space mines entered orbit, flaring red hot from friction through the moon's atmosphere.

The Emalghions knew what was happening, but there was nothing they could do.. Most stood helpless, holding their family tightly, and some flooded into the bars for one last drink.
Mass hysteria took over, but it wouldn't last long.

      -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In one mountain range, one Emalghion on that moon still had hope. Sadly, the rebellion that the Voinians didn't know existed, happened to be focused on that very moon....

Ever since the invasion, these brave souls had been preparing for the chance to rescue their brothers.. but now, all they could hope for was to survive.

They had several primitive fighters, but none had the fuel to leave the system... They had one hope.
A Voinian fighter they had scavenged from the junk heap. It's automatic pilot systems and secondary weapons were shot, but it could leave. As explosions began rocking the capital, a young female.. Io.. was crying..
"Io, you're the only one that can fly the ship and it doesn't have the space for anyone to go with you... but you have to go." Her mom said through her own tears..

Her father held them both.. "You're the strongest person I know.. You have a strong spirit.. You're fate is to free your brothers and sisters, but if you don't leave, it'll never happen. You have to go now. I know you feel the ground shaking.. The planets core will explode soon. You have to go! GO NOW!"

Io knew he was right.. She gave them both a hug, before running to the voinian fighter. Several Emalghion fighters were leaving, but she couldn't worry about them. She just had to escape. She ascended through the atmosphere, and as she looked back, it was just the right time to see a mine land on the highest mounted in the range.. She had to look away as a landslide covered her family's small colony.

Suddenly the fighter rocked as a neutron blast hit the side.
She opened a visual, and barely dodged the next blast. A Voinian fighter was on her tail. She tried to lose it, but it was no use. Another neutron blast hit the fighter.. One more and it would be gone. All hope would be lost with just one more hit. A Klaxxon sounded... A rocket had been launched. She moved out of the way just in time... As it shot by, the fighter was impacted by the rocket's exhaust. It had been way too close.
The comm came on. In the rebellion's frequency.
"Io.. static you have to go now.. static You won't make it out of the system, but I'll slow the fighter... Land on the planet.. On Emalgha...static"

She looked back to see an Emalgha fighter crash into the fighter that was following her, and both exploded into a giant fireball. She made her way to Emalgha, and crash-landed in the outskirts of the city. She donned the heat-blocking cloak and ran from the ship as it exploded... A Frigate passed over and kept going... Obviously no survivors, and this was the only ship to leave the bombardment target.

She made her way to the city, knowing that she could fit in as long as she hid her face....

    • As the new spaceship was being developed, test pilots were being interviewed and hired to fly the new craft once it was completed. These were a shady looking bunch, and it was questionable how reliable they would be. However, Profit EnterprisesŠ was not exactly a reputable company either, so these were the type they preferred anyway. One such test pilot was out there, that they were particularly interested in hiring. Jason Wallace, an accomplished pilot, who had been highly recommended. Very clever, talented, and devious were how most of the descriptions read.

Hank Zorin walked into his office and started looking through the memos that were on his desk. One read, “Wallace hiring difficult. Need more time.” Another, “Ship production moving along. Approximately six more days.” Yet another, “Progress on weapon slow, but made a major breaktrough just last night.” The last one was rather cryptic, “No luck from the mission. Will follow-up with another team in the 4 quadrant.” He all but ignored the last three, deciding to focus instead on the first one.

“How much time do they need to hire a lousy pilot?”

He activated visual communicator and after a brief moment got the agent in charge of that particular task on screen.

“What seems to be the difficulty?”

“Sir, this man is hard to find. He isn’t listed publicly anywhere, and his records aren’t much of a help either. The only way to find him is to contact those who know him. We are getting there, but it will take time.”

“You’ve got exactly 6 days to find him. If you haven’t got him to sign a contract and have him here on the 7 day, I wouldn’t return here if I were you.”

And with that, Zorin severed the connection.

Obviously, hiring pilots wasn’t all that Profit EnterprisesŠ was up to. At least, that was what the rumors conveyed. Filtering down all the way from Zorin was a rumor that some sort of secret plan was being formed. In addition, expeditions were being sent out, some that didn’t return for months. Whatever it was, that all this was leading up to, it wouldn’t be long before some major changes occurred.

    • Progress was going slow. One of the shuttles was stripped for additional repairs on the colony ship but many of the irriplacible compnents were damaged beyond repair.Azdari was a lorge world, and the first settlement was only halfway done.Perhaps once it was up and running production could increase, but the pre-assembled factories were preocupied with creating components for other factories at the time being.

Captain Falcanad had been very successful over the night trying to upgrade the shielding-he couldn't fit in more capacitors so he removed some of them and placed several rechargers in their place. This had mixed results-Althought it now had less shielding it could recharge them almost as fast as current weapons could deplete them.Already he was moving onto speed and acceleration upgrades, but he suspected it would take longer than anticipated.

    • The shuttles had left Yilt port and carried thousands of the colonists with them to Zimla and onward to their new home. Zimla had agreed to host a large number free in exchange for labor setting up their facilities. The potential colonists readily agreed as they needed to learn how to produce a stable infrastructure for their home. Now a few technicians and a massive supply of equipment flew in twelve Puero from Zimla to a distant system, as of yet unnamed. The name would be the first sign of Ul independence, and perhaps Bir would smile upon the name and the inhabitants.

A man stood in the control center of the small shuttle, as cramped as it was he still preferred it to the musty storage bays. "Pilot, is the vessel capable of making this exit?"

"She's old brother, but she has made the trip for a hundred years. She made it through the dark ages as a cargo hauler so she's seen more dangerous things then a takeoff."

"That could have been more reassuring."

"All I can tell you is the truth, and the truth is you're more likely to be struck by lightning in space, then she is to crash. You'll be just fine."

"Good. If you don't mind me asking," she nods slightly, "why were you assigned to this mission? I wouldn't think a straight flight would interest you."

"It doesn't, several of us were sent for minor violations of protocol, but not me. I volunteered. I've been meaning to settle down somewhere and your little world sounds like my style. The government will leave you three Puero to take care of yourselves, but not many pilots."

"I hadn't thought about that, how many qualified pilots are among the colonists?" His question is not addressed at the pilot, but rather a small spherical computer.

No qualified pilots number among the colonists.

"Brother, you could have asked me that. I'm going to have to train some of you fellows how to fly. Otherwise you'll have one Puer and two wrecks."

"Are you allowed to teach passengers before we arrive?"

"I only have one passenger, this was an equipment barge. I"m guessing I know what you're suggesting though, why don't you sit down and prepare for the jump."

"When did we get out of the atmosphere? I don't see any change outside."

"You thought those were windows?" The pilot bursts into a long laughter, her voice much sweeter and much less harsh then when she spoke. "My brother, we fly by sensor input, some of those 'fancy' ships may have windows but these old beut's are just sheets of metal. Much safer for an old ship, and cheaper then manufacturing a big load of crystals."

"Then what is the crystal with a scene of a takeoff about?"

"To confuse naive landers, I liked the scene and during a week of repairs to the engine I painted it and covered it in glass, you know for lamination. It's pretty as can be and the reaction of you was well worth the hundred piro it cost."

"I guess you'll have to show me quite a bit."

"I'll show you enough, sit down and watch what I do to orchestrate a jump. You won't be able to do this without weeks of training, but these shuttles will mainly be used for orbital flights, simple stuff, you know." The anarchist sits down. "Here we go brother. Let's go."

The vessel accelerates rapidly then penetrates the spacial barrier, vanishing from the system.

    • Falcanad looked out upon the lush brightness that was Azdgari. He was humble, and quiet. He spoke only when needed. He was lost in the plethora of stars that he traveled among. Falcanad somehow knew there was a long and eventful future waithing on that colourful orb.

Please excuse me, I am in a rush, and school is taking up most of my time. Brilliant tactician? Humble and soft spoken? Seems my character is turning out to be my opposite!

      Signature on hold.

    • As Io walked among the crowd, she pulled her cloak tighter across her face.

She ducked into an alley to take a breath and gather her thoughts... There was a shipyard across the street, but it was guarded..

Suddenly a guard grabbed her from behind and tore her cloak off, revealing her face.. "A slave!" he exclaimed and he brandished his weapon... "You, walk forward." She felt the cold steel of the neutron rifle as she walked forward and tried to quickly formulate a plan...

"Stark, What are you doing?" A voinian yelled at the guard from the gate of the shipyard..

"Nothing. I found a slave, I was going to report her."

"Stark, Stark, Stark, Don't you know there's no way a slave would be brave enough to come here without having official business?"

Stark looked at Io... and back at the guard at the gate...
"I'm still taking her to the port authority, she doesn't have her Identification."

      "Oh, alright. Need help?"

"With an Emalghion Girl? Don't insult me. I have a rifle remember?"

      "Alright, alright. Go on."

Stark continued to lead Io through the gate... Io could feel the stares of voinians burning into her..

Suddenly the port admiral came out of the main building.. He saw Io and Stark, and came over to Io.. "Stark, is that Kinik?"
      "Who?"
"Kinik... One of the pilots sent a message for a (personal... assistant...)... That must be her."
Stark glanced back at Io.. "She doesn't have her Identification..."

The admiral looked at Io.. "Aren't you Kinik? You match the description..."
"Of course, why else would I be here?"

"Stark, let her go. She knows where she's going."
Stark lowered his rifle, and looked back to Io..
      "My apologies to your master."
      Io nodded and walked off.

Suddenly a voinian brushed up against her, nearly knocking her down.. He was obviously drunk. "Aren'sh shou kinik? Shlave gurl?"
Io shuddered... She nodded her head. (How far was she willing to go for her people?)
The drunk voinian grabbed her arm and walked into a nearby building...
"I likesh yoush... " Io had to concentrate on not vomiting when she thought about what was about to be done to her..

The drunk voinian opened a door, and threw her in in front of him, then locked the door behind them both.
He picked up a bottle and took a large swig of voinian vodka, then began stepping towards Io..
"I've alwaysh liked emalghiosh... I likesh them a lot..."
      Io held her breath...
The Voinian pushed her back and stepped towards her.. Suddenly Io reached out.. and grabbed a lamp and slammed it into his head and he took a step back.. A second later he collapsed...
Io stayed on the bed, gathering her thoughts... She looked around frantically...
Suddenly she had an idea. She walked over to the collapsed voinian and felt his pockets... She was in luck.. She found a ship key.
By looking, she couldn't tell what kind of ship.. She walked around the port, glancing at the dock number on the key and the signs at the port..
Suddenly she say a sign that matched... Figures.. A Voinian Frigate... There's no way she can pilot a frigate by herself... She walked aboard anyway..

It was obviously modified... Apparently to make deliveries.
Less weapon space... but more fuel.. more cargo space..
Soon she realized something else... She hadn't seen a voinian since she stepped on, although the crew were eyeing her strangely... Suddenly she noticed another alien.. Hinwar perhaps? She had seen pictures...

She had bigger fish to fry.

She locked the hatch and talked to the Emalghion in the ship...
"Do you like serving this ship's commander?"
A resounding no was the answer...
"We have the chance to leave this planet for a while... Maybe find help, if nothing else find a planet where we don't have to be enslaved.."

Suddenly a whistle escaped from the door.. It was opening... Io ran deeper into the ship. "Sorry sir. You have to keep up with your key better. You know you're not allowed to have servants come here while you're on duty."
"Yea, yea, I know. Get outa my face stark."
"Fine, fine. Just keep up with your key. I won't be able to open it for you next time."

The voinian shrugged Stark off and walked in his ship rubbing his head..

Meanwhile Io ran around the ship, trying to figure it out... She felt the ship moving.. and entering hyperspace. She moved toward the cabin where the voinian would be... There were two emalghions beside him... shey glanced at her and she winked at them nervously..
      They nodded..

She snuck up behind him.. and before he noticed what was happening, he was knocked out again.

Io looked around.. "Everyone knows what needs to be done around here, right?"
An emalghion looked at her.. "yes..."

"Then lets do it. We need to act fast if we want to get out of voinian space..."

    • The city was much more peaceful, with the new colony in Zimla allowing habitation the population had fled, but the planet was by no means deserted. The remnants of the second Shira colony were old, the Miranu had been there for hundreds of years and once all the surrounding territory had been theirs. Then came the dark ages, rejection of cultural values and technology had brought rifts, dividing the relatively stable empire into three segments. The weaponry used was beyond comprehension, no traces of the systems where it was used remained. The dark ages had been an era of eternal light. After several exchanges the system destroying weaponry was outlawed and all sides agreed to dispose of it, and surprisingly enough they did. The weapons had destroyed eight systems and killed thirty-five billion sentient beings. The war continued, more subtly but not less dangerously. The original colony saw its sisters plotting against it and it developed a weapon that annihilated all sentient life within range of the target, the other colonies had no chance against it, entire cities died out, cleanly and painlessly.

    • Asa'nori was investigating a complaint issued by a number of farmers. Aparently a certain local species of insect was literally raiding the food stockpiles and making off with roughly half a pound of grain a day. The bug seemed quite resistant to pestacides and the nests were so numerous and well hidden that the farmers could not possibly torch them all. All but two attempts to capure a specimen failed due to the fact that they could reach velocities of 300kph in under a second. The insect itself was no larger than a terran horsefly yet it could carry three times its own mass. The locals had begun calling it ura azdara or rather lightning thief. How much time could be shaved off developing a new fighter if instead of trial-and-error they studied the superior designs found in nature? Prehaps that fighter wouldn't take so long after all?

Asa'nori looked at Captain Falcanad's Report only to find that a retrofitting the old worn out fighter would be an impossible feat. An entirely new fighter was needed, one that was small and lightweight, but had stability and the volume to fit the neccessary equiptment. He quickly began sending one of the samples to Captain Falcanad and his team to work on a new design. Prehaps a minor pest problem was not so bad after all

    • Jason Wallace had been feeling as if something was wrong. It’s that kind of intuition that most either have, or develop is they want to survive in these changing times. He knew someone was watching him, and had been for the last three days. He kept resisting the urge to look over his shoulder and see who it was. He walked into a bar, trying to see if his tail would follow him. He took a seat, fingering one of the two .30 caliber pistols that had under his coat. Now something really made the hair on the back of his neck stand on end. He dropped the credit chip he’d been fidgeting with on the ground. Just as he leaned over he heard a WHOOSH as a bullet creased his coat right where his head would’ve been a second ago. He leapt forward and did a somersault righting himself a safe distance from the window where the shot came from. As he turned around, he saw a man behind him pulling out one very unfriendly looking automatic shotgun. He drew his pistols as fast as was possible and started firing. His first six shots missed, but the next four hit him. The man jerked backwards and fell to the ground. Wallace walked over, and was interested to see this man wearing the most unusual looking armor he’d ever seen. He realized all his shots had connected, but only his last four looked like they had. He leaned over and saw the two shots that had killed him had found a weak spot in his armor. “It’s hard to stop depleted uranium rounds,” he muttered. He was glad to see his usually excellent marksmanship hadn’t regressed as he had thought. He turned around to see two policemen walking over.

      “You! What’s your name?”

      “Jason Wallace. Why?”

      You’re under arrest!”

      “What for?”

“Are you daft man? You killed a man right there!”

“He was trying to kill me!” Wallace protested.

“We’ll let the court decide that,” the tall one replied.

      “That could take months!”

“Not our problem. Put your hands behind your back. Now!”

As they cuffed him, Jason was incredulous at how this could happen. Yet his attention was mainly on the figure towards the back that had remained motionless right up until the point he had said his name. When that had happened, he spun around and stared right at Jason. Now he was leaving out the back. Jason couldn’t help but wonder what the hell was going on?

A figure ducked out of the back of a bar and opened up his communicator. After a couple moments the other party appeared on his screen, to whom he said, “Sir we’ve found our man ”

The man glanced over the ruins of the world with pity and reverence. The cityscape beneath him had once been home to millions, sixty years later their cities were still intact, overgrown, dirty but intact. The colonization would take much less time than the original estimates and the amount of equipment required would be drastically less then expected. The extra equipment would still be beneficial to the cause, it might even provide them with enough supplies to build a shipyard.

As he gazes over the scene with a sense of dread the pilot walks behind him and embraces him. "Hey, big guy. You said you were planning on going back, what else do you need here?"

"A little information on the status of the remaining facilities. Why don't you take a break in the living chamber? I'll be back for the return trip in a few hours."

    • Mirava

The light nearly rolled into the serene city, the atmosphere gave the sky a red tint that created a warm glow throughout the area. The light from didn't begin to compare with the city itself, thousands of skyscapers, apartments, trees, all wound together densely but with a sense of luxurious spaciousness. The capital building was an excellent example, it was composed of two skyscrapers, towering up impossibly high, with vine-like trees twisting around the towers and joining near the top. At the joining point was the office of the Shirat, the monarch. The spherical office reflected light away but the Shirat could see out, the entire city lay beneath and she had only put information into her computer and she could see any quadrant as if she were there.

The envoy from the Ul faction is coming up the hallway.

She doesn't even slow her continuous typing to reply. "Just what I needed, I think I'll try to be polite today. What was his name again?"

      Cemier Velthus

      "Title?"

None, the anarchists consider a title to be promoting of superiority.

"Should I call him by his first or last name, in order to be polite?"

For a formal event the first should be appropriate.

The door opened to admit the small reddish-furred humanoid. He wasn't exceptionally impressive, though he was certainly larger than the Shirat, his stature and grooming implied a great pride. Not surprising for one born into great wealth. "Greetings Shirat, I'm glad you allowed me to enter without any forewarning."

"I'm glad you kept formality to a minimum Velthus." The Shirat never slows her typing, though she does look up and smile kindly in greeting. "Do you want to chat for a while or would you rather finish your business quickly."

Velthus seems somewhat taken aback by the informal greeting, and the difference in manner since his last visit, but he doesn't hesitate long. "Your polite greeting is surprising and if the company was this pleasant the entire time I'd be honored to stay, but unfortunately the Puero will be leaving in a matter of a few hours and I only have time to deal with the business at hand." He brushes his arms quickly to smooth the light fur. "I was wondering why we are being provided with so few pilots. You were willing to give us three Puero permanently with a relatively large discount, but you only provided one pilot. Why?"

"I didn't even provide the pilot, she volunteered for the permanent stationing. I'm not going to force anyone to make a journey they don't want to, and I gave all pilots the opportunity and only one volunteered."

"If I may Shirat, I would also like to request permission to get access to the designs for the Tir class vessel, and maybe even the Mir. We will be in space that hasn't been explored for many years, and we will be building vessels as soon as possible."

"You must have found how generous a gift the system I gave to you was. It wasn't entirely altruistic, many pilots view the system as a graveyard, and tell stories of phantom vessels. I don't believe it, but I decided it best to send people who wouldn't be frightened by rumors to colonize." Velthus listens with interest and is about to dismiss himself before he realized that the monarch hadn't responded to his question. At the look in his eyes she nods and makes a dramatic motion on her keyboard. "There friend, you have the designs for all our vessels and tools. I pray that we can continue to coexist in peace as I do not want to have given away things to destroy my people."

"Shirat, your kindness is unbelievable. If I had been in your place I would have not allowed a shipyard or any other material. Perhaps not the colony itself, but I swear to you, upon Bir and my life, that I will not allow our people to go to war. We may have differing views but we will remain allies." He brings up his hand toward the monarch then begins to lower it feeling his gesture inappropriate. She again surprises him by bringing her face to his hand and touching her nose thrice, in the symbol of Bir.

"You are not loyal to me or my world, but your strength and belief give me honor for our race. May we live in peace, perhaps one day reunited under the perfect situation."

"One day perhaps, but now I must leave. I thank you for your help. You have given us more than we even expected, or even desired. Farewell."

After the anarchist leaves the monarch looks back at her rotating computer and concentrates harder on her typing.
