I see that some ships can have 4 guns and 2 turrets, but when i buy 4 guns, it says "can't have any of this item" when i try to buy the turrets!!! what the heck? Then i try to attack other ships, and they have lots of guns and turrets!!! what is wrong with me? argh!!!

In EVO, any Guns you buy take up Turret slots, and vice-versa. In the ship info it tells you the number of gun and turret slots on the ship. Also, if you're fighting AI ships, a general rule is that anything from a Destroyer up in size has turrets instead of guns, and anything smaller than a Destroyer (except Lazira) has cannons instead of turrets. And FYI, projectile launchers don't take up turret or gun space. Happy huntings.

and just to mess with your brain, the plasma siphon does not take up any slot, but the phased beamer takes a turret and gun slot.

Okay gunhead, as the others were saying, guns do take up turret space and vice-versa... but, don't panic. If you're really desperate for some more firepower and is willing to give up some cargo space, then purchase a Mass Expansion for 50,000 credits... it will take out 15 spaces from your cargo, but give you 10 spaces for ammunition and/or guns! It's up to you, so you make the choices...

The reason they have a limit on guns is so psychos like you can't go around blasting everything in sight. 
It also makes the game more enjoyable for the player. It gives you a challenge.

Hi guys. I'm with Gunhead. I've been playing EVO for some time trying not to use hints, but it is frustrating - to have finally got a destroyer with armour and something to shoot with and survive for more than twenty seconds in the southern renegade systems is keeping me in the game. I've tried different ships up to Lazira level and have got blown to bits over and over. Keep up the good work.

If you need some help or some advice, I'm more then willing to lend you a hand. Can't help you on everything, but I'll do my best. Anyway I'll give you two some survival tips for the boards. Don't spam - just don't do it, no one likes that. Don't - and this one is a must - capitalize forge's name, and it's a good idea to look at how other users have their names so that they don't get upset if you type it wrong - it's a little respect that takes an extr five seconds. Don't ask about Karma points - READ THE GUIDELINES! I didn't and you can find my lovely little blemish about thirty days back. Otherwise you should get along fine. Nice to have some new people here on the boards!

Thanks for that. It wasn't about guns. It was about turning up the heat on those little bastards that keep blowing me to bits. I like the simplicity of primary weapons - missiles etc are great when you have time - I just don't seem to have it. The hints that I have picked up from the board are great
