The most powerful ship is a Voinian Heavy fighter. It has tons of space and once you put both shield regen upgrades, 4 shield enhancers and dospect armor your are pretty much invincible. The only ship it does not match up well against is the disco bison. Otherwise there is not another ship in the game you can not attack, then sit in front of, leave the computer for 10 minutes, and then decide it is now time to desroy that ship you attacked in the first place. Working for the Igadzra and the Azdgari to get their upgrades you end up with 3 neutron cannons and the plasma siphon. Once I attacked 2 Igazra and let them shoot me at the same time. They were quite easily dispatched. Overall this is the most boring ship though. You just can't die. (Unless shot by the disco bison, the only challenge left in the game with this ship)

The Crescent Warship, no doubt about it. It kicked more butt than any other ship AND looked cooler than any of the others in the bargain. How could anything compete?

True, the crescent Warship is sleek and powerful, but why settle for the original? I upgrade to the Azdgari Warship. Same design, but cool colors and comes complete with its own fleet of Azdaras. No Strand can compete.

**Okay, true enough. However, that would require me to shoot up an Azdgari, or else be extraordinarily fortunate enough to capture one that someone ELSE shot up. This I never did because the Azdgari didn't ever bother me.
Speaking of capturing ships, is there an equivalent to the Marine Platoon in EVO -- i.e., a way of increasing the chance of capturing a given vessel? If there is I've probably just missed it...

Well, the way I've been able to get an Azdgari Warship is by joining either the Igadzra or the Zidagar in the Strand War, and blasting away ship after ship with either the Plasma Siphon or a Phased Beamer. It takes a while, but all the free azdaras flying around make a nice escort fleet.
About the marine platoon, i believe not, but taking lots of ferry passengers missions may increase your crew count. That's just a thought.

Adzgari 'cos with dospect in the crescent, your invincible (almost). Upgraded with 4 swivel phase cannons or 5 normal phase cannons, you can stand head to head with any other (non Vonian) ship in the game and come out OK.

I still kick myself over this one: I was in a Freight-Courier and I actually captured an Azdgari Warship (a 1 in 100 chance, more or less). Not realizing the power of the ship at the time, I stole the 6 Azdaras and then made it my escort! sob sob Needless to say, it's long gone, and I'll never capture another one again. I could have made it the ultimate ship! boo hoo
