Hi, i was wondering if there was a walkthrough for EVO, i just got the EVO TC for (windows) Nova. and was wondering how to start a storyline, or mission thread (UE shipping doesn't count)
I alredy captured a nice Turncoat, and it is all decked-out with weapons, but i still have no idea where to start a storyline.

you got a turncoat, cool! It seems like everybody hates that thing. (Its my personal favorite)
first of all get a high combat rating by whoping up on other turncoats and voinian ships cuz they got the biggest crews. then your'e ready to start.
go through voinian space and up somewhere in the north west part of voinian space (If you haven't found them already) you will find the emalgha. land on emalgion and go to the bar for the first mission in one main string.
if you start the UE shipping string, you will eventually be asked to res-Q the crew of a scout ship. that starts the UE string which gives you access to UE ships.
If you have a large combat rating but not deadly, demand tribute from lothe prime. then bribe them to let you land and go to the bar for the human renegade missions. (warning-If you do the Renegade string you blow your chances of getting the UE string because the UE will be mad at you.)
If you have a high combat rating you may eventually be asked by a voinian in the Pax bar to do a mission that starts the Voinian string.
Please note that unlike Nova, only the Mission string that starts on emalgion is a main string. the rest of them are optional.
there are two other main mission strings, but I've forgotten how to get them. 
for more specific information try shayborg's site, although it doesn't Include the other two main mission strings either.

EDIT-actually there are four other mission strings. but you can only do two of them. the explore Ji nebula string is single. but there is a string for each of the three strands. you have to choose which to do.

thanks, my rating is already deadly, and i have proceeded to begin sapping the defence fleets of some vionian planets. how do i get to emalgha? and can I start that sting even after i start the UE string? (keep in mind that i am using the EVO TC port for windows Nova.

you can start it after, or during the UE string. just keep in mind that the string you start with the emalgha will move to the hinwar, and later the UE. to find emalgha go to the Avan system, take the jump point up and to the left. look for the romit system. when you find it take the jump line streight up. that will lead you to the emalgha. don't buy their ships though. they're crap.
as far as I know the Nova TC of override is the same as override itself. of course, i might be wrong since I've never played it.

different gaming engine, but that's about it. okay i seem to be in the string, and i just launched a dual offensive against the vionians, and suddenly i am a Felon in all of the emalgha systems, why is that? and how do i continue the string?

yikes! I never had that happen. Did you by accident destroy an Emalgha ship?
If you didn't It might be a bug the the Plugin. if you have already saved your pilot try killing voinians in the emalgion system to raise your status.
If I remember right It doesn't matter whether or not you have a bad status with the emalgha, you will get their missions anyway. I got the first mission in the Emalgha string after having done the voinian string.

It seems the Turncoat you captured is an upgraded version. there are three types of turncoats, the standard, the upgraded (which you have) and the Nadir.
the nova port of Override must be different than original EVO because I never see upgraded turncoats anywhere exept the Renegade string where you have to destroy one.

umm, is the nadir better, or is this one? well, i don't know if it is a EVN port thing or not, but ialso managed to come across aand capture a Igazra (sp?) that was evedentially upgraded as well, it's beam weapon however dissapeared as soon as i landed and took off again, so i wound up using my Gateway Goback system to recover my old file because IMO it wasn't all that great without that weapon. so, apperently it is either a bug with the port, or a clash between the port and the Cold Fusion plugin, (which i doubt)
as far as continuing the emalgha string, i really can't if i can't even bribe the planets to land there.

Quite so. If you want it you have to cheat or abort the mission as soon as the nadir appears and capture it. It doesn't have any fuel so Its pretty useless.
your problem may be a cold fusion compatability problem. I'm not sure. you can try using that back in time thing to back up. or like I said, kill voinians to raise your status.
the Igazra is seen quite often in strand space, and sometimes in miranu. but I don't remember it having a beam. only the Zidara had beams.

well i found my problem, the Switch Con that i was using to swap in and out the proper rescources fot the TC, had for some reason failed to load the proper plugin folder (it had the EVN plugin folder loaded) i tried changing it back, but it messed up my pilot, so i changed it back to the EVN plugins, sold all of my outfits, and changed it back again to the EVO plugins, it worked, but now i have to buy everything all over again. well it is working now, (but i refuse to give up that turncoat)

Okay, I have recently started playing Overide again, as well, and I am a bit rusty. I have started the Emalga(sp?) string, and have gotten to the point where I bring a UE ambassador to their home, and have done so, but now I dont remember where I am supposed to go to continue the string.
Also how can I start/continue the string in which you get the UE power ships. I have rescued the Vonian defector, and now I am roving the galaxy, looking for a carrier to call my own.

as to your first question, rack up a large combat rating and land on the military moon of emalgia. the mission is in the bar.
for the second you also need a good combat rating. nearly deadly. The mission is to destroy the voinian dreadnaught and its in the Earth bar.

lets see, my combat rating is ultimate, I did the emalgha string, and I have started the hinwar string, but I still cant get the damn next UE mission. I did the UE fighter mission, and then did that thing where I go to the abandon station (pareen?) because they are going to use the vonian tech to get it up and running, now what?!? Ive been to Earth like a hundred times.

It may be that you can't finnesh the string if you are in the middle of anathor string. umfortunently I'm not positive about that. I'll have to look at the data files.

The standard port of Override doesn't upgrade the graphics at all. Cold Fusion was ported to the port and since Captain Skyblade used thousands of colours for CF (instead of optimizing size by making the sprites 256) the port gets nice angled sprites and thousands of colours but still no engine flares and all the cool other NOVA features.
In my opinion that is not enough. Which is why I have decided to provide a full graphical upgrade for the override port. All the ships are being remodeled from scratch as are the stations. I've not quite made it as far s the Turncoat - I'm still not finished the shuttle yet (although the Freight courier is almost finished 
). I've almost finished all the planet graphics (in flight) - only got a few more of them to do. Progress is coming along well, but has slowed considerably since I've started my new job (50 hours a week :eek: ). I'll mail you an image of the turncoat in flight once I get it done 
For now, here is a preview of the freight courier sprite. Its not quite complete but its getting there!

question: i just finished delivering instructions to a race enslaved by the vionians to start a rebellion. now it says i need to find an army or whatever to take over a station, where do i go? i have tried all the government and military sites i can think of and still nothing. also, can the mission to kill the vionian dreadnaught be aborted or not? (i am not there yet, but if it can i have a really cool idea)

Outpost gamma bar. Outpost gamma is one jump down from the eltor system.
If you think you can capture the Dreadnaught forget it. It has a crew of nearly two thousand. not only that, the UE will hate your guts forever it you abort the mission. not to mention everybody will attack you exept the voinians because Its Inherent government is voinian.
on the other hand, you can make a copy of your pilot and give it a go. and even though its crew is so big it is still capturable on the lucky once in a lifetime chance.
I once captured it in an azdare (crew of one) on the first try!

It moves slower than molases. But it can take on whole fleets. I don't think that using it as an escort removes its government, but people will attack it instead of you. once again, the nova engine might change this.
