    • The Crecent Warship, better than the rest?

The CW, although it looks good, is it better than the rest? As it cost 9 million credits its got to be, after all this liz reib or whatever that was won at 'insanelygreat.com' seems to be a very good ship, I have a large esscort and a dangerous combat thing and I can't beat it wothout loosing my UE carrier or turncoat. Which is annoying cos it took me ages to get the UE C. I searched for this topic and it appears that Igzara (is that the speeling?) appear to be good, but the CW is the all round best. But I can't afford it! 9 million... I have 5 and thats after plundering alot of MH Frieghters and doing several well paying missions, which took 3 days... (ages for me) I don't play it round the clock. Anyone got any tips? Missions which pay a large amout, or something. I need a better ship to take on the larger missions I have a rubbish Courier (that blue and white block). It's got ok speed and guns but shield and armour is crap.

    • I would get a Lazira next, they are quite a good buy for the price, and you can Monty Python large ships very easily and beat smaller ships head-on easier as well.

    • Yes, Lazira is a good step up when you've got about 5 mil. An upgraded Lazira has the power of a light warship with she speed of a fighter.

The UE Destroyer is highly under-rated. When you strip it of all it's stock items, you have over 200 tons of space to play with! You can outfit it with turrets, shield and armor upgrades, etc, and still have room for secondary weaps and some other upgrades. Plus, when upgraded, it's as fast as a stock Lazira.

If you really want the CW, start saving. It's a good ship if you like to just dive in and shoot it out.

Another choice is the UE Cruiser or Igazra. These are the biggest, nastiest ships in the game. They have room for all the weaps and upgrades you want. The only downside to them is that they're a bit slow.

Wow, I'm surprised no one's attacked you yet. Do the Anna Balashova missions, that start on New Taranto, and at the end of the string you get the great (url="http://"http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/user/dsghosh/evosite/shipyard1.html#uecruiser")UE Cruiser(/url). Hardest-to-destroy ship in the game, if you play it right. 😄

Hardest to destroy, my @$$! An Azdara w/ Dospect and the Exp. Generator is 100% indestructible. That reminds me, I need to see if I can take Council Station with it.

    • I've gunned down Crescent Warships one-on-one with my heavily modified UE Fighter. Having no secondary weps can give you the supreme clarity of being a gunfighter, and I can dip into the CW's gun range, deal out a burst, then sweep past to recover shields. And if the shields do happen to go, the Dospect absorbs the punishment. The only real threat from the CW's are the SADs, but those can be danced around until ol' Big Blue runs out of those precious lil' pods.

Of course, a pair of CW's get dicey. Crossfire from two or three CWs will carve up my bird, but then again, the smart boy tries to weed the weak from the herd and kill it solo.

Ironically, I've found the UE vessels are my most acute threat, at least in the initial engagement. Homing missiles are a nasty party-pooper for a small ship like mine, especially when launched in rapid-fire style. I end up running from the little yellow torps until they self-destruct, then wait until my pursuer runs out. Then comes the gunfight again...

    • If you think the CW is too expensive, the Igdzra is 15 Million. But it's worth it (and so is the CW). Which ship you get depends on what kind of player you are. Here's my breakdown of the ships:

UE Cruiser-Overall, the hardest ship to get killed in, except maybe Voinian ships(I haven't played in any of them without cheating). Most people say that it has the most room for expansion, but stripped of all it's stock items, it only has about 20 tons more than a stripped Igdzra. However, this ship lacks a lot of speed and manuverability. Finally, it has a huge crew, making it easy to quickly accumulate a full fleet of large Crecent/UE Warships. You can get a fleet of Voinian Warships too - it just takes awhile.
10 Million, after Anna Balashova missions

CW-While no the best, still an awesome ship. Can take quite a beating, and has enough room for expansion. Proably the fastest and most manuverable heavy warship in the game.
      9 Million, always avaliable

Igdzra-Excellent heavy warship. Has almost as much room for expansion when stripped of stock items as a UE Cruiser, but a lot faster and almost twice as manuverable. It has more shields than the UE Cruiser, but a lot less armor. Finally, it has a much smaller crew. Personally my faviorate ship in the game.
15 Million, after first Igdzari string

Arada-I ushally only use this ship with the Adzari. Equip it with Sw. Phase Cannons, Dipsy rockets, all the standard junk, and the Experimental Shield Generator as well as the normal Adzari Shield Generators, and it can hold it's own with any of the ships above.
1 Million(about 13 Million after all the upgrades listed above), always avaliable.

Any of these four ships can be modified to, in the hands of a good pilot, take out any ship in the game.

    • How could you possibly fit Dospect Armor (60 tons) onto an Azdara?

      giants, and you'll be

    • No no Cazic... Bronev is the armor that weighs sixty tons... Dospect only takes up 20. Even so, it's a bit of a squeeze to fit it on an Azdara.

Okay, I like the CW for these reasons:

      A. It looks cool.

      B. It is fairly fast and manueverable.

      C. It has plenty of room once you ditch the Fighter Bay.

      D. It has tough shields.

Overall, the CW is a good mid-game choice. If well-upgraded, it is great for the entire game.

    • I've been screwing around with that cheat plug Lone Voinian mentioned. And with all the Voinian and Azdgari uprades (no I'm not cheating on this, i did the missions for both) I've conquered half the map already. Quite fun, but that Azdgari Arada is pretty nice to. The CW is definatly not the best ship in the game, but its a good intermediate ship.

    • Run Voinian missions-the Voinian cruiser kick some major ass in the crescent. Get Dospect and Bronev Plating for it, and 6 neutron turrets, and you don't need much else. Only problem is it is S-L-O-W. Very.

    • hmm, I got a UE Cruieser... I did some rescue scoutship bloke from f-wassname planet, and I was able to buy one. Pretty slow though.

Methinks I iz gettinga bit bored with evo. I can't wait for evn, must be alot better.

    • Bored with EVO? Impossible. If so though, get a TC, like FH/FF. My opinion on ships:

Arada! I bet you'd never have guessed. Good performance, high power. The Adzgari model is the best all-around, but some like the Zachit (Great against fighters) or Igadzra (Great against warships).
Of course, you can upgrade your Arada to whatever you like.

But, even they are no match for an Arada, the capital ships are still pretty cool. The best:
Azdgari Warship. Reasonable performance (Great for a warship), and 6 Azdaras.
Igazra. Kill kill kill most anything.
Voinian Cruiser. Kill anything in crescent without getting scratched.
UE Cruiser. An average heavy warship, pretty good in all aspects, no real specials.
Crescent Warship. Just an un-upgraded Azdgari Warship. A nice ship, but not wonderful.

      Other good ships:
Azdara. With shield regeneration upgrades it's invincible.
Lazira. Good light warship for newbies or experienced players (We need a name for EVO players...Any ideas?)

Of course, you must choose a ship you like. I think UE Carriers are terrible and Turncoats are even worse, but I'm not you.

BTW, Council station has almost 3000 Crescent warships. Anyone who captures it must either be cheating or flying an Arada.

Is the answer to this question 'no'?

    • I has given up. I got bored to the point where I just didn't want to play anymore. Some games are ok but then they get worse, some are brillient, and then they get terrible, and some are just sheer works of art, and they get just boring. Escape Velocity, and Override are both basicly the same, which is why I don't play EV at all anymore. I would rate them around the middle of brillient to terrible and ok to worse. They start off boring, get better, then they get even more boring than they ever were. Hmm, thats a whole new catagory!

How would you u lot rate them?

      -O.K. > Worse
      -Brillient > Terrible
      -Excellent > Bad
-Work Of Art > Just Plain Boring

      Or a different catagory altogether?
This should be intersting to see if anyone thinks the same as me...

    • I disagree. It never gets boring (unless you cheat). And if you find that you've completed all the missions and done everything you can do, get (or make) a plug. I develop plugs, and am in the process of a huge TC. If you want, go to the dev board for help. It's fun and rewarding.

      ------------------
Is the answer to this question 'no'?

    • yea i suppose.

I am starting soon to read up on 'how to make plug-ins' but i won't get anywhere with it, I am only just starting the programming milarkee anywayz.

    • You need:
      EVO Bible PDF
      EVO Bible Annoted edition
      Shipwrite/The Docks
      Mission Control
      EVO Developer's map
      Resedit
      Templates
      Plug Checker
      Bitmap
      EVO Formula Calc

Well, you could just use resedit, but that would be messy and hard.
      Good luck
