This topic is about asking what your favorite escorts are. Sure, fighters are dandy, and the disco bison is cool if it keeps it's weapons, but Im asking the question,
What are the best pack animals out of EVO?

In my oppinion, the UE destroyers are the best, becasue they have good long range capability in the form of hunter missiles, and when five UE destroyers are taking on any one ship, the nature of the blaze turrets make it so that one, it can't get a target lock, and two, it's maneuverability is sh*t, and the rockets do good damage as well.
The small ship crew and easy capturability are an added bonus.

Igadzras are OK for long range, and Laziras work decently, but UE destroyers are the only ships I've found to work together exceptionally well against any ship, be it Voinian cruisers, Igadzras, or even Azdgari warships. Yes, I've seen UE destroyers take out all of the azdaras.

They aren't much in groups, but like the intro to EVO subconsciously says, wolf-packs of destroyers are quite good.

I like renegade aradas. They´re damn fast, and their dispearsel rockets are not bad either. And they´re sooo easy to get

If I have less than five escorts, I'll board just about ANYTHING except the ship of an allied government. I like to keep one escort slot empty, in case something juicy turns up disabled after a firefight.

I seldom hire escorts, unless I am in a cargo-hauling mood. And by the time you can afford to maintain a large fleet of escorts, you probably don't need to make money from cargo hauling. One observation though... hiring six UE freighters is a great way to increase the effectiveness of your armour. Simply have them fly in formation with you, and they stop a lot of missiles.

I have always found that bounty hunter crescent warships make a good source of escorts, which is steadily replenished, wherever you may wander. Voinian cruisers are my personal favourite, because they have such good surviveability, but they're damn hard to capture. CWs are a more realistic proposition.

I get ships that have their own fighters. After you do the Zidagar mission string the Zidara rocks as an escort :D. All those phased beams really do some damage. Azdaras are my second favorite expecially for big slow ships. They can swarm on you like hornets. Thirdly I like to have a single really big ship like a Crecent Warship or the Igazra. While being slow they really make a dent in those little itty bitty fighters that are deployed from cruisers.

My best fleet I've had is 1 Crecent Warship, 2 Zidaras, and 3 Azdaras. Took a big bite out of my credit account though thats fore sure ;).

My favourite escort are the captured one: six Igazras or six AWs or six Zidaras. The unfortunate part of with 6 Azdgari warship is that they tend to recall their Azdaras when their Azdara fire at the ennemy ship an is no longer a threat to your ship. Otherwise I would always have used them.

I also like the Kraits. I like them for their color, not their habilities!

Personally, I enjoy Aradas as escort. They're pretty powerful, and also veyr fast, making them ideal for domination of planets, as they can zap from defender to defender, ripping them apart like nobody's business. I try to keep a good balance of all the types: renegade, Igazdra, Adzgari, and Zachit. The merchant ones are pretty useless, to me.

And to the unregistered user who keeps bugging this board: maybe if you didn't type stupid, inane messages, people would actually be nice to you. I think this calls for an IP ban, this is not the first episode with him, and he has obviously missed the point.

Does anyone have an Adzgardi Crescent ships as escorts? I was doing the Zidagar missions and I managed to capture 2 of them. But Im finding that the Zidagar attack their escorts and sometimes them. But I'm on friendly terms with the Zidigar, so perhaps they're attacking my escorts because of what kind of ship they are. I dunno, maybe I imagined it, but does this happen with anyone else, Hmm?

You're a Zidara pilot, on duty in a core world, when a fleet jumps in with azdgari warships as escort. What would you do?

I certainly have no intention of paying for warships to escort me... they're just not effective enough. I pay for freighters to accompany me in the early stages of the game, because captured ships don't allow you to carry extra cargo.

Paying out millions in wages for combat vessels to accompany you on a dangerous flight just signifies bad planning. Rather than immediately accepting and executing a dangerous raid or rescue mission, skulk around and capture six ships. Land (even on an uninhabited world) to get their shields repaired, and then do your mission.

I just love Igazras as captured escorts... good surviveability, none of the over-complex chain of command you get with captured escorts can their carried fighters... and their puny crew makes them easy to get hold of.

I think I know why they attack your Azdara. In the game for some reason your escorts' escorts are not considered your escorts so they are considered normal ships. If you understand that. Kinda weird, hope they fix that in EV Nova.
