    • EVO probs

      Hello,

This is my first post so go easy on me, I am a monkey afterall.

      First of all I have a few problems with EVO. I am running it on a Mac Emulator (Basilisk 2) and all is fine apart from the following;

1)The homing weapons (especially the Crescent weapons) have a tendency to fly in circles. Even the enemy weapons fly in circles. Is there a fix for this?

2)When the large ships (UE Cruiser, Voinion Carrier) point towards the light-source, they have a funny "hatched" pattern across them.

3)EVO seems to think I have had it for 259 days when I have actually had it for about 5. Because of this, Hector keeps stealing my money! He took a million last time! I have tried re-setting the dates in both Windows XP and Basilisk 2 but it only brings it down to 90 days, no further.

Anyway, I was wondering if the above where common to EVO/emulated EVO and if there is a fix/plug-in for them.

Also, how do I do the Zigarar (is that how you spell it?) missions? I adore their funky little purple ships and I was wondering how to unlock them. I am not really interested in a plug-in, I want to earn them myself...

      Cheers,

    • As for the weapons that circles, it's normal they are called SAD and SAE by the Igadzra (those who have the big yellow ship).
As for the emulation part, I am truly not an expert, I leave it to someone else.
The Zidagar string starts after the diplomatic mission from the Miranu to the UE, near Pozdag.

      Enjoy,

      I.

    • The thing is even the bloody Pursuit Missiles do it!!! I fired 20 at a Crescent Warship and only 2 hit their target!

    • Yeah there is a plugin somewhere in those pages upon pages of them that attempts to fix the homing weapons' guidance - it's to do with the 'flags' in the resources.. in version 1.0.2 it seems they introduced a lot better missile jamming on most ships - it isn't the emulator.. that rocks :)!

The "hatched" pattern on the larger ships facing 270-360 degrees around about, has been present on every computer I've played the game on - and only on EVO.. using MAGMA for EV which makes some of those ships even bigger, there is no problem. I don't know why but thought it was something to do with RAM (first played on LCIII with 8mb :)) but it's running on heaps under emulation - beats me :frown:!

Don't know why you're getting the date thing weirdly.. but I have seen it happen on another comp that I set up Basilisk II on.. so it's not just yours.. if that's any consolation :).

About the Zidagar missions, well you've already got directions to them.. but without plugins you might be a bit disappointed with the ship - you only get to buy the Zidara, which comes with 2 Phase Turrets and 2 Phased Beams - the latter two cannot be removed, and if you sell the turrets, you can only buy back one as the ship has a limit of 3 turrets :frown:. There are a few plugins about that might help with that, but if you download Resedit and put it into the emulator in the same manner, it's not too hard to work out how to change things like that :).

      Good luck...

    • Thanks,

I downloaded the plug-in for the weapons, now the SADs (especially the SAEs) are almost TOO good! My friend is running EVO on an Basilisk 2 aswell and he has the same "hatched" problem aswell as the funny date. Hmmmm, I'm sure I can fix it somehow...

I did the Zidagar string, I quite like the ship. It seems to have blindspots at 12 and 6 'o' clock for the turrets. The beam kicks ass but eats fuel WAY too fast. I lost a full yank (6 jumps) in about 1-2 seconds of fire!

      Anyway, thanks for the help...

    • Yeah, that's the problem - if the weapons aren't too bad they're too good :). And yes, the Zidara does have a turret blindspot - only to the rear I think though.. good luck fixing the "hatch", and keep us posted :).
