I happened to find myself pootling around the universe last night, in a system where the Azzies and the Iggies had been shooting hell out of each other. Being an opportunits kind of a guy, and seeing a ship that I had never flown before drifting nearby in a disabled state, I grabbed myself an Igadzra Arada.

I didn't think much of the initial configuration, but I was excited by the prospect of an Arada mounting five guns. (It comes with three front-mounted swivel phase cannon, and two rear-mounted swivel phase cannon.) Mount them all up at the sharp end, I reasoned, and you'd have yourself a serious little destroyer. Rather like the powerful fighters that haven't been seen since original EV... or F25, if you like unbalanced plugs.

Quick as my jump drive could carry me, I headed off in search of a decent outfitters where I could dump those rear swivels and then head on up to Paaren to get myself some neutron cannon. But no! Tragedy! The Igadzra Arada is a Suckship! Suckships are those occasionally encountered ships which mount an extra weapon, but which mysteriously don't free up a slot when you remove it. (The Voinian Cruiser in ROTV1 is the same.)

How sad. For this I gave up a UE Cruiser with all the trimmings. For an Arada with a paint job. sigh

Heh. I tried the exact same thing, just with the azdgari arada. Kinda sucks...

The good thins about Azgdari Arada's, is that they perform like they already have all three manoeverability upgrades, but you can buy them again. Coupled with an afterburner and I can outrun Azdara's.

Does that seem like treason? I have many, many pilots. About sixteen, I think. I've played a lot of different combinations and permutations, including flying around the universe in Bolshova's ridiculously large red thing.

Think I might try for a Zachit Arada next, for the sake of completeness.

What about a Zidagar arada? Will you try that also if you become unsatisfied with the Zachit arada?

I think we all had one once what got me is that you are still flying it.

Oh yeah, I remember (how stupid of me), download the latest version of Strand Vessels plug-ins, it has the Zidagar arada, and if you want the other aradas instead of disabling them, you have to get Ships Galore plug-in.

Incidently, there are 3 versions of the regular aradas, the standard, the renegade arada, and the merchant arada (I didn't creat them, they're EVO originals). Remember those 3 have actuall different settings. So try those out first, if you don't want to waste the time to disable the renegade or the merchant aradas, then get the Ships Galore plug-ins and buy just them.

I remember seeing somewhere something that showed how to outfit your ship to match those...I believe they were designed so that you could use outfits to make an Arada identical (i.e. the change in cargo and weapon space matches that of a mass expansion or something).
