      What's new?

Anyone come up with any good new plugs that completely replace the EV/EV:O/EV:Nova universes and misn's?

Any of the old EV or EV:O gang still active and around?

Some of us are here. A lot of the oldies like alien 5672 and lonevoinion have vanished though.

The Polycon TC is out for Nova. It replaces everything. It's a huge download, but you can get it from the Nova Addons Page: (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/games/evn/addons.html")http://www.AmbrosiaS...evn/addons.html(/url)

I'll inform Alien that you're missing him -- he should be around tomorrow.

Couldn't be the same Jim from Blazer's boards. Can it? If so..WHAT UP JIMMY... šŸ˜„ Didn't think I'd see you again.. I'm still here.. mostly because for some reason unbeknowst to me, people still play my plug-ins.

That, and a possible EVN project. But I need to get back on AIM and find out if the other person is still interested in it. If he is, it would be, in a word, ~undescribable~.. assuming that is a word...

Yup, bombcat, it is I. Just thought I'd come by and see if any great new plugs had been released in the past year or so. Glad to hear you're still active with plug making. I'm trying to talk Martin Turner into making Flight of the Eagles for EV:N, but he's pretty busy these days and doesn't like to do anything half-arsed.

Can't wait to find out what you'd term "indescribable."

Thanks for the replies everyone, but I don't really know Alien 5672 or lonevoinian (unless I knew then under different aliases -- they must have come after I'd left these boards. I left shortly after these webboards started -- I'd been more active on the previous discboards and then on Blazer's alternate board until it died.

But goddamn, Blackdog, how did you know about my other boardname? I only made one post with it...

Oh, be nice. I've only used three or four. And the odd other one. The scary thing is, I never meant this'n to be my final one - I hate it. SilverDragon? What on earth was I thinking...?

Best drop the Dragoon one, anyway. There's another "Dragoon" now. I'm still Esponer pretty much everywhere else.

Haha...I remember reading up on some of those old webstories while I was waiting for others to post in EoD...man Esponer---you went through like 3 names in 3 posts šŸ˜„

And I remember one of them was Sylver.

Hint: I've almost completely stopped going on AIM, and was ignoring RMA some time before that.

On the plus side of things, I'm friends with 'Char, and may well have pulled somebody else...

And you notice how quickly this topic detiorates from something somewhat productive, to other people talking about themselves.. "Welcome to Jim's Bar." šŸ™‚

Yeah. Indescribable it would be. And it looks like it just might actually go down. Which would totally rock the EVN world. Hells yeah.

The scariest thing about my inability to write the correct word is that I'm a second year English Major.. Maybe by senior year we'll get around to spelling.

--re: Jim's Bar... what else is new. This is a message board after all with the same types of people on all boards everywhere.... have you ever seen the Flame Warriors site that has caricatures of all of the familiar message board types? You should check it out if you haven't already seen it: (url="http://"http://www.winternet.com/~mikelr/flame1.html")http://www.winternet...elr/flame1.html(/url)

--Remember the old saw that plumber's drains are always clogged? That's the way it is for writers when it comes to spelling and grammar when writers write for fun (I guess that's what you'd call writing messages for web boards šŸ˜‰

As for me, I have been earning a living writing for over 20 years, but never took an English or writing class in college -- I hated writing back then and was able to avoid all such classes by scoring really high on achievement tests. Ten years writing for a newspaper taught me not to fear writing. The bad news is that even though I'm no longer writing for newspapers, I still can't write a word unless/until I have a deadline looming, and then it just comes gushing out (requiring lots and lots of editing and rewrites šŸ˜‰ It bugs my boss because he never sees me writing -- but the work always gets done on time. He jokes about me subcontracting out, or having writing elves that come in late at night. I keep telling him I can't write at the office because of distractions, so I get almost all of my work done at night at home, or on weekends, and then appear to goof off at work all week.

--I'd be very interested to hear some details if/when you can share them concerning your EVN project (you can e-mail me at the same old address if you want to keep it off the boards).

I never knew exactly what you do. Is it creative work, or technical writing? You said you once worked at a newspaper, so is it journalistic in style? I'm curious.

I'd like to sign you up for testing on my EVN scenario, if possible. It's gonna be a ways down the line (we're in development right now) but if it gets done the way I hope it will, well, I'll be ready to take my plug-in domination from EVO to EVN. šŸ˜‰ The only thing I can really say right now is that I've got, hands down, the best graphics artist I know willing to work on it. Which is ~indescribable~.

P.S- I know what you mean about not being able to write in certain places. Dorm room- worst place for writing. Library with hot chicks around? A bit better. Solitude, on some isolated spot on campus? Best. I'm doing two hours a day of writing every day now. Now if only I could keep that up for say, the next 60 or 70 years or so.. šŸ™‚

Yeah, I published (and was editor, reporter, photographer, janitor, etc.) a country weekly in rural SW TN for 10 years before I got sick of living there and moved to San Diego. Prior to that, I'd been an editor, reporter/photog for various small dailies around the midwest. But I found that newspaper work does not pay well out here unless you work for a very large operation and are in management. So I began working for myself as a "will write/edit/publish anything for a buck." The majority of the work I get is in high tech, and yes, the majority of my income is now from technical writing -- the least creative and most boring writing I've ever done, but man does it pay well out here.

You know me. I can't turn down working with plug makers who actually deliver the goods. So let me know what/when I can help. What is your time frame at the moment (guesstimate on when you'd need my help)?

      Later,
      Jim

Well, I suppose getting paid to do any kind of writing is better than doing it without being paid.. šŸ™‚

Rough time frame is to have the monstrosity in testing sometime this Fall. Maybe late summer, depending on how much coding I get done in June and July.
