OOC: Allow me to clarify what happened. The "cheating" bit was knowing that the Miranu and Zidagar had formed an alliance - if you think about it, there's no way that your character could have known. You have to be very careful not to use what is called "OOC knowledge" (out-of-character knowledge.)

      Using OOC knowledge is:

      • If someone tells you of their plans by email, AIM or some other means outside the story, then having your character in the story know this or respond to this is using OOC knowledge.
      • If you use information gleaned from "OOC:" sections in posts, then it's using OOC knowledge. There are exceptions. For example, if I said in "OOC:" (like I'm writing now) that; "your character likely knows the shield frequency of my station", that would be reasonable. But if I said "the shield frequency of my station is 4506.2395.9912, then knowing that would be using OOC knowledge.
      • The most important bit. When people write their in-character posts, you need to bear in mind what your government knows, and what you don't know. For example, if you get attacked, you obviously know that you're getting attacked, and you also know what ships the enemy is attacking you with. But you don't know which of their ships has their main character on, even if they said so in their post, and you don't know their long-term plans..

    • OOC: I'm going to cancel the Azdgari research of Shield Masking tech since Esponer wants to carry that over to the Conclave, besides, it was his idea in the first place. 🙂 Lets just act like I never mentioned it.

The Grand Council Chamber buzzed in barely suppressed whispers as Moran Kalhek, Regent of the Azdgari Empire, tried to hold back his annoyance. At the moment a Junior Naval Lieutenant was trying in vain to give his presentation without shouting, but only succeeding in not being heard. The Council members didn't even notice, being that they were all completely absorbed in their own petty conversations. Something must be done about these Council Members... Moran thought to himself it's no wonder the War is going the way it is. As the young Lieutenant hilighted another system and began to explain the various fleet deployments there Moran glanced down at his personal data display. At least I can still read the fleet deployments he thought with a wry grin.

      Azdgari Imperial Fleet Deployment

      Azdgari System
      20 Azdgari Warships
      35 Azdgari Aradas

      Apert System
      10 Azdgari Warships
      35 Azdgari Aradas
      50 Azdaras

      Diudir System
      15 Azdgari Warships
      25 Azdgari Aradas
      50 Azdaras

      Chak System
      20 Azdgari Warships
      35Azdgari Aradas
      50 Azdaras

      Molar System
      20 Azdgari Warships
      65 Azdgari Aradas
      50 Azdaras

      Muid System
      15 Azdgari Warships
      75 Azdgari Aradas
      25 Azdaras

After the Lieutenant had finished outlining all of this he turned to the assembled Council, "Now, mind you, this is only the current fleet deployment... our next round of offensives will probably change most of this." Of course, almost nobody heard him besides Moran...

      Mordus System: 0600 Hours

The aging Miranu Heavy Freighter listed slightly as it struggled towards it's docking berth at Station Realion. It was venting atmosphere from it's cargo hold, and spewing radiation from it's engine compartment, making the surrounding space a swirling hell of sensor interference.

"Station Realion, this is the independent trader Lucky Haul _we were attacked by Renegades out of Neslaut and need immediate repair."

Roger that_ Lucky Haul _you are cleared to dock at berth A17

As the sticken freighter passed by the first docking pylon another message came out on the emergency channel. "Oh no! We're losing hull integrity... we're going to have to abandon ship!" With that the huge cargo compartment broke away from the main superstructure and began to break apart... the rest of the ship started spewing escape pods as it pulled away from the cargo compartment. Strangely the pods didn't accelerate out to space... the began moving quickly towards several docked Igadzra military vessels! At the same time the supposedly stricken freighter, unhindered by it's cargo pod accelerated as fast as it could towards a docked Igazra and smashed into it at full speed, wreathing it in flames and death. While the explosive laden escape pods destroyed several Aradas and another Igazra, two squadrons of Azdaras exploded from the abandoned cargo compartment.

With only a few minutes before the systems outer defensive ships were able to make it back towards the station, the Azdaras went on a rampage, destroying any Igadzra ships that tried to launch and killing whatever others were still docked. More than 25% of the systems defenders had been destroyed by the Azdgari raiders... and as the rest of the ships began to come close to the station another problem presented it's self to the defenders of Station Raelion, the rest of the Azdgari Fleet had arrived. 10 Azdgari Warships, 35 Azdgari Aradas, and the other 26 Azdaras out of the Apert System jumped in and began launching fighters. Now the Igadzra were not only scattered, disorganized, and confused, they were outnumbered.

      Azdgari Fleet Status
10 Azdgari Warships + 60 Carried Azdaras now launching
      35 Azdgari Aradas
      50 Azdaras
      Remaining ships at 100% ammunition.

      Igadzra Fleet Status
      3 Igazras Destroyed
      8 Igadzra Aradas Destroyed
      Remaining ships at 100% ammunition

    • Saga of the Guild : Chapter 5

      Mira

“This session of the Miranu High Council is now in session,” declared Trademaster Corzun Dah. “Councilor Somm has returned from his mission to Zidagar. Would you explain your experience to the Council?”

“Gladly. As the esteemed High Council knows by now, we have been pursuing a strategy if rapid negotiation, having contacted the Zidagar for a military alliance against the North Tip renegades. As you are also aware, the Human empire known as United Earth has opened ties with us to secure a trade treaty.

“We must decide what to offer our newfound allies,” stated Lelos Somm flatly.

“I open the floor to debate over the terms of a treaty with United Earth,” said Trademaster Corzun Dah.

Organized chaos ensued; every councilor was jockeying to endorse the sections of the treaty their Directorates stood to gain the most from. The Leitoni High Councilor, (insert name), shouted vehemently for unrestricted trade; the Directorate of Leiton was the largest exporter of luxury goods in the Star League. High Councilor Neve Ashak of Himgro bellowed for a joint medical research program with the UE; he was overruled by the trademaster, who called now for a vote.

“The High Council will now vote on the approval of a trade agreement entailing open commerce along the UE and Miranu borders. All for submitting this treaty to the United Earth commander?”

      Eleven green lights flickered on.

“All against?” Two red lights flickered on. One abstention was recorded: Neve Ashak.

“The measure passes. Councilor Neve Ashak, you are hereby authorized to negotiate with the UE. If any useful technology is discussed, I authorize you to trade technology if it is in the interest of the Star League. You may invite the UE representative in to negotiate with us upon the conclusion of this session,” added Trademaster Dah. High Councilor Ashak bowed his head in acknowledgement. The trademaster accepted the councilor’s signal and proceeded with the meeting.

“Agenda item seven: the Zidagar commander is here on Mira to negotiate weapons research in exchange for his aid in neutralizing the North Tip. High Councilor Lelos Somm, the floor is yours.”

“Thank you Trademaster,” spoke Somm smoothly. “Commander Myrx informed me while my person was on Zidagar that they have experienced a chance development in weapons advancement. The Zidagar commander explained it is a high yield explosive. Perhaps we of Station Pybin could mount this Zidagar weapon on the pursuit missile chassis to usher in a new element for the defense of the Star League.”

“Would it be possible to mount this weapon on our new Miranu Carriers?” asked Councilor Marig of Zeldair.

“If the Zidagar give us the explosives technology, it would simply be a matter of a few stylus strokes to incorporate it into the Carriers. For now, however, we will focus on combining our research efforts with those of the Zidagar to expedite the development of the weapon,” assured Councilor Somm. “Besides, the Carriers already have pursuit missile launcher hard points across their hulls.”

      Councilor Marig smiled.

“And if our Zidagar comrades would prefer us to enhance their phased beam weapons, then we could offer our scientific services in trade for this weapon anyways,” Trademaster Dah pointed out. “High Councilor Somm, as you already know the Commander, you are to negotiate with the Zidagar on behalf of the Miranu people and the Star League.”

“Thank you Trademaster. I will not fail you.”

“I have no doubts. Now, let us welcome the UE High Commander General."

There stood Beeblebrox in the full uniform of a UE Admiral of the Fleet. Neve Ashak wore the flowing red robes of a Miranu High Councilor. Beeblebrox offered Ashak his hand; the Miranu took it uncertainly, unaware of this Human greeting until that moment.

“Let’s get down to business, shall we?” prompted Beeblebrox. “You have product, we have buyers. Pretty simple. I have no doubt that you have demand for some of your goods as well?”

“What can you sell us? Can you sell us armor? Our enemies, the renegades of the North Tip, do not utilize weaponry with a great impact on armor. If you don’t want the hassle of trading and hauling armor from United Earth space to the Star League, I am authorized to exchange technology. The ball is in your court,” finished Neve Ashak.

Beeblebrox scratched his chin in contemplation. High Councilor Neve Ashak awaited his reply.

      Aboard the Zidagar flagship

“High Councilor Somm, how good it is to see you again,” greeted Zidagar Commander Myrx. “What does your leadership propose?”

“The Miranu High Council is intrigued by the explosive weapon you mentioned to me on Zidagar. The proposal we offer is as follows: we can offer our aid in expediting whatever research you choose to conduct, if in turn you sign a military defensive alliance against the North Tip threat. Also, we would request the technology to build the space explosives. Are these terms satisfactory?” asked High Councilor Somm eagerly.

      He patiently awaited an answer.

      Research: Singularity Warp Shields—(3 Days)

NOTE: If I hear nothing of how research is to be handled, then I will assume that research is ALSO to be governed on a per-day basis. Thus, the Singularity Warp Shields will be fully developed in 3 days—plenty of time for me to be corrected. They will be incorporated into the Miranu Carriers and all future Miranu vessels. At some point, probably tomorrow, I will have an explanation for them up.

    • OOC: You lost no ships, VAI? Tha doesn't seem too likely.
      ----------
      Mindule grunted.
"Looks like we're gonna have to do this the hard way. All ships in Nujja and Norhis, converge on the enemy fleets in Mordus."
      ----------
The Igadzran Captain in Mordus was grim. He was outnumbered by far, and of the ships destroyed, only 2 Igazras and 8 I. Aradas remained. He quickly launched them and began firing tons of SAI modules at the enemy ships. All modules were targetted at the capital warships, and one fell to fire quickly. Another wave of SAIs was sent, and another three warships were criticly damaged, one detonating. Then the fighters came. The Igadzra stayed in a tight formation, and spat phase weapons at the fighters. One I. Arada was destroyed in the attack, but because of the formation, the others were only damaged. The damaged ships fell behind the Igazras to recharge their shields, and the non damaged ships went up front. Three Azdaras and a A. Arada were destroyed in the first attack run. Then, the Igradza made their move. They fired SAI modules at the fighters, who quickly began to move to evade them. As they began to evade, I. Arada's all coverged on one enemy fighter at a time. They moved as fast as possible, trying to stay above or below the enemy fighters, so that if the fighters slowed just a bit, they would be hit by an SAI and then destroyed by the I. Aradas. 5 Azdaras and 3 A. Aradas were destroyed, while only 2 I. Aradas was destroyed, and 1 damaged criticly. The I. Arada's returned to the Igazras to recharge their shields. The immense Igazra's fought off most attack, but unfortunatly, an Igazra was destroyed in the process. It managed to ram into an A. Arada before it was engulfed in fire. Just as the Azdgari thought they had victory, the reinforcements arrived.

      Azdgari:
      8 Azdgari Warships (2 destroyed)
      30 A. Aradas (5 destroyed)
      42 Azdaras (8 destroyed)

      Igadzra:
      15 Igazras (1 destroyed, 12 reinforcements)
      35 I. Aradas (3 destroyed, 30 reinforcements)

All ships will continue to fire SAIs at you.

    • OOC: I didn't take any losses because none of my ships ever engaged any combat ready Igadzra, they were all docked or barely launched. I only have one dispute with your post, and that is the timetable of your reinforcements. Nujja is three jumps away and Norhis is two, yet they arrive together and after what appears to be only a few minutes. If reinforcments are going to arrive they will be several game days too late, my ships will have already killed all of yours and had plenty of time to repair and rearm themselves. I also think that with the ships you said you had that my 110 Azdaras and assorted other ships would have torn you to pieces even in the formation you describe... but that's just my opinion.

Kirk strolled through the hall briskly to the meeting room. He entered the meeting room and told his scientists to sit down. They sit down and Kirk sat down and asked, "Is there any possible new tech that we can take advantage of?"

One scientist named Voa said, "Well, there is talks of Miranu and Zidagar allying up, but I don't think that will be possible. " Kirk said, "Hmmm....Contact Zidagar and ask them if they want to help us stops the renegades in exchange for something."

"Yes," he said, "we can sell you armour. We have an Armaplast that we can sell you. I can sell you it for 200 credits a ship."
"But for this price, I would like to make a deal.
I can see by what I have around me, that you are a technologically advanced race."

Neve Ashak brought his deep violet eyes up to look into Beeblebrox's. An intrguing offer, this armor sale. At 200 credits, a full layer of armor for any ship in the Star League was a deal rarely seen in Miranu space. And an energy weapon of adequate range and firepower? Could he mean the phase cannon? , mused the High Councilor.

"Your terms are acceptable. We have a weapon, known to us as the Phase Cannon, which is an energy weapon of...reasonable power. We could provide you with the blueprints to making it, and if you desire longer range or firepower, we could lend you a specialist to help you develop it. You would however," cautioned Ashak, "have to develop it on your own, as our own budget is soon to be occupied by our own efforts. We would be happy to accept the armor sales agreement. How would you propose we trade for the plating?"

"Do not forget," added Trademaster Dah, "that if you already have energy weapons of your own, that it would be possible for you to work with our specialist in blending it with the Phase Cannon in order to create a truly new and innovative design." The trademaster turned to look at Beeblebrox.

      "What do you think?"

    • South Tip Conclave
      The Razsaegul Flies

“It seems to me,” Mathuin interjected, silencing the Conclave, “that our position is yet far too unsatisfactory for us to be considering such things yet.” It was another meeting of the Conclave - the fourth in the last ten days, in fact, and the third of those called by Varian. Recently, these meetings were beginning to tire Mathuin. He was the governor of the Conclave, by law, but Varian’s prominence was undeniable, at least among the other members, and lately he had been commandeering Mathuin’s position. Technically, Mathuin had the power to veto any proposal put forward, other than the proposal for Mathuin’s forced resignation, but unless he was in any particular rush to have that proposal suggested, he had to accept the will of the Conclave, under the ‘suggestion’ of Varian or otherwise.

“It is always advantageous to plan ahead, Mathuin,” Varian replied coolly. That old bugger gets on my nerves. Mathuin held his palm towards Varian. There was a brief pause, almost as if Varian was weighing up the situation, before he nodded and fell silent.

“This is our situation,” Mathuin announced strongly, rising to his feet and stepping into the centre of ring of seats. “The Conclave’s military power is seriously outmatched. I’ve had reports that only yesterday, two Crescent warships - pirates, not specifically loyal to Histiri Station’s loose hierarchy - entered DSN-4611. Lieutenant Nhada, whose forces were on standby on the system, lost two pilots in the engagement. Two pilots, two vessels, of only several score. We cannot afford to lose ships to an enemy unseen, as we have been doing.”

“Constructing Nachaurrez,” Mathuin continued, “will not immediately strengthen our fleet. We will still lose brave warriors, like we did in DSN-4611 so recently. Granted, we will have more ships at our disposal, but that is besides the point. And what of out vaunted shield mask? It gives us no field advantage other our opponents, merely provides us with a means of attacking by stealth. And do not tell me of your designs for a Crescent fighter-bomber, Taikaenor; I am not interested. Such a project would take time. Time that we do not have.”

“We must consolidate our power, of course. We must strengthen our defences, scourge the renegades out of our own territories, and work on unifying the people of Kayia and Bakoom so that this does not all fall apart on us.” That comment was addressed to what was currently an outer circle of the Conclave, where the Bakamese sat - the chamber would not have supported a single larger circle, so grudgingly the Bakamese had allowed themselves to form a second.

“ However , these pirates that plague us, whether or not they hail to Histiri Station, rely on the station to support their ships. Should the station fall, they will have no reason to come here. They will go someplace else. So what must we do? There is no question, there should be no question. Mavs must fall to the Conclave. If we do not do this, then we will fail. The Conclave will live or die depending on what we choose to do now. Would you allow Taikaenor to continue with his designs? I had no doubt that they would result in our fleet being the premier fleet in this sector, but we do not have the time for this. Soon, but not now.”

Mathuin paused for a moment, to gauge the reaction of the Conclave. He had not said so much since Varian had begun to take unofficial command. Varian himself looked perturbed, his lips tightened slightly. There was no expression on Taikaenor’s face. One of the other prominent members of the Conclave, the shadowy Kayan Kataon, looked bemused. The expressions on the faces of the others varied too wildly to tell what the majority would say.

“What would you suggest?” Taikaenor asked suddenly. His speaking up was almost as much a surprise as Mathuin’s speech.

“We assault Histiri Station. Within ten days, we mount an assault,” Mathuin replied, uncertainty flickering into his mind. Dyunar said that it could be done, but Dyunar was a fleet strategist, and Taikaenor the Conclave’s premier general. If he said it was impossible, then it would not happen, regardless of rank or the vote of the Conclave.

And to Mathuin’s shock, Taikaenor nodded. “I will back this.”

“This is absurd!” Varian exclaimed. “Taikaenor, you are an accomplished military officer. You know that this cannot be done. Besides, from what we have heard from the Tibidatan League, there are renegades to the-”

“I will back this,” Taikaenor repeated.

“The shield mask will be completed within a day or now, all it needs is several alpha and beta tests. Our fleet has been preparing for re-calibration. Give it six days, and every ship in the fleet will have the masked phase shield implemented,” noted one of the other Conclave members, who had taken up upon himself the task of monitoring the progress of the shield mask. “I will back Mathuin’s proposal.”

“Nachaurrez will be operational within ten days. Reinforcements will be en route as soon as is possible,” Taikaenor added.

“I do not understand,” Varian confessed, standing up, “why anyone is willing to support an attack on Histiri Station now. It is not time yet. We may lose, and if we lose there, all will be lost.”

“It is simple, Varian,” Kataon begun. “You of all people should see this. Since two decades after the Strandless came to Kayia, the renegades have plagued us. Billions of people, spread across the South Tip, have suffered at their hands. And here, in Kayia, epitaphs are raised every week, with lists of the dead. This is not a question of logic. This is not a question of technology. This is a question of revenge, and an easy victory would taste foul in our mouths, would be a mockery of all that died. Politics must be laid aside for once. The Kayans have their reputation, and it is not one of peace and prosperity. Perhaps we can lay our reputation aside soon... peace favour them, the Strandless certainly showed us the way... but that reputation remains. We must fight.”

And locked within the cobweb-ridden depths of Varian’s mind, at the baser instincts of his very being, the part of him that made him Kayan, those words awoke within him something he had not known. It was madness, and he knew it, but he also knew that it must be so. And the fates know, a Strandless recognised it before I did.

“The attack will commence in nine days from now,” Dyunar stated, “by which time, the fleet will be refitted with the shield mask, and thus be undetectable by the renegade forces. This will give us little advantage: the renegades will attack us regardless. However, without knowing how damaged our ships are, they will be unable to co-ordinate their counter-attack as efficiently as they might like. We’re also going to have to hope that as many of their forces as possible are in dock.”

“How many vessels are they likely to have on patrol?” asked Nhada, recently returned from patrol on DSN-4611 upon hearing of the plans.”

“They have sixty vessels in total. A long-term analysis by sensors on the South Tip Station suggest that they will have between ten and fifteen of those ships on patrol, with at worst six more independant pirates moving to and from the station. I don’t think you need to know, any pirates we encounter will have to be eliminated also.”

A Kayan with raven-black hair laughed. “Unorganised rabble. And the pirates will likely be worse,” she grinned, winking at Nhada, who joined in. They were both fleet lieutenants, although while Nhada had been on patrol in DSN-4611, Jenra’s squadron had been on standby back on Kayia.

“Indeed,” Dyunar responded, “the pirates won’t be very organised, but I wouldn’t underestimate the renegades too much. I’m sure they’ll be capable of dressing themselves, don’t you think?”

“I wouldn’t count on it,” Jenra jested.

      “Yes... well...” Dyunar coughed.

“What’s the general attack plan, Dyunar?” Nhada asked, glancing at Jenra with a look both disapproving and rather amused.

“Originally, plans were drawn up for a pre-emptive assault on the alien renegade system of Riomor, but continued tactical analysis seems to suggest that wouldn’t be successful. The Obutes Federal Directorate won’t let us move through their system with force, so we’re going to have to move in through DSN-4611. Nhada, Jenra, you are to lead your fighter squadrons to eliminate their standing forces. The Strandless Azemir will lead a wing of Aradas towards the station, and destroy as many vessels in port as possible before they launch. A second wing of Aradas, led by Karatis, will support your squadrons, specifically targetting Laziras and Crescent warships.”

“It could be successful,” Azemir, a tall, veteran Strandless, murmured to himself. “I believe that significant damage could be dealt to enemy vessels in port before they are able to launch.” He looked down upon a datapad, studying the layout of the Histiri Station. “I shall personally attempt to knock out the station’s command dome, where many of the captains will be situated. Without a centralised command, they will fail.”

Nhada nodded quickly. “If you are successful, it will make our work much easier. I intend to organise my forces in triplets of Crescent fighters, one group to an enemy Arada, or two to a Lazira or Crescent warship. There are four fighter pilots in my squadron who are of an elite standard. I believe they would perform better travelling in a hunter-killer group.”

“There are five in my squadron who perform at an elite standard,” Jenra interjected with a smile. “I suggest that the nine form this hunter-killer group of yours. With my pilots, they shall be unstoppable.”

“Now, now...” Dyunar murmured. “Is there anything else that needs to be discussed?”

“Oh yes,” Jenra said. “Nhada and I need to decide who’s taking the vanguard.”

“I think I’ll leave now. Azemir, Karatis?”

“I will remain, Dyunar,” Karatis replied, waving a hand to ‘shoo’ the strategist. “For I believe that I would be better suited to lead the fleet.” He too winked then.

“Kayans tire me so...” Azemir sighed, downing a shot of a massively alcoholic beverage.

      (- Priority: 4 -)

      Leaders of the SRL,

We will be unable to send an emissary to your capital planet, unfortunately, as we have other business that we must attend to. The never-ending onslaught that the renegades provide us with is not easily stopped, and the Obutes Federal Directorate is refusing to let Conclave vessels part through its space.

Thus, communication will have to remain via hyper comm. forwarded to Bakoom and then to Tibidat. Delays may be common; vessels need to carry a message from Bakoom to Akrayhek and back, and this procedure takes four days not including time to respond.

Firstly, we would explain the purpose of the Conclave. Set up fourty six years ago in light of the increasingly predominant renegade influence, the Conclave has sought since its creation to free the South Tip of the renegade threat and, as the situation allows, unify the South Tip under a common nation or alliance. This remains our goal. It should be made clear that the Conclave is not interested in seeking revenge against the Strands. We are not predominantly a Strandless government, far from it, and what is more, the Strandless who do live on Kayia and Bakoom are, for the most part, first generation Strandless. They are not exiles from the Strands, like so many are, but rather self-imposed outcasts upon the strand of the Strand War, or even those who refused to unify with the Strand governments in the first place. The Conclave has no quarrel with the Strands; none of them. We would rather not become involved in the whirlpool that is the Strand War, although at a later date we may attempt to end it by non-forceful means.

It should also be made clear that we are not fools. We will not become anyone's slave, and we will not exchange military technology before we are convinced of the integrity and purpose of the other party. We mean no insult to the Strandless Redemption League, but we cannot yet be convinced of your good intent.

      Regards.

Meanwhile, a number of other communications were sent to various governments. While the Obutes Federal Directorate were not contacted, in regards to their hostility, messages were sent to the governments of Feviry and Hrinix regarding the Conclave and its purposes to unite the South Tip.

An extensive cyber conference between Feviry quickly ensued, and data was given regarding the "Miranu", of which the Conclave had heard very little, and did not previously have the co-ordinates of their homeworld.

      Trademaster Corzun Dah,

We send regards from the South Tip Conclave. Our government is a democratic and eudemonic in a similar way to your own, and we strive to free our people from the renegades which terrorise the South Tip. This territory had no equivalent to your Zachit. We say had, as we intend to change that. The Conclave is unsure as to how to proceed. We would have you know that we wish to learn more of your people, but we are unable to arrange for an emissary, as currently renegades block our path, and long-range scouts have revealed that we would not be able to reach your space without passing through Igadzra space to the north. It is also our wish to write up a peace treaty with your government, and perhaps when a more direct link is possible, a trade pact.

Enclosed within this communication is our most recent spacial map. Sensors on our two planets are able to disclose detailed data of the Mavs and Unobot systems, you will notice. We will be attacking Mavs, a renegade system, shortly, while something must also be done at a later date about the Obutes Federal Directorate present in Unobot, who rule by tyranny and oppression. If in any way you can provide aid in our attack on Mavs (we realise that we are asking much of you in this), we would appreciate it greatly. Many Kayans and Strandless will die.

    • The Renegade Fleet, Dark Hour, led by captain Needle Edwards flashed into Sol quickly targeting and destroying small nearby ships. On Needle's ship, Elusive , Needle gased over the battle plans. The main target was to cause chaos by trying to do as much damage as posible to every ship in the system; an ordinary hit and run raid. But then Needle realized something, the fuel tanks were empty and without fuel scoops they would all perish. "I should have seen this coming,"though Needle,"Zurg had this planned out from the beginning, do damage to United Earth and rid himself of me. I should have realized his treachery, he wasafraid of me since the day I became a powerful Fleet Captain. Well, now my end has come but I have sworn to bring about the destruction of UE. I will not surrender and live as a coward but die fighting." Very soon the Renegade attackers had spread across the system creating chaos.

      -Point C
Zurg landed his ship, Dragon Claw , in a hidden docking area used mostly by smugglers to sneak their goods past security. He climded out of his ship and crossed the landing area to a shadowed doorway a woman in a black hooded cloak stepped out. "Here are the data cards, it took alot of work to get them for you,"she wispered. Zurg responded," Thenk you this will be of great benefit to my cause. Now for your payment, here are 10,000 credits." The woman took the money and stashed it in her cloak as she turned and walked away. Silently Zurg slipped a small blase pistol out of his flight jacket. He aimed and the back of the cloaked figure and with a quiet snap sound the gun fired and dropped the woman in her tracks. Zurg quickly ran over and took the 10,000 credits back then dashed to his ship. The Dragon Claw lifted off and sped up to escape velocity.

    • Saga of the Guild: Chapter 7

      Station Pybin

The science capital of the Miranu works under a different administration form than does the rest of the Star League. A strict caste system was enforced to ensure maximum efficiency, and to assure setbacks due to vengeance or jealous anger never happened. The three castes of Station Pybin were the Scientists, the Engineers, and the Pilots. The Scientists held the highest fame, as the galaxy knew of their exploits every day. Therefore, the Scientists also gained wide respect from their fellow researchers on the station. The Engineer caste, while not widely known, was highly respected as the hardiest and most patient of the castes. The Engineers constantly test the designs of the Scientists, and once they approve them, the Pilots work on them. The Pilots are all the testers of the Miranu Star League's latest technology, whether it be sensors, weapons, agriculture, transport, or starships. The Scientists design a prototype, the Engineers modify it to be safe and feasible, and the Pilots test it to the extreme limits. The Station Pybin high councilor was given the title of Researcher, the highest position in the Miranu science community. This system had served the Miranu well for millenia, and no one saw any reason to change it.

"Kalath e dro zwora," greeted Engineer Aenig upon catching sight of Scientist Loeugith in the Miranu tongue. "Do you have the plans ready yet?"

Loeugith nodded his head. He signalled with his hand for the Engineer to follow him. Aenig was most excited. At last, he thought, we will have something to tell our grandchildren about.

They entered into a vast room covered with screens and monitoring devices. Energy diagrams pulsed across one monitor while at the same time supercomputers were calculating mass readings, usages, and success probabilities of the prototypes Somm had tasked Loeugith to design. So far the Scientist had been most successful. The Ra -class gunship had already been approved by the Engineer caste, and was on its way to being sent for final approval to the Miranu High Council. Once that occurred, the Pilots would test it extensively, as they would soon be doing with the Sokar Carriers. Both Engineer Aenig and Scientist Loeugith were quite pleased.

"Did you manage to satisfy the weapons requirements my friend?" asked the Scientist as he maneuvered to bring up the main Science database on the viewscreen directly in front of Aenig.

      "Jarrukh." Yes.

"Excellent. In that case, send the plans to Researcher Somm. I have no doubt that he is eager to start implementing his idea."

      "It will be done."

      ============

      Mira

"This session of the Miranu High Council will come to order." The quiet voice of Trademaster Corzun Dah broke like a thunderclap in the room. The Miranu present were focusing on maintaining the highest levels of efficiency. "High Councilor Somm, you expressed an interest in presenting new information to the High Council?"

"Jarrukh, Trademaster," replied Researcher Somm. The High Councilor asked his fellow councilors to activate their holographic displays. "As I have notified you before, we designed a new ship recently, the Sokar -class Carrier. Now, we at Station Pybin have drafted the plans for another vessel. I give you the Ra -class Miranu Gunship." All fourteen displays presented the spinning three-dimensional image of the starship. "As you can see, it is a capable vessel, and our Pilots are eager to test its capabilities to their extremes. So, the people of Priat implore the High Council to approve the plans for this ship, and to handle the allocation of resources to construct it in a timely manner."

"Motion to approve the Priati proposal." Thirteen green lights flickered on. One blue light of abstention joined them moments later.

"The measure passes. High Councilor Somm, your Directorate is authorized to begin the allocation of proper resources for the construction of these vessels. Keep the High Council updated in a timely manner," added Trademaster Dah.

"Thank you Trademaster," said Lelos Somm. "Excuse this Researcher, but I must attend to the logistics of this measure." With that, the session of the Miranu High Council ended.

Research: Singularity Warp Shielding* (2 days)

      *SWS explanation:
Singularity Warp Shielding: It involves the ship diverting power to drag objects towards it, creating a dense mass region similar to a very small black hole. Enemy fire with mass, such as missiles, will be sucked into the singularity and not harm the ship. However, the singularity will collapse after 3 projectiles are absorbed. The ship is still vulnerable to energy weapons, but the standard shields are still there for that. Each ship equipped with SWS can only make 2 singularities per real time day, and after the second one, its normal shields give out due to the energy drain. The normal shields recharge fully after one real time day. Creating one singularity, though, is totally safe, and has no repercussions on the integrity of the ship.

I have some complaints about this post. First off, is this whole bit about capturing ships allowed for in the rules? I never remember it being discussed. Second, how the hell are the renegades going to have access to "all the speed/armor/shield upgrades"? I mean, come on. The North Tip renegades don't have that technology, unless I missed something about them allying with both the Voinians AND the Azdgari. How else would one get Bronev or the shield generator? I suppose the 3 day research time is acceptable...considering how long I take to develop mine, but with this talk of all the upgrades, I think something fishy is on the table.

Whoever is moderating this, I believe this post needs to be addressed.
