    • Now what??

I was doing the UE-Emalgha strike against the Voinians missions for the third or fourth time, and after the mission where the Emalgha and I attack Ekiup Station in the Romit System, the leader says to meet him in the bar for further missions. At that point I had to get off the computer, and I figured I would just go to the bar for the next mission the next time I played. The only problem was, according to the game, the Romit system still belongs to the Voinians, and they won't let me land, even though the station has been taken by Emalgha forces. I can't bribe them, either. The only thing I can think of would be to demand tribute, and then land once the station is dominated. I forget, however, if the station will still be Voinian when I leave. If it is will be Emalgha when I take off, even if I release it from servitude, it would still be mad at me, which I would have to fix be blowing up countless Voinian ships in order to continue the string later on. My only problem with this solution, is that my ship is an Azdara with dospoct armor and the experimental generator. Even though to Voinians can't really hurt me, it takes a long time to blow up even a frigate with my swivel phase cannons and I don't want to replace my cannons.

      Anyone have a better solution?

The same thing happened to my brother. It's an easy thing to fix, with a bit of Res-Edit knowledge. You've got a variety of options, from switching the Voinians to take bribes, kill the mincoolness for the station, create a mission to said station, etc. Beyond that, I don't think there is a non-editing solution, beyond capturing the station, which I would imagine to be pretty damn tough.

I think that you don't see many love stories in EV simply because the engine isn't quite geared towards that. What are you going to do, keep meeting your significant other in a bar (or, with Nova, the Outfitter, Shipyard, or Trade Center) and have questions like "Will you go out on a date with me?" | Yes/No | "Great, pick me up on <DST> in a month and we'll have dinner."?

Oh, the same thing happened for your brother? I never suffered of it. I could imagine it too to be VERY tough, it is one of the most important stations.

Yes, but if it is dominated, you will always get to land on it regardless because it is in your control and besides, if you release it, only the Voinian government will be mad, not the Emalgha. Infact, it is possible you may have end up earning more brownie points with the Emalgha because you have had to have destroyed many Voinian ships in the defense fleet. Now this is all assuming that you say that the station is still under Voinian control.

      Like I am.....

So I guess it's demand tribute, huh? Like I said before, my ship is practically invincible, but that will take a looooong time.

    • Does anybody know how many ships are in the Ekiup Station defense fleet?

It may or may not. You have undestood DefCount incorrectly. Here is a explanation right from the EVO Bible: DefCount The number of ships in the defense fleet. If you set this number to be above 1000, ships will be launched from the planet or station in waves. The last number in this field is the number of ships in each wave, and the first 3-4 numbers (minus 1 from the first digit) are the total number of ships in the planet's fleet. For example, a value of 1082 would be four waves of two ships for a total of eight. A value of 2005 would create waves of five ships each, with 100 ships total in the planet's defense fleet. That means you get to fight 7 ships at a time, and 60 ships in total. The DefenceDude used is Voinian Warships, which has 40% chance of Frigates appearing and 10% chance of Cruisers appering. The ID is 132. If you change this to something weak like ID 130, you get UE Traders and you have to fight only Shuttles, Freighters and Cargo Transporters. A blatant cheat, but atleast its easy. Or if you want to skip all this, get a superweapon cheat plug.

Was that supposed to be an example or is that really Ekiup's defense?

If kauthor's number of 1604 is Ekiup Station's DefenseCount, then it has 15 waves of 4 ships for a total of 60.

    • I understand the theory, Blackdog, I just don't know how to change the number like Cade suggested.

Open ResEdit, open the EVO Data File 2, find the spob resources, find the target planet, open it (be sure you get the templates), find the defcount field and change it to "-1."

    • How do you get to ResEdit? It isn't a file on my computer.

:redface:I'm clueless about this editing stuff, I've never had a reason to do it.
