      "You know, we really need the Kayan's Enhanced Defence Pod if we're going to continue with the series of munitions planned." Ai'siu said, leaning back in her chair.
      "I know." Kai'asi replied, "But there isn't much we can trade with them for it."
      Ai'siu frowned. "There might be. When the Talon Torpedo is finished, they might be interested in that. Hopefully."
      "Hopefully." Kai'asi echoed. "If we don't get it, then it will slow down the development of the Predator considerably. And when we have Predators under construction "
      " We can finally crush the Akrahd." Ai'siu finished.
      "Yes. Which is possibly the most important issue for every Supreme Arbiter since the contact."

They did not usually get to help in projects from other goverments and, since all the scientists were erratic anyway, they were excitable. They sent messages back to both the Ionar and the Kayans.

      We will be expecting you when you come. After you land, if you like, you may come immediately to building 35 of the Science Department on Athena. If you agree, it will hopefully be one of the buildings for your project. And we have come in contact with the Kayan Science Corps, and they have agreed to send someone to help out too. We await your presence with great expectance.

      "You didn't have to make us sound that eager you know," a tall Miranu said, he being a bit exasperated. His companion shrugged nonchalantly. OOC- I wrote out an important scene, but it got murdered by my computer crashing (three times in a row.) The general jist is that the Council of Four make a public appearance at the Gateway, Lariat is informed from Dacona that Tetra-Alpha is secure, but the assassins had already left, Idune and Lariat talk, Idune reveals that the new commander of ZSN will be expected to marry her to boost the fading morale of the ZSN. If I can, I'll write this up again later, but, you know how things are.

      Thunder- I'm now joint-producing your supercruiser with you, if you don't mind, as you'll see as you read the post. Make sure you count my advancements to it, 'kay? 🙂

      Gateway

      {From: Lariat, Commander of IGNA, Gateway}
      {To: Kayan Union}

      The Strand League shipyards, especially those under the control of the Igadzra Grand Naval Arm, are perfectly suited for the construction of subassemblies for large vessels. I'm sorry if it negatively effects your plans, but we have begun the construction of various subassemblies for the Kayan Supercruiser that you have yet to build. I'll keep contact with your engineering department if you would so allow, and build for you the various necessary parts of the vessel.

      There is no use holding emnity over you for not choosing an Igazrada: after all, I must confess that the Azdgari Supercruiser is superior, if only due to its size.

      {end transmission}

      {From: Idune, Subcommander of ZSN, Gateway}
      {To: Kayan Union}

      Bear in mind that the following is most definately not a request that you develop anything, as you seem to have a habit of doing (flattering, really, but we don't want to waste your time.)

      I'll be frank. IGNA is annoying me with their little (big, even) Igazrada, and even though we outmatch them in all other departments, I still don't think it's enough. ZSN needs a vessel matching the Igazrada, preferably a combat-capable heavy carrier rather than some form of escort battleship, as the size of the vessel would make it a very clumsy melee attacker.

      My basic plans are in the category of ambitious, borderline friggin' impossible. It might be slightly easier if you could send me the schematics of your Hive carriers, so that I may examine how you manage such a high carrying capacity. My aims are to build a vessel that will support ten Zidaras and several score Ziradas.

      I fully recognise that a destroyer-carrier is an almost unheard of idea. Trust me.

      {end transmission}

      Athena
      Ionar rushed out of his starglider when he reached Athena, and made his way directly to the science department, so excited that he didn't even stop to stare at the glories of the Miranu's wondrous capital. He had sent the basic message of thanks to the department, not wasting any time in landing.

      He was shown to building 35 and brought in.

      "Hello," Ionar greeted them, his voice crackling in excitement. "I still can't believe that I'm here...ah, anyway, I've brought a sample of kydronium crystal grown into a sheet. It's a novelty item sold on many Zidagar worlds, but not very strong. I was wondering if you could help me test a tachyonic shield wave through it for resistance. Ah - are the Kayans here?"

    • Right on cue, a single Kayan Firefly, escorted by a half dozen gunships, came out of hyperspace and dissolved into view in the Athena system. Within minutes the firefly had been granted permission to land at the spaceport nearest the Science Department. Three Kayans disembarked from it (normally a Firefly only carried the pilot, but there was room for a passenger or two), a middle-aged woman, a young boy, and a young woman. Together the trio made their way to the reception office, and from there were guided to Building 35.

      "Greetings, friends," said the oldest of the three Kayans. "I'm Dr. Sarah Kalin, and these two youngsters are two of my most promising doctoral students. I hope we haven't kept you waiting."

      ---

      Kyala was a bit surprised by the messages he recieved from the IGNA and ZSN, but it was a pleasent surprise for the most part. After taking the time to consult the best experts at his disposal, he fashioned a carefully thought out reply to Lariat's message, while leaving Commander Lasin, who was more versed in military matters, to reply to Idune's communique.

      Message to Lariat of the IGNA
      Point of Origin: Quarters of Prime Minister Kyala, New Kayia, Galactica

      I thank you for the assistance you are giving us in building our supercruiser. My engineers assure me that you have considerably sped the project, and for that you have not only my thanks, but the thanks of the entire Military and Engineering Corps. We will have our engineers keep in close contact with yours so that we can work together in the most effecient manner possible.

      Also, I feel it appopriate to tell you that there are many people in the Military Corps who still think the Igazrada would have made a better choice for our supercruiser project. Using the Azdgari designs, there is little doubt that the Kayan Supercruiser will be a one of a kind design, and probably the only ever built. A battlecruiser class vessel designed with the Igazrada as the basis would no doubt be a powerful force as well, and unlike the Azdgari supercruiser design, would be small enough to build multiple copies of. With this in mind, our offer to help you re-design the Igazrada still stands - all you need to do is ask our help and we'll be ready to do all we can to assist you.

      The idea of a vessel that could carry a fleet of ten Zidaras is indeed an impressive idea, despite the fact that it will be quite difficult to impliment. If there's anyone who can do it though, it would be the Strand League. I don't mean to flatter you, but the Strand League have a reputation in Kayan space as being some of the best military engineers around. I have included the schematics for the Hive Carrier in this message, as well as a pair of reports by some of our leading engineers as to how the hangar bays were integrated and designed, as well as how they were designed to be as compact as possible. Hopefully you will find these schematics and reports of use in your project. If you need our assistance or advice in any way, don't hesitate to ask.

    • Athena
      Ionar bowed deeply to the Doctor Sarah Kalin, after having recovered from his surprise at actually being in so prestigious a place. He tried very hard to keep his attraction to the younger woman to himself, although was very careful not to look her fully in the eye from the moment she came through the door.

      "I am honoured to meet you, doctor," Ionar pronounced politely to the leader of the small entourage. "Permit me to skip to the details, would you? I've been working on this for a while, but I still need to make an actual test before I can take my hypotheses any further."

      At that moment, an Igadzran and a Zidagar appeared at the door. "Excuse me, Professor Ionar? The sheets are ready," the Igadzran, who like the Zidagar had accompanied Ionar on his ship, reported.

      Ionar nodded eagerly. "Bring them in. We might as well get down to business. If this fails, I suppose I'm back to the drawing board."

      The sheets of kydronium crystal, about a metre across, were brought into the building rather easily. The two people carrying them did not seem even phased by the weight.

      A screen was quickly found that supported one of the sheets upright quite firmly. A tachyonic shield wave generator was placed facing the screen.

      Ionar smiled. "Wish us all luck," he said to everyone present, and flicked the switch.

      The wavelengths at the other side of the screen were measured, to see how much kydronium affected it.

      Ionar walked over and read the readings, and then turned, very slowly, with a smile on his face. "You know, you'll never believe this...but it actually magnified it. Go make a composite, it should even out in the end," he grinned.

      We would appreciate it if you would attack now. The Teh'Rak can likely get as many as 120,000 vessels in this system very quickly, and it may be touch and go if that happens. Don't get us wrong: we don't want you to do all the fighting for us, but we could use some confusion around when they send reinforcements, if it's not too much trouble.

      Regardless, we'll have Korellian 4 by the end of the day. Good luck, friends.

      3. There are not only thirty thousand ships in Korellian IV nor in Cheble, more likely to be around sixty. Add the two Death Ray, which I have no idea of the power (anti-matter beams), Carno told me that they were powerfull, two Space-Docks, more battleships than usual, add more than sixty thousand fighters to the total.

      4. the anti-matter weaponry destroys anything it meats, even the hardest disc.

      5. S-D have about 55 anti-matter batteries, 55 heavy turreted plasma rail guns, Hail, Hurricane and Storm launchers, the shields and armour: I don't remember from my early post.

      6. Go on Red!

      7. I am very disappointed by the way things happened, more explicitely the secret about the Akrahd and SL's weapons & ships & characteristics and the ships numbers of all which made me question the ability the directors to orchestrate a proper environment to create violence.

      I am not leaving, I hope to come next saterday, my only day of break until then, if you are gentil enough to keep me alive!

      Whatever suits you, but I hope you're keeping your totals in mind. I'm not particularly worried by that, anyway, Ne Demord Jamais. You seem to greatly underestimate my technological advantage over you. My primary weaponry is 3-4 times more powerful, as well as the fact it's a beam giving it an on-the-field x1.5 advantage due to accuracy. Death Rays are nothing - they would have been obliterated within ten seconds by my railguns, before they came in range. As well as that, your beams aren't dangerous enough that two ships pose any threat to my armadas...any threat at all. From your stats on the site, I could wipe out both Death Rays within a second, using 1/100th of my railgun power only.

      Two Space-Docks are nothing, as stationery defences are just chew toys to me (my railguns outrange everything they have), more battleships for usual doesn't really say too much, and your fighters would be devoured by my ships.

      Quit your belief that we're about equal in ship strength, NDJ. It's nowhere near true, and your false SL ship figures are hilarious.

      /OOC:

      Watch the stars. They are tiny, glittering points of light, their close-packed multitudes forming a band of blue-white light across the night sky of NSI-833 IV. One such star is moving; it rushes closer, transforming from a star to the friction-heated form of the Lavrii Union Space Yacht Sprite. Here on uninhabited NSI-833 IV, any ships are a rare sight, and one so important almost unheard of.
      "You said there was a distress call?" Kai'asi asked the pilot, looking out at the gently rolling moors.
      "Yes, sir. The message was first recieved shortly after the Sprite entered this system, and I tracked it to within five kilometers of here. Now we're in the atmostphere, we should be able to find out what sent it. The message doesn't match anything I've seen before."
      "So, what can you tell me about it?"
      "It's in the language of a race we haven't met, but we know of them through our allies the Kayans and Miranu, sir. They're called "Humans"."
      "What an odd sounding name. Still, I suppose we have a duty to rescue these Humans, whatever they are."
      "Yes, sir. I'm sending out the recon drones now."
      Panels in the skin of the Sprite slid aside, and little round drones popped out, humming off into the night.
      "They should come back soon." the pilot said nervously into the sudden silence. "They'll look for any points with a high albedo indicating metal. These "Humans" don't use organic starships, as some of our fiction writers have hypothesised."
      Sure enough, a drone soon came drifting back, and docked in the little socket on the hull. Data transferred from the drone to the Sprite , building up a map of the area. A small red dot shone brightly on the map.
      "It's there?" Ai'siu asked, pointing at the dot.
      "Yes, sir. If you don't object, we'll take the onboard skimmer."
      "Of course not." Kai'asi answered. "We wouldn't want to walk after all! Not when there's a perfectly usable skimmer on board."
      "Yes, sir." the pilot answered, and left to offload the skimmer.
      A minute later, the trio - Kai'asi, Ai'siu and the pilot - were roaring off towards the Human ship. The Lavrii Skimmer was a compact little ground craft, with three large rotating blades underneath to provide lift and thrust. In another two minutes the craft had arrived at the downed vessel, and they stepped out of the skimmer, the tough grass crunching under their boots.
      The Human vessel was a saucer-shaped craft, a dim purple under the powerful floodlights of the skimmer.
      "Don't the Miranu use ships like this?" Ai'siu asked.
      "I think so. The Humans must have brought this one off them."
      The pilot went first, panning his flashlight across the interior of the wreck.
      "I think you should see this, sir." he said, voice echoing. "Two Humans, both very dead."
      Kai'asi stepped gingerly into the wreckage, half expecting something to fall on him. There were indeed two skeletons, fallen in tangled heaps of bones in their flight seats. "They must have been here a few years, then." Ai'siu said, looking at the bodies. "I wonder who they were."
      "I wonder." Kai'asi echoed. The pilot had already ventured further into the wreck.
      "I think I've found some cryogenic pods, sir!" he called.
      The two Arbiters followed his voice into a smaller aft chamber, where four glass cylinders stood against the bulkhead.
      Two were occupied; the first had cracked, blue stains leading from the cracks down to the floor. The occupant looked as if he'd starved to death in the pod. Kai'asi shivered.
      The second seemed alive; faint lights still flickered over the control panels.
      "They look more like the Azdgari or Kayans than the Lavrii." Ai'siu said. "We should get this one out."
      "Yes, sir." the pilot said, examining the controls. He tenatively pressed a few buttons, and the pod split open.
      Ai'siu moved to support the unconcious woman. "One of you carry the Human's feet, okay? I'll take the arms. Let's get her back to the Sprite."
      Kai'asi took the human woman's feet, and together they carried the woman back to the skimmer, the pilot leading the way.
      Ten minutes later the human woman had been transferred to a Lavrii stasis pod, which was substantially shorter than the human version, and the Sprite was heading back to Lavrii Prime.

      The Black Night jumped into Sheagi and launched as many missiles as he could at the Azdgari fleet. It then kicked the afterburner. As fighters came after the ship, it spun around and fired the all it's turrets. Fighters started blowing up when they came too close, and missiles were flying. Unfortunatly for the fighters that didn't explode, they couldn't shoot without hitting their own shields because of the Polaron Heavy Laser. They also couldn't hear a thing over their comm systems. The helpless ships were sitting ducks for the Turbophase turrets, and many got blown away before their comm system came back online. Sadly, it was only a few more seconds before the Heavy Laser fired again and systems fell offline...

      Siranu

      The Valanor armada leapt into the Siranu system, catching the Arkanok defenders that they outnumbered fifteen to one offguard. The Arkanok took a heavy barrage of enemy missiles, their ranks quickly being decimated by the more experienced and much more numerous Valanor vessels. The Arkanok officers wasted little time - rather than fighting a losing battle, the remnants of their battered fleet escaped to S-5277, where they would be met by another 20,000 ships sent from Ridani. In S-5277, they would make a stand and hopefully ambush their opponents, as the system had very dangerous levels of interference, which would interfer with getting locks on opponents and targetting.

      Sirani's single enormous plasma railgun was left to deal with the invaders alone, as they made their way into range to eliminate it and do as they would do with the planet.

      Agnor
      In Agnor, work had begun on enhancing basic plasma weaponry by merging the designs with that of their railgun. Instead of using a simple pulse emitter, they were looking into packaged plasma warheads, dealing considerably heavy damage, but without losing too much of a reload, as cooling time would not come into it. The weapon would not have the range of the railgun, but it would fire packaged shells in a similar way, albeit more powerful ones.

      With the news of the attack on Sirani only just having reached Agnor, the scientists had been told to work with all haste, in hope that the new plasma launchers (and simultaneously the turreted version), as they were to be called, would be completed as quickly as possible.

    • 300,000 Valanor guns were trained on the railgun, and all fired in sync, quickly wiping it out with a giant swarm of missiles, but not before dozens of their own ships were destroyed. Then they concentrated on the planet, targeting major population centers and other such things from orbit. Nothing they targeted was spared. Having ravaged the planet, the Valanor then split their forces in half. 150,000 would meet the force at S-5277, and the other would 150,000 would attack the Ridani system. They would meet again at Akranok Beta, then move on to the Akranok homeworld of Akranok. Since the Ridani defenders were hopelessly outnumbered, the Valanor quickly wiped them away as well, then introduced the planet to their scorched earth policy as in Sirani. As the Valanor strike fleet moved into S-5277, the high levels of interferece caused a small amount of confusion in their formations as they began the attack.

      The 30,000 ships waiting in S-5277 made a daring attack on the 150,000 ships, but it was little short of hopeless. They managed to destroy approximately 10,000 of the Valanor's vessels, before once again being absolutely overwhelmed by superior firepower. Only 5,000 ships escaped the carnage. Via Virani, the ships moved to reinforce Arkanok.

      Then, the 20,000 ships from Arkanok Beta hyperspaced into the system, opened fire, and even began to ram their opponents, desperately trying to buy time.

      The standard 20,000 ships in Arkanok were reinforced by 45,000 more (5,000 originally from Sirani, the rest from Celi'Trandon and Celi'Vella. Another 40,000 ships moved into Arkanok Beta from 'Gamma and Celi'Dani.

    • The Valanor in S-5277 were being hammered by the Arkanok defenders that were fighing like madmen. They still, however, had the advantage of numbers and superior firepower, and used it. They still had at least 130,000 ships, and fought back, even though the interfernece played hell with targeting systems. The ships in Ridani rushed to their aid, knowing defences in Akranok Beta could be bolstered very easily and would delay them more.

    • The robot pilot spoke, but it was hard to make out because of all the comm interfernece.

      "Theres... thing wron... y enigines... oing ... crash!" The frieghter began an unstable wobble of a flight to the planet.
