    • A.S.S. Lazer Punk, I HATE you!

How critical is it to wipe out the A.S.S. Lazer Punk? How much of the game will I miss if I don't have the "twitch monkey" skills necessary to wipe out those fighters? Folks, I'm totally frustrated! By my count, I've had my clock cleaned 82 times and I can't snuff those 6 fighters. I've got a pretty good ship so it is my arcade skills that suck. I have the sick feeling that this mission is blocking me out of all the remaining missions in the game. I've completed the Nebula Exploration mission and the Henware (sp?) Rebellion but this has me stumped.

      Any tips, suggestions, condolences? :frown:

    • I'm not sure I ever did finish the Igadzra string, but in general having hired escorts is a help. Make some dough and hire out a few CW's maybe. Maybe buy some fighters. You can't monty python here, right? Fighters must be too fast. What type of fighters are we dealing with? Some crazy azdara or something? I guess, in the end, you could just cheat. You are musch more determined than I - I would have resorted to cheating at about 30 (probably less =D). It is fun to beat it legit though.

Ya know, if you have the Vonians on your side, you could try hiring out some Cruisers - their armor would last quite a while against crescent weapons.

    • I believe, if I'm correct, that it is a part of the mission string for the Igadzra. Also, I think this mission is meant to test the plasma siphon, a useful wepaon against Azdaras (the Lazer Punk is an Adzgari Warship, I think). So, if I'm correct, here's the deal, Phog: use the siphon to its fullest extent, basically, to keep the azdaras at bay. Also, it helps if you have a faster ship. Jump in and immediately turn around to head out. If/when it attacks, this tactic can string out the marauding fighters much better than running straight into them. After that, the warship itself shouldn't be too much trouble. If you want more help, tell us what ship you're using, what string you're doing currently, outfits, and such.

    • My tactics for destroying Azdaras:

I get an afterburner and a couple shield enhancers (you'll need them :)). Then I buy pursuit missiles, dispersal rockets or just plain old rockets (vonian style). I target 1 Azdara and wait for it to pass me going the opposite direction. I watch it on the radar until it has reached the full length of its run. It then turns to make a second pass. The moment I see it accerating towards me, I kick in my afterburners and ready my secondary. You need to have it right behind you, or it may not work. Once it comes into view (behind me) I fire at it - so you'll need turrets or rear firing phase cannons. I continue forward, firing and wait for it to catch up and pass beneath me. The instant that it passes my nose (or right while its beneath it) I let loose my secondary. If it hits just right it should slow the Azdara, taking its shields down and allowing you to finish it off. If it just hits it and doesn't slow it there is still a good chance that you can destroy it before it gets out of range of your turrets. Sometimes a second volley from your secondary can help wipe it out too. Anyway, hope that helps!

    • For one, I believe it's Lazer Funk :).
For a second: if the mission is given to you by the Igadzra just after you have received the Plasma Siphon - check your secondaries if you're not sure - then it is necessary to do the mission to continue the Igadzra string. If, however, it is given to you on a recurring basis - with different ship names as well.. then it is mere bounty hunting for the Igadzra, and is not essential - not to mention rather hard to find :).

Do Americans (and New Zealanders?) really spell 'laser' with a 'z' in it? How bizarre.

Ack, no...laser it is (for the word). No idea how the ship's name is spelled, though.

If you don't mind doing it the lame way, a psuedo monty python vs those nasty ships can work. Capture an Az Arada and put a speed upgrade, afterburners, and two phase turrets on it. You should be able to move fast enough to destroy each fighter as they come within range of you.

    • In the latest version of EVO, Azdaras are a pain...a very big pain, especially packs of six. If it's really difficult, you might want to consider using a space bomb (can be purchased at Human Renegade systems). That should clear them out quite quickly. Note, however, that ships such as the UE Fighter, UE Destroyer, Arada, Crescent Fighter and Lazira can't be expected to take out the Azdgari Warship head on, even once it's fighters are out (unless it is very well upgraded / tactics employed).

      Word.

    • Target one fighter, and continue blazing with turrents until it is destroyed or otherwise. DO NO RETARGET. Concentrate on one at a time. You will take damage, but they will begin to fail and explode in the end, espically if you're in the big yellow di- EH HEM.. Anywho, just kill one at a time, hopefully others will be caught in your fury, and you should be allright..

      Oh... and..

      HOW DARE YOU MISSPELL HINWAR!!!

    • As far as I can tell this is part of the Igadzra mission string which I am stuck in the middle of at the mo'. The names of the ship you have to destroy to test the plasma siphon do cycle (e.g. if you abort, OK, I'm a chicken!), and given the way this guy has phrased the question I don't think he's done the testing the plasma siphon yet.

He's the kick in the Igazra, though, once you've done this, you have to go to a station which gets attacked by 4 Adzgari warships which you have to defend single-handedly. now fending off 6 azdaras is tough and took me umpeen tries, but TWENTY-FOUR! It's just silly. I think I'll try and get out of the crescent for the time being.

    • I was in an Azgadari Arada when I completed this mission (stolen, of course :D). If you buy an engine upgrade and an afterburner, you can outrun Azdaras. What you do is run away from the approaching Azdaras (without the afterburner on). When one gets into turret range, fire at it until it dies (don't use the plasma siphon, it knocks the ship back and it then recharges its sheilds). Then hit the afterburners and gain some distance, then start attacking the second. Repeat.
Some people may think that this is Monty Pythoning and therefore is cheating. I agree, but then again, I don't care :D.

    • Well, first, I'd advise to try and meet the Lazer Punk in the system when there is another Igadzra Igazra or Zidagar Zidara in the area. I used that to destroy an AW in a fairly non-upgraded Arada quite easily. It's kinda hard to do; sometimes you'll have to enter the system multiple times before you get lucky, but it pays off in the end. Just let the Igadzra or Zidagar do the major work for you, then just move on in for the kill.

However, if you can do that, then I would suggest that (if possible) you try and buy a space bomb. Just one will take care of most of those pesky fighters, but be sure to be far away from the explosive, which will positively total your ship easily.

Another note would be to first worry about taking out the fighters; ignore the warship, just nock out the Azdaras with lots of highly-consontrated phase fire or some dispersal rockets, then go for the Lazer Punk. If it has long-range ammo (like pursuit missiles or SADs) your best bet is to stay away from it as long as possible until it runs out. Then move in with your own long-range weapons, and once it's softened up enough, kill it.

Hope that helps. Good luck on killing the ship.

      -Captain Carnotaur

P.S. Another note; get as many speed, acceleration, and maneuvering upgrades as you can before you try this mission. Helps a lot.
