    • Please help with FH Frozen Heart!

Hi! I'm new to this board, do please don't rip my head right of if my problem is trivial. I recently installed the Frozen Heart plug and enjoyed playing it very much. I completed a few missions (not sure how they're officially called): got the Tachyon fighter, later added the beam weapon, supervised elections on Faust (ended at earth with my being told that the whole GalakTech affair is over after capturing the faking equipment), caught the fast-flying plague ship, rescued Jasta Hala, brought her to New Istanbul after which I never saw her again, completed the escort missions (culminating in the mission against three falcons). I last conducted three diplomatic trade negotiations that I picked up in mission computers, but now I can't seem to find any more missions. What happened? I have flown around forever and landed everywhere, but I can't find anyone at all in spaceport bars. I have been patient but am starting to become frustrated, all the more since the plug was so much fun before.

I already scoured through this message board archive, but can't find any answers. Please help!

Did you use the search function? (in menu at the top of this page) try a search on
Frozen Heart missions. It's been awhile since I've played it, but as I recall, try bars on New Venus, on Earth, on the Moon, and on the planet with the black pyramid (major mission) in SW galaxy. There are at least 3 more major missions, one involving the pyramid, one involving Katherine and New Venus, another involving a black hole. Anything to do with archaeology or women, you want to jump on. You have to take courses to get your doctorate, and attend graduation exercises somewhere, too. Hope this helps.

Yes, I first manually looked through the board, then started using the search function. I found no hints to my dilemma. I know that there are missions left (the black hole, for one) but I just can't seem to meet anyone in space bars. I got the yggdrassil stones, too (I forgot to mention) and contacted the dissidents on Rigel VI. I did graduate (and make it to the ceremony), but there was no mention of a doctorate, only the standard bachelor, I think. I have jumped on everything that was not a straight cargo/freight/urgent delivery. There is nothing left in the mission computers. I have not (to my knowledge) failed any missions.

What is that black pyramid you mentioned? Was that the old space station where I found the Yggdrassil stones? The Katherine/New Venus mission is the one where I rescued her from the fast plague ship nearby?

    • Patience.

The missions will show up. Something will happen; I believe it starts with something happening to Emile (you have played him in chess already, right?).

    • Thank you all for your responses. I waited even longer, and the missions just came rolling in. Of course, I look bloody stupid now. But my patience was just exhausted. Anyway, Venus is sacked, and I'm on my way to completeing the plug!

Careful with the final mission - the one involving the black hole in Styx. It's quite tricky, and I believe that if you let yourself fail, that's it. The universe collapses. Since you need to use the implosion bomb to destroy the black hole, if you launch it and miss, press "Esc" and reload the pilot file. It's quite tricky to deploy the bomb effectively, but baiting the black hole with IMP rockets seems to work for me.

Don't try conventional weapons, and don't go in close.

Once you're finished with Frozen Heart, try Femme Fatale, the sequel. I can't say I've ever played it, to be honest - Frozen Heart captured me long enough, but the restrictions in playing finally got to me, and I went back to murdering people in regular EV:O. And then there's the fact that it's almost impossible to play in a Falcon, and the game makes it difficult in an Icax (I refuse to pilot a Tachyonic fighter out of pure stubborness). 🙂

Thanks for the advice. I am on the final mission now, and keep failing. I suppose it's mostly because I have no afterburner, the dumb gunner taking up the requisite 5 tons of space. Incidentally, I never did find Emile when he was dying, as I couldn't guess his home world. The plug generously ignored that, however, so I completed all the rest of the missions up to the black hole one. Just out of curiosity: do you know where his home planet is?

Please, tell me what you mean by "baiting the black hole with IMP missiles". I would be thankful for a tip. I suppose I could give up the shield computer (3 tons) for an IMP missile, if that helps me kill the Black Hole.

If you are in the know on regular EV:O, could you tell me how many "main objectives" there are? I did three: bringing about the downfall of the Voinian empire, exploring the Nebulae and destablising the crescent wars (on the side of the adzgari). Is that all there is?

Thanks in advance for your time!

I believe Emile can be found around Earth and the system just south and east of the Sol region - although I forget the name most of the time. The system I am referring to is just left of Styx, so it shouldn't be too hard to find for a person in your predicament.

The black hole will charge directly at you if you hit it with an IMP rocket, giving you an opportunity to turn your back to it, deploy the IMP bomb, and run like hell. It should, hopefully, work. If it doesn't, try a few charging deployments at the lowest speed, curving off to the side after deploying the bomb. Oh, and your Tachyonic fighter should already have enough room for the IMP missiles...unless you took the missiles out when you got it? It might be worth it, they make good bait.

And there are only those three main objectives, although the Zidagar and Igadzra strings also lead to the completion of a similar objective. Playing as the Voinians will not result in the completion of a major EVO objective, as the Voinian string is somewhat incomplete, but it amounts to the same thing.

    • Emile's home planet is New Sahara, I thought, in the Barnard system.

The thing is, it's almost impossible to get there in time, so failure is supposed to be okay for that mission. If you do manage to get there, the same thing happens anyway.

    • Thanks for all the replys! From the storyline I assumed that my character meets with Emile and promises to find his killer. It was physically impossible for me to reach him in New Sahara in time, so I had the "mission failed" dot near the mission till the end of the plot. I actually managed to destroy the black hole after a lot of trying, without any afterburners. It isn't easy though - neds a lot of luck and some good timing. It is truly a great plug-in, totally transforming the EVO game from what it is like in the standard configuration.

Have started on Femme Fatale now and seem to be progressing nicely.
